The DJI RS 3 Combo is a great gimbal stabilizer for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. It has a payload of 3 kg (6.6 lbs), automated axis locks, 1.8" OLED touchscreen, and 3rd-gen RS stabilization algorithm. The gimbal is very easy to use and setup. It works great with my DSLR and mirrorless cameras. The gimbal is also very lightweight and easy to carry around.

I had the sc2 and it’s much smoother, the menu and functionality of the gimbal are great however the gimbal motors started making noises ( like it’s under a heavy load) which it wasn’t, the gimbal was on the table not in use but turned on, and it was balanced correctly.hope I just got a bad copy, im gonna try to buy another one and hope it will work correctly.

Glitchy noisy squeaky
The media could not be loaded.
Made a lot of squeaky noises when the motor would move the locks and screeching when the motor were pressed on.Updated the firmware they the DJI app and it made it into a glitchy not stabilized mess. Started to move on it’s on and messed up a first look I had to do for a wedding.Professional equipment should not fail you for important stuff like this on the job. I sent it back and am looking for a new one.Hopefully my second purchase of this item goes better, but the rsc2 is way more reliable atmUpdate: 2nd purchase was even worse with the same noisy motors3rd purchase. Same problem… I dealt with it for a day but I had a bad problem in church at a wedding. The gimbal must’ve gotten stuck trying to auto unlock and started to screech VERY LOUDLY in the middle of a MASS ceremony. I had to run outside and wait for it to stop crying like a toddler. Professional equipment should not be problematic in these situations and this is the second time it’s failed me. I’m beyond upset with the experience I had with this gimbal.

The gimbal was bent and not matter how hard I tried to balance it, it would not work correctly. The Picture above shows the gimbal locked in all positions which should be straight and level.

Item defective and amazon won’t replace it.
I received this item and did my very first job with it and I realized it was defective. Every time It finds the settings it goes to sleep right after and amazon is refusing to exchange it since it’s outside the return window, so now i’m stuck with a $550 item that’s not working. Ruined My Footage, Almost Ruined Client’s Night
AVOID: I was paid to film an event and without warning, despite being perfectly balanced and checked 3 times, the thing just flimsily waved my $4000 camera around like it did not give a ____. The best it could do was barely hold it sideways before rolling it backwards like it’s back was broken… Thank god I’m good at shooting handheld because this gimbal is worthless garbage and remained in my bag during the entirety of the event. If I couldn’t shoot handheld well the client’s footage would have been completely ruined, not that DJI cares.

Received already faulty. At first I thought it was a problem with the battery, but after the replacement it worked a little, then again the same thing. Then I saw that the pins do not come out of their nest, the spring does not work

AMAZING Gimbal
Firstly, I have to say, “Wow!” This gimbal is seriously impressive. The functionality it offers is absolutely mind-blowing. The features and integrated technology it boasts completely blew me away. It’s so easy to use and balance, making it an absolute must-have for any videographer or creator out there. I was able to effortlessly balance my Sony A7IV with a Sigma 24-70 lens without any issues. The motors handled it like a champ, no matter the angle I shot at.I personally loved the portrait shooting mode and the 360-degree roll features. They added such a cool/unique touch to my footage. And the fact that I could attach the focus/zoom motor to the lens using the gimbal made it super convenient whenever I needed to adjust my focus or zoom. Honestly, I can’t recommend this enough, whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned professional. It offers a ton of functionality and capabilities that will benefit anyone in the world of videography.

Labeled used, but came almost brand new
I’ve been saving up for an rs3 for so long to kick off my videography career doing rollers, ads, and more. Obviously I needed more equipment than just the rs3, but if I bought brand new I wouldn’t be able to afford it. So I bought used and was able to get a monitor to attach, and more. Every part was in the box, and I think only one scratch on the ronin. But everything worked perfectly and as described. I don’t regret spending $450 on this because I know I will be able to make my money back.

Steep learning curve
I used it for brief videos. Very steady. I was unable to mount the Sony 200-600 lens on it even though the lens and camera were within weight limits. Other people have done it successfully with a little DYI adaptation. It may need an adapter. It worked perfectly with the Sony A7 cr camera. No cords needed for Bluetooth connection.

It Shuts Off All the Time and Wont Turn Back On
Im very upset how expensive this was and how little use ive gotten out of it. I calibrated everything according the the company videos and still the camera shuts off mid filming all the time. Sometimes the motor goes crazy and will shut off for days. The battery will be fully charged and very firmly attached and it still does this. I thought i must’ve done something wrong but nobody seems to have this issue so im assuming mine is defective. Going to try and return this. Will probably not use this company again.

Expensive Trash
Was so excited to open my Ronin RS3. I go to mount the battery handle and the lock latch mechanism is completely frozen and will not clamp onto the battery. I spent an hour trying to get it fixed and nothing worked. So mine was toast right out of the box!! Didn’t even get to mount a camera to it or turn it on. Returning it and going with something else since I’m sure the long term reliability is terrible if mine came busted out of the box.

It’s definitely over rated
This gimbal is not as good as people say, at least not for me … it’s very difficult to it’s very difficult to calibrate it… the Bluetooth never worked (at least with my 2 cameras ) the cable works straight to the cameras works sometime and always is a pro le with … I have to calibrate it like 3 times every 5 minutes … it’s a pain… by the way I tried it wirh 3 cameras and doesn’t not work well, my old zihun works 100 times better

A No-Brainer Gimbal Purchase. This is the one.
I got this gimbal after having the Weebill S gimbal for my Canon M50. I got an A7Siii & the Webill S couldn’t handle the camera in portrait mode shooting (for socials). It balances perfectly for my vertically mounted A7Siii.What stands out about this gimbal to me are 3 things:(1) Auto-Axis Lock + Unlock: Speed is critical. I can get the camera on and off this gambal in a snap. Click in -> power on (moves to position) -> go. To get off I just power off, click out, then I’m handheld. So critical for shooting fast action like sports, etc where you don’t control the environment.(2) LCD User Experience: The LCD reports your balance for each axis & balancing is a snap. No guesswork, you numerically can see where you are overworking on any given axis and adjust in seconds.(3) Motor Power: The motors are strong, they work effortlessly to move the camera smoothly. Far better than the Weebill S.Summary: This gamble will elevate your ability to get your camera where it needs to be. If you are in the market for a gimbal upgrading, this one’s great.

So this may be a great gimbal, it SEEMS like it should be,unfortunately the necessity of “activating” it through their horrible, horrible ap will not allow me to find out. I finally managed to activate it after an hour of messing with their ap and trying to decode the poorly printed serial number, still telling me it needs to be activated. I did get an email from them that was all in Chinese, maybe there was something relevant there? I don’t speak Chinese however. Tried their “live” chat help, showed I was first in queue but never got an answer. Just overly frustrating and leaving me with a gimbal I can’t even use.

More than 5 months in and this is my review.
I have been using this DJI RS 3, 3-Axis Gimbal for more than 5 months now and below are my comments:Battery life -is more than adequate for my intended use. I can usually last for 3-4 shoots before I had to top up the batteries.Stabilization -significantly improved compared to my DJI Ronin SC and, the controls are more intuitive with the OLED display as a welcome add!Features -to maximize it, I found out that I had to grab a couple of addons. Please see Pro Tip below. Had I known these, I could’ve save a lot of headache, so here you go!Auto Lock/Fold feature -is heaven sent! This is by far the best feature I really like. I can shoot, pack, reposition to get another perspective, unpack then shoot again without removing the main cam!Finish -color finish remains intact. So far, no visible discoloration, peeling or color fading.Quality -like I have said, I have been using this for more than 5 months now and I haven’t encountered any issues.I will continue to use this DJI RS 3, 3-Axis Gimbal and will update my review as needed. I hope I was able to add value to help you decide.Pro Tip: If budget will allow, get yourself the following:1. Smallrig adjustable handle sling handgrip – this will greatly improve the ergo of the setup! I skipped the OEM handle sling and got this instead.2. Field Monitor (i.e. Desview PSII) – this will enable you to fold the flip screen of the camera thus, improve on balance and overall handling.3. Field monitor mount (i.e. SMALLRIG Monitor Mount EVF Holder) – this will allow you to attach the field monitor on top of the handle sling.4. Smallrig mini HDMI connectors (1.15 ft) – this will allow for better movement of the gimbal even if the field monitor is connected. Unlike a standard HDMI connectors that will hinder the movement of the camera.5. Wireless Lavalier Mic (only if needed) – this will prevent any movement restriction compared to using a hot shoe mounted mic (i.e. Rode videomicro)

Greatest Upgrade for me as an Amateur Content Creator
Once I properly balanced this DJI gimbal all my problems went away. I quickly learned to start adding the add-ons equipment to the sides of the gimbal instead of the camera or on top of the camera’s shoe mount. Minimizes the weight increase on the mounted camera. Makes life very easy when it comes to the balancing for the camera before every use.

Great stabilizer
Really really happy with the ronin3 although I don’t know what they are talking about lightweight slapping a camera on this thing and mic and you start putting things here and there it gets really heavy logically but just the stabilizer itself is heavy but for me that’s not a problem very very good material used and easy to use using YouTube to help explain the whole stabilizing part once you get the hang of it the ronin really gets its job well done

This gimbal has amazing features, is easy to use, and is compatible with various camera setups. However, it has some factory defects, limited compatibility, and balancing can be tedious. DJI RS 3 can’t hold A7IV with Tamron 28-75mm for long shoot, so I return and get the Pro version instead.

Auto Unlock doesn’t work

I’ve been trying to contact seller but can’tOne thing I noticed about it is that the Auto Unlock doesn’t work at all,,I checked the menu,,the app & dji themselves & found out it’s a factory defect….so should I return it cause I want what I’m paying for & that’s one of the main reasons why I purchased that specific gimbal

Canon R5 too big for this gimbal
I had to return it and get the larger pro version for my Canon R5. The eyepiece juts out too far and strikes the back of the gimbal which limited vertical movement.

Balancing needs refinement.

Once you get it balanced it’s buttery smooth! Everything you need for the price but Hold a tight grip though. I have a Sony A7Iv with a sigma 24-70 and it’s pretty heavy if i have to extend out from the tripod even with two hands. I love DJI because they pay attention to detail but the balancing seems to be a bit tedious. It limits your creativity when you have to decide, “do i really want to change lenses or add accessories but look silly rebalancing for 20 minutes?” I think they should put small knobs on each axis for quick balancing. Maybe it’s really not that hard, maybe it’s me? Regardless I’m frustrated.

Good but not great
Overall it does the job that I need it to do. However, I own a Blackmagic 6k and it’s a little too big for this model and I had to get a counterweight. The roll 360 mode doesn’t really work with my build.Also the focus ring is terrible.Other than that it’s solid

Unleash your creative moves.
Switched from the Weebill Family. There is a day and night difference. The algorithm is well put that after few hours of use the moves got really better. Auto Lock is an awesome feature and the locks really hold well. using with A7siii+24-70 G Master, the center of gravity is well put together that you feel less strain on your wrist.

Perfect compact setup
The features of this gimbal are incredible. Everything has been well-thought-out. It’s a perfect lightweight setup for the RX100VII. With the Sony Multi cable I can control the camera’s zoom directly from the RS3’s front dial. The game changer for me is Track Mode. The Ronin app Track Mode (motion control) allows me to mount on a tripod and get repeatable smooth pan/tilt shots at any speed (no need to spend money on an expensive pan/tilt system).Balancing your camera on the gimbal is very easy – the screen even shows data for each of the 4 axes and how balanced they are. The touchscreen is bright and easy to use. There are so many customization settings you can choose in the menus. The battery seems like it lasts over 12 hours. The auto-lock is genius (I will never buy another gimbal without this feature). I have zero complaints.
