Great watch, but disappointed with the color.

I would have given this watch 5 stars but there is one very disappointing issue. I ordered the black watch. In the product photos, the watch body and face look all black. But the watch I received has a black body, but the ring around the face is grey. It is clearly a different color, and that changes the look of the watch entirely. And in my opinion, it’s a change for the worse. If Amazfit’s customer team were to see this review, I would love a response as to why my watch has grey on it, and if there is a way to exchange it for a watch that is truly all black. The good: I like the watch’s large face and chunky build. Just what I wanted. It does a good job of tracking activity, and I really like all of the options to change the digital watch face. It’s a cool, functional watch overall. It’s also comfortable with a very adjustable band.

    Great value for the price

I’ve had this T-rex long enough now to write a brief review . Several months .There are videos showing the features so I’ll stick to basic concerns prospective buyers may have .I was considering purchasing a Garmin smart watch but figured I should buy a less expensive offering in the case I ended up not wearing the thing very often .This watch is very light weight and I forget it is even on my wrist . It is large but very comfortable and I have a small wrist ; about 6 1/3 inches diameter .The keeper on the band that secures the excess portion of the band beyond the buckle incorporates a small protrusion that interlocks with the holes in the band and prevents it from sliding around and allowing the band to flop free like every other watch band I’ve owned . I wish this was a feature on all polymer bands !I charge the battery to 90 % and recharge it when it gives me a warning @ 10% charge .It requires one hour to charge from 10 to 90% .I use the GPS function twice a day for cycling for a total of maybe 1 hour to 1.5 hours total / day and operate the watch with the screen normally off and the battery lasts about 15 days , although sometimes it will go 23 days if I’m only wearing it 5 days a week .I’m guessing it will last you at least 5 days if you are using the heck out of it each day , but it charges so quickly battery life should not be a concern .I do not sleep with it so I cannot comment on those features .The GPS is accurate as far as tracking your movements on the map but don’t buy this watch if accurate elevation data is important to you .I assume the internal clock is not accurate enough , it will give you very wrong elevation numbers each time you ask for it .The only thing I would like to be improved is that when using the countdown timer or stopwatch the watch does not display the time ( or anything else ) . You must cancel the function completely to view any other data .Overall this is a very capable device for such a low price . Very easy to operate .

Just doesn’t live up to the price.

Pros: Great fitness tracking options and capability.- Solid App.- Decent battery life. (Nowhere near the 18 days advertised but I knew that was nonsense going in. If you use the device in the manner intended you’ll get closer to 5 days. Which is awesome, IMO, and right in line with Fitbit.- Relatively speedy syncing with the app.- Lightweight. Unfortunately, this is also a con which I’ll address later.-Style and design. It looks like an actual watch and I really like the design.Cons: Frequently unresponsive. The touch screen has a success rate of about 50%. The “lift wrist to wake watch” is even less consistent. Even the buttons on the iOS app don’t always work. I bought this as an upgrade for my Fitbit and it’s maddening how bad it is for a $180 device. That being said, this is a common issue with almost any low end tracker I’ve ever used, but I didn’t expect it to this degree.- Cheap feeling construction. So this is supposed to be a rugged watch with “military grading”, but it honestly doesn’t feel very rugged. It’s very light and plasticy. In fairness, I don’t have any concrete proof that the watch isn’t durable, it just doesn’t feel as such to me. I can’t speak to the water resistance as I wouldn’t take a chance and swim with this watch on anyway.- The band. This one is annoying but not a deal breaker. It’s pretty cheap feeling too and the way the latch is designed makes it a bit tricky to get the device on and off. It is comfy though so not a deal breaker as I assume with time the band with get easier to work with.- And lastly, and this one left me scratching my head. No manual in the box. There is a booklet but it doesn’t tell you anything about actually using and operating the device. Not even a “quick start guide”. You’ve got to hunt that down on your own. What made this even more frustrating for me was the fact the watch came in a language I didn’t speak. I don’t know if they’re all like that but thankfully I know my way around things like this. So after about an hour of hoping I was pressing the right buttons while the watch updated, I was able to use the app to change the language to my native language. For reference I’ve owned Fitbits and Galaxy watches over the last few years. All have their problems for sure and I was never really a fan of either, but they’re both more usable and polished than the Amazfit Trex Pro. Which unfortunately, was quite a bit more expensive than any of my previous trackers.Summary: The Amazfit Trex Pro has some really nice fitness tracking capability with plenty of options and useful information. Unfortunately, it can be pretty frustrating to actually use sometimes. That all being said, I really do like the style and the actual fitness stuff/app. It just doesn’t do much to separate itself operationally from the pack, but it definitely belongs in the conversation.

    Watch face

I was unaware that this watch was compatible with a screen protector. Is there anyway to replace the face of the watch? My boyfriends is all cracked from his landscaping job.Had I known I could get a screen protector I would have absolutely done so, but it’s too late at this point.Any advise?

    Good entry-level fitness watch

PROS:Price-point, comfort, availability of band color for customization, variety of excercises, battery life and speed of rechargingCONS:Inconsistent heart rate, distance and altitude measurements, sticky buttons, lack on integration to other ANT or Bluetooth productsBought this to start triathlon training as I needed a fitness watch that was water resistant and would measure all three sports. Overall a decent watch for begginers but would caution around using this as the sole tool for measuing your metrics.HR monitor issues:The accuracy of the HR monitor wasn’t the best and I found that it didnt respond to changes in HR during the excercise and overestimated averages altogether. You can see in the photo that the watch (bottom section in black) showed an increasing HR the whole time whereas the chest monitor followed the workout more closley which was the same uphill/downhill circuit.Distance issues:The watch would record pool swimming but during the session the interface showed meters swam and then once completed the distance in yards.( I changed preferences to yards). This was annoying and I simply had to rely on the lap counter instead.Altitude issues:In the photo of the watch’s output, the bottom section in black shows the altitude during the workout. It is wrong in 2 ways. #1 – the course I complete is uphill and downhill only, whereas the chart indicates there are two peaks. #2 – the altitude is decreasing over the course of the workout which doesnt make sense as its the same circuit each lap.Sticky buttonsAfter a few weeks I noticed that the watch’s buttons were getting sticky which would randomly start workouts or unlock the watch. I have to clean the buttons with alcohol occassionally but it is annoying and I have never had issues with other watches.

    This watch is great!

I love this watch! I bought an extra glass protector for it just to have for the screen.I have hardly ever had any issues with this watch. It is incredibly durable. For working in a construction setting, the watch does not disappoint. I am able to hit it hard and I’m not even worried about it. I am notified when I get texts as well as phone calls, though not able to respond, which I am generally right by my phone anyways so it is okay. The app is just okay, I wish it paired better with iOS. This is obviously not an Apple Watch, which I enjoy, but they are expensive and fragile.I have had to buy an extra band for the watch because mine broke out of nowhere about 11 months into having the watch. But I was able to find a band pretty easily. The watch has some really cool features and I have recommended it to many people, as I would any Amazfit watch. This was my first Amazfit watch and I think I may give it to my girlfriend’s dad and get the newer T-Rex 2.

Why do people buy smart watches they have to charge all the time?

The original review below was for the TRex Pro. I luked that watch so much I bought the TRex 2 five minutes after it was introduced in the USA, directly from Amazfit. The TRex 2 did not disappoint. GPS works better and uses much less battery. Sensor works better, although it had some glitches before recent software upgrade. Battery life is phenomenal. This has been my best purchase in the last decade. And paying attention to the watch data has dramatically improved my quality of life in the last 6 months.Bought this for the battery life, and the fact that it looks similar to the Casio G shock it replaced. My goal is to monitor what my body is doing, and I do not care about all the phone interaction stuff. I run the heart rate measurement every minute, and have the sleep monitoring enabled. Watch only displays when it is being looked at, or button is pushed, and display is turned off at night, Battery life is outstanding, WAY better than the other watches I have looked at. I am too busy to take my watch off every night and charge it, and to me that would make it a PITA to own. I charge this one every two weeks, and it still usually has 20% charge left. The only exception is if I use the outdoor exercise modes, which turns on GPS. Then the battery drains quite fast. A 2.5 hour bike ride will knock the battery down 20%. I can live with that, but would like this watch with a larger battery. With a little effort, watch faces were easy to download. It paired with Zepp pretty easy, Zepp software is pretty straightforward to use. It is useful, but could be much more useful.Accuracy is good IF the watch is worn as directed. I slide the watch up my arm during workouts to ensure a solid connection and it almost exactly matches the good heart rate monitors on gym equipment. Since it matches any equipment I use, basic statistics suggests the heart rate IS extremely accurate. This watch is so useful that I am actively looking for an even better one. Cannot find one, but may try the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro. That is the only one I can find that might be better.

Most affordable and functional smartwatch on the market.

This would be my 3rd Amazfit smartwatch I have owned. I have had Fitbits, and Samsung watches, but the Amazfit has been the most reliable. In comparison to the Fitbit, the T-Rex pro is hands down the best for my lifestyle. It tracks all the activities I do, biking, walking, swimming and running, providing close to accurate readings. The HRM is very accurate, even with my low resting HR. The blood ox meter is extremely helpful, and after experiencing 2 years of the pandemic, provided me a good reading on my health. The functionality of the watch is very user friendly to me, with 4 crown buttons if you have wet hands and the face swipe is not picking up, this is a huge plus when swimming or doing activities and sweating. The most notable thing about the watch is its durability. Past smartwatches I owned had issues with the face cracking on the edge, but the T-Rex has a protected edge and protects from bumps that could hit the most delicate part of the face. Durability is very important to me and this watch has it in spades. The general things you would expect from a watch, like telling time and setting alarms and such are solid. and the sync app for the phone works really well. There are many different watch faces you can download, and there are some that you can customize to fit your style.I can view emails, text and other alerts I set up on watch, but I cannot respond. This to some may be a huge issues, but for me its not. I never used the talk to text on my watch or answered a phone call on my watch, mainly because I always have my phone with me and why text on a 2 inch circular screen when I can just use my phone. Same with phone calls. The GPS has always been solid with all Amazfit watches I had, to include this one. It connects fast to satellites and does a great job with tracking and backtracking my route. GPS on will drain the battery faster, but it doesn’t drain days off my charge, maybe 2-3% of battery when I use it.Battery life in all Amazfits has been great. The T-rex is rated for 18 days. I have not tested this out, mainly because I have a habit of charging one day a week regardless of current charge. However, the charge is really fast, 50% to 100% in 15 minutes. There are watch ban replacements specific to the T-Rex, there does not seem to be a universal (22mm) option. This is a bit of a disappointment, but I order a 4 pack of bans (various colors) and after switching out bands I understood why they don’t use a quick release universal band, durability. This watch is more rugged than a standard smartwatch, and the ban pin requires you to actually use a tool (provided with the 4 pack of bans). The bans themselves are not as stiff as one would expect, but I preferer a softer ban, so no issue with me.The price is excellent. It is not a $400 watch, and does not have an Apple or Samsung name on it, but it works on all Android and IOS phones, and is a fraction of the price. Its rugged, functional and has a user friendly interface. I track my sleep, HR, Blood ox, fitness, view emails and text, use my GPS, and customize my watch face on a regular basis. A very smart purchase for a smartwatch.

    Battery problem!

This watch works well I purchased it last year on Christmas morning. When it came in it worked great. With being a high school Cross Country and Track athlete, it works great to hold my data. With using everyday the battery lasts up to 7-8 days. Works well! Not heavy on the wrist and doesn’t look to big on the wrist. Great watch overall. I love it! It’s been great watch. This watch is very resistant to water and sweat. With training everyday for 2 1/2 hours of running. It can still work with the amount of sweat that happens. Then I go home and take a shower and wash it everyday. It still works great. Never had a problem with it.Till now. The only problem I have with this watch is I have barely had it for a year. The features on it work great. Love the watch but, for some reason, as of yesterday it stopped working. It shows its completely charged but when I got to take it off the charger it shuts completely off. I have tried to reboot it but I can’t. It won’t allow me long enough to try and reboot it before it shuts off completely. Once it is off it will not turn back on. I’m very disappointed that the watch barely lasted a year. This was a watch I was trying use for the next few years while I’m going into college. But the watch will not work anymore. With being an athlete I always need to have a working watch. I don’t have one anymore due to your guys watch not wanting to work.

    Convenient with an inconvenient band

I like this watch very much, with two major caveats. There are lots of features that I find handy. It has a fairly long battery life. The magnetic charge is very convenient, as long as you don’t bump it resulting in it disconnecting from charging the watch. I like the larger size of the watch, and the different faces I can choose from to quickly show me the things I care most about on any given day. Some of the faces I’ve used (that ALL include the time, and are all different in colors and styles) are:-Day of week/ FULL date/ battery life-Day of week/ day of month/ heart rate/ battery %/ step count-day of week/ month of year/ day of month/ battery %/ step count/ heart rate- battery %/ training load/ heart rate/ O2%/ day of week/ day of month/ local outside temperature high & low-step count/ weather/ FULL date/ bpm/ kcal/ distance/ battery life-bpm/ FULL date in a different format/ step count/ kcal/ distance/ battery %/ local outside temperature-day of week/ local outside temperature/ step count/ bpmCaveats:-You cannot use the watch while it’s charging (but that’s standard, so not a huge issue).-I wear my watch higher up on my wrist, onto my forearm. This wouldn’t be a problem, except that the inside of the watch band is textured, so it winds up digging into my skin, causing my skin to become raw after a few days. It’s about the length of time it takes to lose battery life, so I charge it overnight when it’s really low to get a break from that. There are other bands that can be purchased to replace the one it comes with. I just have yet to get one.-The app is not very intuitive, which could make a huge difference if you want to see your sleep, etc. metrics over a longer period of time. Honestly, I can’t find how to see more than the last day of activity.Overall, I really like the watch. I just wish it came with a different band and the app was more user friendly. I would probably even gift one, including an extra band in case the repient has the same issue with the standard as I do.

    Great watch so far.

I like that its so tough. I work hard and play hard so I need it to keep up. So far the only thing I didn’t like was when they say music control in the description they didnt say it wasn’t capable of playing through the watch. My only complaint…..

    Great GPS watch and affordable

I wanted one of those upscale GPS watches like from Garmin or Suunto. I had the Fitbit Ionic but it was glitchy, making it very unreliable. When I ran across this Amazon watch, it had all the bells and whistles I was looking for. I didn’t have much info on the brand, but I took a leap and bought this watch. After months of usage on trails, I am happy to report this watch exceeded my expectations. Here’s a couple bullet points:Battery life: let’s be real, all manufacturers of GPS watches provide battery life at lowest settings. Battery life is more than fine. Don’t need to go into the breakdown. I know what it’s like for a watch to be hungry for juice constantly. This isn’t one of them.Watch face: Vibrant colors. Readable face. I take it hiking in desert sun and can read it fine with sunglasses on. The only gripe one might have is the text size might be too small to read, but hey, this a large face compared to other smart watches.Comfort: Extremely light. Much, much lighter than non-smart watches. It never gets heavy even hours on trail. Strap is stretchy and there’s a learning curve on adjustment. Sometimes it feels to have a nice grip on my wrist, when in fact it’s sometimes too tight. A couple of days with the watch and you’ll get the hang of getting optimal comfort and usage.Durability: I hike a lot, but I don’t go bushwhacking. I can’t say I have tested the abuse it can take. Can handle direct sunlight and water, but I don’t know more beyond that.Fashion: It’s a nice piece to wear. No more bulkier that a g-shock watch, which it’s modeled after.Usage and Fuctionality: Out the box, it’s easy to use. Found it easy to link up with the ZEPP app. Watch face is touch screen, and at times I had to use the buttons instead because of sweaty hands. I found that to be a great feature when active and on the go.Price Point: affordable and you definitely get bang for your buck. This smart watch will make you feel like a smart shopper.Room for Improvement:- the sleep monitor is not reliable, but might be because how I wear the watch.- text small. It’s still a large watch face; can only do so much.- large menu. For some users, it would be a plus. For some it’s convoluted.- more watch face customizations would be welcomeOverall: T-Rex Pro is a solid GPS watch. Reliable, durable, and user friendly are my biggest take aways. Pleasantly surprised how much better it was to my previous big brand product; Fitbit Ionic. I hike and it transfers stats to third party apps like Strava with ease. This is not a you-get-what-you-pay-for product. A plethora of options and functions makes this watch feel like a steal at the low price point. At this point, I am not shopping around for new watches. I’m getting exactly what I want from this one and darn happy with it.

It’s a good watch, not great

I have had it a year now. I’ve had Amazfit before and wanted the same excellent battery life in a more durable watch for hiking and hunting. This watch has great battery life, as expected, on normal everyday use. Of course that’s expected to go down when using gps tracking and such, and it does significantly reduce the battery life. It linked well to Strava when I went skiing and was very accurate. I was with an Apple Watch user and we had identical days on Strava with different watches. The reason for the average rating is that the sensors don’t seem to be accurate. My sleep averages 3-4 hours a night, while my sleep number bed has me at 7-8. The heart rate monitor is high and the steps/distance, when walking with my wife and her Fitbit, are way off. Can’t seem to find where I can calibrate or adjust those sensors.I’ve updated the watch several time with software updates but still getting poor sensor readings. I also changed the band as I didn’t think the one that came with it was close enough to my skin, but that didn’t help.Overall I like the watch but expected the whole package. I have bought several screen covers, which I break all the time, and the screen has held up though the protectors.

    I wanted more battery life

I have an Apple Watch, but I hate charging every day. I got this looking for a good fitness tracking smartwatch with good battery life. It arrived at my house on a Thursday afternoon, and the battery was all the way down. I put it on the charger, and it updated the software, then said the battery was full, even though it had only been on the charger for about 10 minutes. I put it on, and it went from “100%” to about 25% overnight. So Friday evening, I put it on the charger overnight.Saturday I woke up, put my watch on around 8:30 a.m.. Now it’s Monday night at 7:30 and I’m at 68%, and I did a 40 minute workout this morning. It does everything I want it to do, and so far the battery life is great. If I get 5 or 6 days on a charge, I’ll be happy. The app is good, and I like the look and the size. So far, I recommend.

    Great watch!!

Update – I have had the watch for a few months now and the watch band has started irritating my wrist leaving a rash. There is a black stainless steel band that fits the watch that is sold on Amazon for about $13. I have never had a reaction like this to any watch band I have ever had so it makes me wonder what the band is made of. That and the fact is comes from China makes me concerned enough that I am getting a replacement band that is NOT made in China.Great little watch but… The instructions or lack there of for the watch can make it difficult to figure out. I still have not figured out how to work the sleep app. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. The mobile app is great for monitoring your health and workouts. You can even turn on and off certain features on the watch, edit your profile and, enter data as needed. The battery life is great depending on the features you turn on. The more you turn on the quicker the battery will drain. GPS and the sleep function use the most. The watch arrived with 60% power and to my surprise was fully charged in an hour. It has been 9 days so far on the first charge with the battery now at 16%. I will get one more day maybe two before I charge it. In all this watch is great for those healthy conscious people. The price is also better the some simular watches out there. I am a big guy and did not measure my wrist before I bought it. It almost did not fit. This watch is the best watch I have ever bought in my opinion. I hope to have it for many years to come.

Great simple smart watch…Battery life is about half of what is claimed.

I have enjoyed the watch and all of its functionality. I love my analog watches and the T-Rex Pro is my first foray into the smart watches. It has proven to be simple and easy to use. I was pumped when I read it has an 18-20 day battery life as the rest of my family has the fruit watch that needs charging daily. It is reliable and durable – my wife tells me I’m rough on watches and this one has yet to scratch or even dent after several months of daily wear. I do wish I was able to get notifications from more apps. The big social medias are there but some other apps don’t have notifications. Battery life was definitely one of the selling points for me. I was excited to read about 18-20 day battery and thought long and hard before buying. I saw some differing reviews on the matter but I decided to take a chance. I consistently get a 10 day battery life. Maybe I don’t have power save methods on or something like that but I was hoping to approach the advertised battery life. Overall, 10 day battery life seems fine compared to other options and I am satisfied. I would still recommend this to anyone wanting a simple smart watch that looks nice and is rugged!

    Fantastic battery life

I really like this watch. I had a Samsung 4 before and I could only get 8 hours out of a battery, which was untenable. I don’t care much about the health features on this so I turned all of the active monitors off. Using just notifications, the battery was still at 98% 16 hours later. I’m sure it would be a bit less with sp02 and heartbeat turned on, but still outstanding. The watch faces are very limited and you can’t make your own. I ended up buying one in the app that I liked for 99 cents. Not a big deal.Sometimes text notifications can be a little delayed but we aren’t talking a long time. Maybe 10 seconds at most. The notifications are more readable than the Samsung I tried.I don’t like the band that much and I am not sure if you can replace it with a standard NATO band that I like. Not a big deal but the soft silicon band the Samsung has is more comfortable. I can live with this, though.Overall, I am happy. This does everything I wanted and it is a fraction of what the Samsung 5 costs with infinitely better battery life. I didn’t want to be tied to a charger and this one should go days without needing it. This will get a lot of wear time.

    Fantastic overall experience!

It’s day 3 of using this watch and so far I love it! It’s comfortable to wear all day and during sleep. The battery life is very impressive, I’m sitting at 72 percent on the 3rd day and I have everything turned on for tracking except gps since that’s not something I fully need constantly or maybe even ever. No you can’t reply to notifications but the fact that you can integrate a notification for apps at all is very helpful. It doesn’t always show the app name though but if you make a mental note of what apps you want notifications for it’s pretty easy to check and say okay maybe I should see my phone to get the details. It’s a good reminder in case you don’t notice your phone. The watch looks so good and definitely has G-Shock vibes and styling and the interface is very responsive and easy to navigate. The drop down quick settings is feature rich with a toggle for theater mode! I’ve never seen that on a wear os watch or Fitbit but what a nice little feature to include. You can customize so many options for how often it reads heart rate, how sensitive the lift to wake function is, when the always on display is active or turned off. Everything is very tunable instead of just being an off or on toggle like most other watches. Coming from a Fitbit Versa 2 this has blown me away, it’s somewhere between a Fitbit and Wear OS experience but with 2 to 3 times the battery life it’s hard to complain! The sleep tracking is very detailed and seems as accurate as my Fitbit and to top it all off the watch faces that are available are all super clean and crisp offering many details for tracking on the face. My biggest issue is actually picking a favorite face because I like so many of them! Another nice touch is being able to customize the Select button as a shortcut which I used for music controls since it basically gives you a remote control for whatever music app you use. I like it because if I’m walking or driving I can just tap the watch to skip songs. Overall very impressed and glad I did my research beforehand because this watch kept coming out on top for my needs and it definitely wins.

FANTASTIC battery life. Great value on functionality

This is a great little watch. I can literally make a full battery charge last roughly 2 weeks with standard (but not max) brightness. The screen on time is adjustable, which is helpful for me as I work in a medical setting and need to see the second-hand long enough to calculate an accurate resp count or heart rate. Sleep tracking is on there too. The app has more functions than I can describe here. But I will say I have it integrated with GoogleFit which in turn is integrated with my Cronometer app. Love that.Timers, alarms, stopwatch, weather, humidity, phone finder all with a few touches on either the display or toggle buttons on the side of the watch. There is more but those are the features I use. It’s bright enough that I can use it as a small flashlight to adjust my home thermostat in the middle of the night with a flick of the wrist. My only real gripes are that the HR on the display does not seem to be in real time but operates on some sort of averaging algorithm. For example if I take a flight of stairs it will not update the HR immediately on the display, however it does seem to keep track well enough in the app. Also, I think you need to activate the app on your phone periodically for the phone finder feature to work. Sometimes I try to use this feature and it doesn’t work – instead prompting me to activate the app. But only sometimes. It feels like the app may go into a “sleep mode” or something. But if I activate it, say once a day, this is not an issue.I cannot speak for it’s water durability, as I’ve not put it to the test yet.By far more features and value out of this than I had with my FitBit Versas. Recommended!

he watch is at 100% battery, but as soon as I unplug the charger, it turns off.

At the beginning, I really loved this watch. After one year battery was ok with normal reduction of batery 85%. Unfortuntally the first thing I had to change was the rubber band. The material is really weak and with a mixture of sun and humidity the material didn’t last longer than a year. After changing the rubber band and now after almost 2 years of use, yesterday happened something really weird. I forgot to charge it and got turned off as some other times that I didn’t have the charger with me. When I got home I put it charge and realiced it charged kind of fast. It was not the first time, they normally charge pretty fast. The problem now is that the battery show me is 100% percent charged but as soon as I umpluged it from charger it switch it off. I did my research on internet and I found 4 persons with the same issue. They are claiming that the brand has stopped to updating the firmware, and they belive that is the problem, as soon as they launched the Trex pro2 they stop supporting the Trex pro. They have look for support and the brand never has respond. One of the person that has the same issue though it was battery. So he bought a replacement and changed it. At the begging it worked good but at 87%percent of battery (with new battery) it got turned off again. So what is happening? is this kind of planned obsolescence for this model? It seems to be definitely some software issue. Be aware of this brand. Is really bad that taking good care of this 180 USD watch it can not last at least 3-4 years. I hope to find any way to fix this issue and I hope the brand release any firmware update to fix this problem. The people I found on internet dated the problem from mid June and July and for me was in September 14th. I hope can update this review with good news.

1 week in to owning the device

So I ordered this watch, and I always do my research before I buy anything. The Pros and Cons are mixed. The watch is great.Battery Life is as advertised.Swiping around to get to different screens can be a pain. if you have bigger hands then your fingers are big and you have to maybe swipe a few times before it catches. going back to the home screen from others is clunky unless you use the Back button on the device. The Band that is provided is Garbage! Rubber that sticks to your skin causing the clasp to dig into your skin.Software interface is kind of clunky to set up. I am an IT guy and I had to go online and find the manual to get it set up. This was just for the basic features. I am not looking forward to trying to set up any of the extra features that it comes with.Notifications are only for Text not email. (Yes I have given the watch permissions to everything except my bank account)Watch does not appear to make any noise at all so even if you get a call or text the vibration of the device is easily missed.Very hard to determine what has to be managed on the app and what has to be managed on the watch.Sleep monitoring it just tells you the information. and tells you values and percentages that mean absolutely nothing with out having a benchmark to compare it to.so over all decent product but not for the (non tech savy person). They will need to have someone set it up for them or it will take a long time to find and read the manual (again look it up online its not in the box) and then set the device up the way they want it. so many acronyms that I had a hard time figuring them out. nothing to compare data to for some of the apps. The App really misses the mark in set up process and explaining what stuff is. The watch works great and I can see my texts when my phone tells me that I have them because of the weak vibration. The manufacture tried to put to much stuff into one device and did it poorly. Gonna give it a couple of more days then probably return the device for something that may provide more information and be a bit easier to use as well as have better support.

    Compass is not accurate

Excellent watch in most regards. Its a good looking piece and I’ve received many compliments. The wife and I spent a weekend at a beach resort and I swam with it and no issues whatsoever. My only complaint, which honestly does not affect me at all as I will never use it, is that thw compass is not accurate at all. If your life depended on it you will get lost in the wilderness. LOLBut other than that a lovely practical tough smart watchUpdate April 30The compass just needed to be recalibrated. This you can do by turning off the watch then go to the compass and it will ask you to recalibrate

Not Sure What Fitness Watch? Get the Amazfit T-Rex Pro

Don’t know how many multiple product reviews I’ve read, and everything seemed to point to the Garmin Fenix7 or more. $900, when I’m not sure seemed stupid. I was jaded by the backhanded complements I read about AMAZfit. But at around 150$, what was to lose? Nearly a month later and I’m totally happy with battery life, functions, etc. The only challenges I find is seeing the screen in very bright sunlight despire having brightness turned way up. But otherwise this thing is a killer deal. My only other option I’d go for now is the TREx2, but it’s a bit larger in diameter and this T-Rex Pro just is a perfect fit, so I’m not sure what I’d gain by a fitness watch that overshadowed my wrist.Get this: I’m 74 and I’ve totally figured this watch out in less than a week. It tracks my altitude gain when I daily climb/scramble up the mountain in my backyard. The vibe alarm is strong enough to get my attention but not startling if doing something dangerous. The summit is around 8200 feet, and this watch gives me 8020. Not sure which is correct but it’s close enough for me and it tracks my altitude gain and loss quite well. I got this as a test to see if I like this kind of technology, and frankly, it’s all that I need. Great price. Great fit. And as I know from some of my Casio purchases, there is such as thing as TOO BIG. A watch that is too big gets left home. One that is JUST RIGHT stays on my wrist. And that is where the TREX PRO permanently resides. As tempted as I am by the TRex2’s new / updated features, the pics I see on wrists make me think it could end up being a dangler – those who have worn too big watches likely know what I mean. The Pro is perfect, just big enough but not too big. What a deal. I am completely satisfied. My Gshocks all have scracthed faces; the Amazafit so far is un touched.Love it.

Good smartwatch but some limitations if you sleep in the day

Ok so I really like this watch. The battery life is amazing, it looks good, it’s rugged and the fitness features are solid. The only thing I don.t like is the sleep tracking. If you sleep normal hours then it’s good, you get all the details but if you work nights then sleep in the day then it just records sleep has naps and you do not get a breakdown of deep sleep, awake time etc.

It’s second day and yet it’s still 83% power. Navigating the icons is so simple and can be done so quickly. Brightness? No problem, you ca have it but more power consumption. I set mine to average, and voila it’s not power hungry. You can change the clock face anytime with those free faces given. It even has a flashlight!!

    Very rugged, nice screen, handsome.

I like the battery in this watch, it lasted me 8 days plus and I have all of the features turned on. I went to charge it this morning it was at 13% and it charged to 100% in less than an hour. My Samsung watch 4 took almost two hours to complete the same task. I want a watch I do not have to charge every night, and brother this is it!!! I actually love the fact it syncs directly with Google fit. I don’t need another app to do this like my Samsung. I get text and score updates, phone calls all I really want in a smart watch. The fitness app on this watch is of the hook, it gives me more information then my Samsung watch 4. I can track my sleep and not have to charge when I am on bed like my Samsung. This watch is the real deal I am so happy I purchased it exactly what I was looking for. If you’re looking for a watch that’s rugged that has a long battery life and it’s good looking this is it. Go ahead and pull the trigger. You Will love this phone and it is the real deal and it has GPS which I love to when I go for walks in the morning it tracks without having to have my phone with me. Best basic smartphone watch there is.

The watch face options are great!

The charge time for this watch is very fast. I’ve charged it from 4% to 100% in less that 30 minutes. The charge will last about 4 days when I have most of the tracking modes on (steps, sleep tracking, heart rate, etc). The watch face options are great. You can buy some faces, but there are plenty of free ones that look good. Overall happy with the purchase.

Really good, but on borrowed time

I’ve had my watch for almost a year now and I have appreciated the quality and the features. It’s tough, easy to navigate and being able to use the watch with the buttons along with the screen is a welcome addition (my GTR became unusable due to the screen not accepting input). All of that has been great. Now the negative. The watch has not kept its max charge as my Bip and GTR did. I had my Bip for 3 years before the two week charge started dropping. I bought my GTR in 2020 and switched November last year due to the aforementioned issue but the charge would last for at least 5-7 days before the battery ran out. It is now less than a year and the T-Rex needs to be charged about every 4-5 days. This is an issue for me as I suspect it will drop to 2 days or so by the end of the year.

    So far so good

It was delivered yesterday (7/19/2022). The watch does not come with a manual per see. There are videos that helped with setup, though. It does not use Wear OS but it does sync with almost every App I have. The o2 sensor is flaky so far but that could just be me. The heart rate sensor seems reliable. There is a barometer but I have yet to compare that with the local weather channel. There is a compass feature that appears to function correctly. With the internal GPS I don’t need to have my phone with me to track my activities and it syncs when opening the Zepp app. Sleep tracking works but the display in the Zepp App is cryptic and lacks clear explanations. It comes with the normal nags (Like it’s time to stand up, walk, etc) I have not had a chance to test all the functionality so far. What is lacking that I have noticed so far is the ability to turn off alarms on my phone from the watch. I can turn the synchronized watch alarm off but I also need to turn it off on the phone, too. The OS provides email notifications (I have 5 email apps but so far only 2 notifications work). So far I can delete email notifications on the watch only. Instagram works – I did not see this in other reviews. The watch itself is rugged and the band allows many adjustments and fits well. (I have large wrists). I’ll update this review as I gain additional experience. So far it meets all my expectations. It is far better than “Fitbit” (I’ve tried their high-end watch that has afib detection and this one does not) and this has more functionality.

Great for data logging of health issues.

For the most part this is a great product. I have used it for about 9 mo now. The watch still has a really good battery life all during these 9 mo.The feature I needed the most was the Sleep and Heart rate monitoring. Mostly the heart rate. I have Bradycardia. Sometimes my heart rate drops into the 30-40 range. This seriously restricts what I can do or how far I can walk. The feature I needed the most was the Sleep and Heart rate monitoring. Mostly the heart rate. I have Bradycardia. Sometimes my heart rate drops into the 30-40 range. This seriously restricts what I can do or how far I can walk.Pros:Most of the watch functions work well. For the most part the watch has seemed to be water resistant for normal use. The GPS functions do work well (Just takes a little time to get the reading) I tested reading for O2 and heart rate with the VA vital sign equipment and find it to be acceptably accurate. +- 1 or 2 on O2 or heart rate. The ZEPP app also seems to be for the most part, a well made app (With one MAJOR exception, covered in Cons)Navigation seems simple the data is presented in a way that is helpful. Lots of fitness choices (Walking, running, cycling ect) Do to my disabilities I do not use them much, but they all seem to work well when I can use them.Cons:First the watch ‘s touch screen is very frustrating when selecting from the menu. (I just learned to navigate and select using the buttons) It also does not show the screen about half the time with an normal “Check the time on the watch arm movement.” For some reason it seems to work best when you are in bed with it on.I indicated at the top I use this for heart rate data logging mostly. I also like to track my steps during the day. What I found is the app is designed for “Normal Humans Only!” If you are sick, recovering from an injury, or disabled the goals The app has a BULLY like couching system that can get VERY OLD FAST! If you have problems walking it will keep telling you day after day you FAILED! The goal system does not allow you to select any thing below 2000 steps a day. If you are disabled, or recovering from a bad injury. The last ting you need is a BULLY reminding you that you are FAILING day after day.I used the apps Feedback feature. (That is a Pro having Feedback in the app) The result was a real Con!I tried to give feedback about how they set it up so some people (disabled, sick, or injured) could not set goals below 2000 steps a day. It took several attempts with the feedback to get anyone to even reply. They basically said they do not care! It is just fine the way it is.I noticed in tracking Sleep it does cover naps. It does not think you need to sleep more than 20-30 min for a nap. (A Power nap) The program again gets out the BULLY to tell you FAILED AGAIN.I only gave this a 3 star rating. One star lost do to the BULLY in the app. One star lost for the Feedback I got for them!It is a FANTASTIC data logger! It is a Great watch, and a good app. Just a few more refinements it could get a 5 star rating.

    Rugged smart watch

Does almost everything i need. First bought a regular square shaped “apple like” watch but wanted a more rugged one as I beat them up. It tracks my laps in the pool well once I entered the length, good GPS and accurately measures my hikes and runs, I use the timer and the workouts mostly, I found that he HRM is not reliable when I run, it spikes to 160 and the beginning of the run which is normal for me but it does not come down unless I stop and sit down, i started running with a chest strap HRM and right on after a while I come down to 90-120 but the watch stays up there. Otherwise I like it, I have already some scratches and that would have looked bad in a “dress like” watch but on this it does not matter. All together I am happy with the watch, i think it is a good product for the price. I wander if I could disable the HRM and pair it with my Wahoo chest strap, I will look into it. Very good battery like, I charge it every 5 days, it depends of how you use it of course, and I like the sleep tracking app, neat and is telling me that I sleep better than i thought I was.

    Great watch for the price

What watch is great! The only issue I have with it is the battery life. Description states up to 18 day’s battery life. It doesn’t last anything close to that, not even half that! At best maybe a week in between charges. Still that is my only issue with the watch. Coming from an Apple Watch that I had to charge sometimes twice a day, it’s an improvement.

    Issues with battery

I’ve been using Amazfit from the time you could only order from China. I’ve liked their products. I bought the T-Rex Pro in Sept 2021 and used it daily charging about once a week. I liked the fitness tracker metrics, heart rate sensor, notifications, and long lasting battery. The reason I bought the T-Rex Pro was because my T-Rex (1st Gen) battery wouldn’t make it through a full day anymore. I used it for about 2 years. I bought the T-Rex Pro and lo and behold, I’m having battery issues again in two years. This time the watch won’t turn on off the charger. I can’t even reset the watch to troubleshoot. I tried various button combinations, but couldn’t find any combination to factory reset. Finally admitting to myself the watch is dead, I’m thinking to myself if I want to purchase another Amazfit watch.I like the brand enough that I’m giving a new model a try; albeit a lower end one (under $100) however, with more features. Apple was already put under fire for a battery fiasco. I’m hoping Amazfit is not purposefully bricking these watches. Here’s to hoping for a better review on the next watch.

Good watch for the basics like heart rate, steps and sleep

Is my third smart watch and the first one I paid more than fifty dollars for. I wore the watch for just over two weeks and here is what I like dislike. Accurate with measurements for heart rate, steps and altitude changes from my experience. It is highly durable as I never realized how much I bang my arm into every day. The battery is great but like all watches the more afunctions s you use the faster the battery gets used. Spo 2 is very close to my pulse oxygen meter. Okay what I did not like. The watch is big and thick, thicker than I imagined and you can feel it’s weight. It took several days of wearing to get used to. I have a small wrist and it would dig into my wrist bone when doing yoga moves and pop the band once in awhile. This is why I returned it. Sleep tracking works but not highly accurate to submit to my doctor as my Doctor reminded me is not a medical grade tool. The barometer function is a little hard to interpret some time’s using by itself and not in a work out mode. GPS works good out in the open but not inside large buildings well so tracking your mileage at work in a large building is not going to work as where my iPhone does. One very good point is that it work with the help app on iPhone. May think about buying the Amazfit GTR or similar but smaller round and not as think, don’t plan on using tight cuff shirts with this watch it’s not going to work.

    Disappointed

I bought this hoping I’d get a good watch to track sleep and BP. It never gives me the information like it use to and the vitals just don’t work.

    Great watch

I bought this one for my father because was large screen. Is easy to read and understand. He likes it because is easy for him to use and monitor his heart rate

Not overcomplicated, and for a guy who just wants a nice-looking and capable watch; this is it

Ok, not a super in-depth review on an extremely capable watch here, but after two months of use, here’s the review. It’s awesome.I had a Luminox Recon (non-smart watch) for 10 years that I literally NEVER took off. Lost it in a lake because bands really never stayed on that well. So, with a wristwatch literally being an extension of my personality and my “look”; I stressed the hell out. I didn’t want to jump on the smartwatch bandwagon and just wanted a simple good looking and tough watch to glance at the time, time my workouts, and let me know what date it was without costing me over $300. Couldn’t find one that I thought was worth the price of admission. I purchased a couple of watches (Amazfit T-Rex Pro and a Suunto watch) to try out for a couple weeks and hopefully decide on one. The T-Rex Pro won. There’s waaaaay more capabilities here with this watch than I’ve even delved into, but the things I love about it are as follows:1) Looks – this thing looks baddass. Not too big or small on my wrist. I was, surprisingly, able to find a watch face that I loved and looked extremely similar to my Luminox. Yeah, it cost an additional $1.99 in the app store, but awesome!2) Sturdy – I’ve knocked it around a bit since I never take it off, and it is holding up better than I thought so far. No scratches or dings (buy yourself a screen protector anyway). I especially like how the pin that holds the watch band on is a “through-design” pin instead of a compression pin. These pins on the T-rex are screwed on, so I don’t have to worry about the watch band falling off again unless the rubber band itself breaks or deteriorates. Also the single band keeper that holds the tail of the unused band is great; it has a ridge in it that sinks into the watch band adjustment hole so that it stays in place and holds the tail of the band securely.3) Comfort – more comfortable than my Luminox rubber wrist band. This wrist band has way more holes for adjustment which I appreciate and the band is a bit stretchy/flexible. It actually feels good on my wrist.4) Capabilities – I track my workouts, and it’s super awesome that the watch now tells me what my heart rate is within fat burning/aerobic/anaerobic levels when doing so. Super cool. It also has great tracking abilities with the limited amount I have used them (sleep for instance). It’s actually helped me with either picking up or dropping my intensity of workouts in a positive manner. I only have to charge the watch every 7 days; and it takes just a little more over only 1 hour to fully charge the watch. So good! My wife is so mad her Samsung watch basically needs to be charged every single day.5) App – the app is cool and informative and comprehensive. One complaint is that for the weather info to show up on my watch face I have to connect the watch to the app. For whatever reason, the weather info stops showing up on the watch face eventually though and I’ll have to open the app up again and connect. Not sure if it loses connection or what; seems weird that it stops relaying data to the watch for weather.Overall, with the limited functionality I use this watch for, I’m way more pleasantly surprised and happy with this watch than I thought I would be as an old-skool analog watch user who fought getting with the times and switching out. Love it.

Good Looking, Capable Watch, Built to Last

First, why I purchased the T-Rex Pro has everything to do with the two digital watches I had before I purchased the T-Rex Pro. Bear with me. More details about the watch itself below that.HUAWEI GT 2EMy 1-year old HUAWEI GT 2E watch strap broke and fell into a trash dumpster, which I didn’t notice until it was too late. The $130 Huawei digital watch needed $4 screen protectors which broke almost bi-week, and the watch face eventually scratched up once I stopped replacing the protectors. The lesson here for me was that I wanted something more durable, similar to the Garmin Fenix 3 I had for 5 years prior to this watch.GARMIN FENIX 3My $650 Garmin Fenix 3 had come with a Saphire un-scratchable watch face. I loved this watch, treated it like a beast until the battery died (which is un-replacable). The memory for my love of the Fenix 3, with the bulky feel, and durable, sporty look, brought me to the T-Rex Pro, which is far less expensive. I was able to purchase the T-Rex Pro with a discount on amazon for $154.T-REX PROI’ve had the T-Rex Pro for several weeks, notably while moving locally and put it through an initiation where I accidentally clanked it against several doorways while walking with jumbo boxes in hands and it came through without a mark, even in one case having white paint stuck to the bezel from a wall where I had to peel off the paint with a utensil from the watch bezel. But no scratches through the 5 day ordeal despite the bezel hitting various doors, etc. The raised bezel no doubt has protected this watch face where the Huwei had failed time and again. As far as I can tell the watch face should hold up well without screen protectors. In terms of features, I’ve seen several reviews incorrectly state that you can only run one app on the watch at a time. They say, for example, if you’ve started the timer then you can’t use the stopwatch, etc. Not true. When you have an app working on the watch just LONG-PRESS the “BACK” button and it will bring you out of the current app and back to the watch face where you can go back into your app list to select another app to use and run while the other one is working. It is possible to use multiple apps at the same time.I mostly use the watch for notification for calls, emails, and texts. It does an adequate job for this. I don’t need to respond to them but just see what I need to get to while I’m out and about. The pop up notifications to alert you to a new text/email are a little too quick before disappearing for my tastes. When using the Notifications app to read an individual text/email, the messages are again on screen for only a few seconds before automatically kicking back out to the list of texts, so I need to go back and select/open the text again to get whatever part I missed. Also, a word in a text message will sometimes be broken up over two lines. It’s not a huge deal in terms of functionality for but I also think it’s something that should be fixed as it isn’t professional look IMO. I can get past these small issues personally but you should know about them before purchasing this watch all the same.I love the look of the watch: the blue color suits me well and I like how the band feels more integrated with the overall look of the watch with the raised texture on the side of the band. In some online video reviews the blue watch color sometimes seemed a little greenish depending on the lighting but in personal it’s more of a matt blue grey which I do like and am pleased with. Please note, I’ve seen some people say there aren’t replacement bands for this watch because they don’t use the quick release mechanism on the band. You CAN purchase aftermarket bands for this watch but those bands require two small screw drivers (usually they come with the replacement band) and this was the very same process I used with my Fenix 3. The feel of the watch is good on the wrist and it’s not too heavy. My fenix 3 had real heft to it which I kind of liked and wouldn’t mind if the T-Rex Pro was even heavier. I imagine though most people would prefer the lighter feel of this watch.I downloaded a watch face that reminded me of one I had on the Fenix 3. I used the “AmazFaces” app from the iPhone store for a much wider selection of faces to download. Make sure in the T-Rex Pro “Zepp” watch app to toggle the watch setting for “Discoverable” to “ON” to be able pair and download watch faces from the AmazFaces app.The battery is very good. I still won’t use an Apple watch because I don’t like taking off my watch at night to charge and I like the option of not charging the battery for more than a few days. For instance, I misplaced my charger while moving, so I simply turned off all of the notifications, monitoring and special features, etc and I went 8 days using only 25% of the battery. But, should I turn all monitoring/features on such as heart rate, notifications, watch face always on, etc, I can use well more than 10% in a day. I like being able to adjust and balance what I want to use on the watch and keep a happy medium to battery length. All in all, I feel I have everything I wanted with my Fenix 3 at a big discount (sacrificing a little bit of the glitz of having a silver bezel, and the sports app, etc) but still have the pleasant feeling of a rugged watch that will give me a long battery life, take a beating, and provide the features I want.

    Battery life

First of all, the elephant in the room. With my personal use, I was able to go 18 days without charging it. It just didn’t die. Even when I eventually did charge it, it still had about 10% left.I used the watch all day every day and even wore it to sleep a few times. I track my workouts 5 days a week, control my music, and answer / ignore calls with it. The Zepp app that interprets all your workout data is very cool. Keeping track of steps, PAI, EPOC, workout intensity, time and date is very easy all on the watch itself, with explanations and breakdowns of what everything means and how to improve or maintain them.Pros:-Waterproof as far as I’m concerned (rain, washing hands, wearing in shower)-Insane battery life (charging almost only once per month is nuts)-Instant and reliable connection to my phone-Can use watch to find phone or phone to find watchCons:-If band isn’t tight, sometimes the HR won’t track correctly if at all-Band can get itchy if you sweat a lot and don’t use alcohol wipe every so often-My text message alerts have never worked-No phone alerts other than calls have workedI would still highly recommend this watch for anyone looking to get a rugged smart watch for tracking your health. I love this thing.

Could be great with improvement of the basics

I’ve just purchased this watch after 6+ years of using a Tomtom multisport. It’s already turned into a bit of a love/hate relationship. I really thought I was going to love this watch and was so excited after reading the reviews, but I’m getting more disappointed by the day.First, what’s good. The battery life is awesome, likewise the ability to track different stages of sleep. The watch feels durable, I like the ability to change the watch faces, and there’s lots of features that I appreciate like the swim stroke count, heart rate, oxygen saturation and stress tracking in addition to things like the compass and ability to sense temperature. What’s driving me mad? The basics are not well done. When I’m running/ open water swimming, I want to be able to quickly glance at the watch to see distance/clock time/workout time/ current pace/ average pace. On my old tomtom, you could easily toggle between these screens so that the metric you wanted to see was large and readable at a quick glance. With the t-rex, all of these metrics are displayed, but all on one screen, so they’re tiny and I have to pretty much stop swimming to be able to read them. Not feasible in a race. This just seems like a huge oversight as many people would surely want to glance down and check pace more easily. The other things that’s a massive disappointment is the ability to track pool training. I found the watch OK while actually in the pool but when I then look at the workout afterwards and upload it to strava, 99% of the information is lost. All you get is an average and maximum speed and some other metrics like average stroke count. If I’m doing sprint sets, then average speed (per 100m with the t-rex) is totally meaningless, as I’m sprinting hard, then resting- that rest time brings down my average speed. Even though my tomtom was super old and basic compared to the t-rex, it gave me separate pace information for every 25 or 50m during the swim. This also meant that after the workout I could look at my pace when doing freestyle compared to medley work or compare my pace on 50m sprints to that on 200m sets. With the t-rex, my strava file just lumps everything together as one ‘lap’ (in the last case, a 2.5km lap). It essentially means that my pool training data becomes totally useless. The other issue for me which may bother others less is that there’s no zepp app for windows. I strongly dislike having to use my phone and would rather connect the watch to my laptop and view data on a large screen. There’s no option to do that so everything has to be via a phone. It means that I don’t enjoy interacting with the app and would rather just transfer everything to strava on the computer, but as above, lots of data is lost when doing so.

    Nice for the price

This watch is nice. But it’s not perfect. There’s a ton of watch faces to chose from. More than 100, I’d say, but most you have to pay .99 cents to 2.99 each for. So that sucks. The other downside is some of them don’t show the weather in Fahrenheit, only Celsius. Or the temp doesn’t stay on the screen unless the app is open on my phone in the background. One face I like a lot has the year as “20202” instead of “2023”. The battery lasts about 3 days, not weeks like they claim. I don’t run all the options, just the weather, steps and heart rate. It’s on full brightness and 15 second display before it goes dark. When I adjust the settings to conserve power, it lasts maybe one more day…maybe 2. But still not weeks long. Either way, it charges fast. Within 30 minutes it goes from 25%-100%. The watch band is not hard but I like that. Some reviews say it’s cheap feeling but it’s just elastic a little. Makes it more comfortable. You can see texts and calls, but you can’t reply to any of them. Ultimately, this smart watch just lets you know what your phone would show you, without being able to interact with it. For the price point, that’s all I wanted. I’d buy it again

One of the most impressive smart watches!

I used a Fitbit for the past few years but when it broke, I knew it was time for a new look. I had recently purchased an Amazfit Band 7 for my daughter and I really liked how user friendly it was, color display and how fast it charged so I thought I’d find myself a similar one but for someone like me that hikes and does trail running. After extensive research on not only Amazfit but Garmin, Samsung and other “budget” brands on Amazon, I finally went with the T-Rex Pro. The price was just right, not too expensive to justify on a smart watch and not so cheap that you start to question why it’s so cheap. Once I received it, I was instantly in love. The size is 47mm, which is a little bigger than I wanted but the T-Rex 2 is 42mm and thats just too small for me. It’s incredibly lightweight, almos to the point you cant feel it but with the 47mm diameter you know its there. The display is bold and crisp and the dial interface is very responsive which was a big factor for me. The wrist wake up feature is much faster than Fitbit (which drove me crazy with Fitbit). I love the giant library of workouts, including Trail Running, which I didn’t notice on many other models. One of the biggest features this has that most in this price range dont have is the GPS function which I really need in the wild. The app is basic and easy to use and I havent noticed any limiting issues with it so far. The charging is incredible! The first day I used my T-Rex Pro I charged it overnight to 100%, I was on it all day the next day, changing faces, changing settings, just doing the most to make it exactly how I wanted it. Hours and hours on it and it only went down to 86%. Here’s the kicker, I put it to charge and it was back to 100% in five minutes!!! Seriously a great product and I cant wait to do more with it!

    Amazing Battery life

Heart rate, Steps, and sleep is all I really use it for. Here’s my list of Disappointments, it doesn’t automatically charge when I’m on my laptop, I had to custom cut an anti glare protector, I have to take it off 2 to 3 times a month, that’s with charging it 1 to 2 times a month. Hoping the charging cable is still were I left it. 3+ weeks ago. Spec says 18 days I just can’t remember how long ago I left charged it.

**UPDATE on the battery life** BAD BATTERY LIFE

UPDATE: May 26th 2021,Got my replacement T Rex Pro yesterday evening (05.25.2021)Fully charged it by 8pm, it’s 3:42pm the next day (05.26.201) I’ve lost 30% in less than 24 hours, the battery life on these suck, I haven’t used GPS or any fitness tracking, just wore it after it was fully charged, wore it to bed, raise to wake off and wore it to work the next day… lost 30%… wack wearable.DO NOT BUY ITAmazfit doesn’t care and falsely Advertises their battery life. You’ll get 4 days max with little to no use.UPDATE: May 21st 2021,I scheduled a replacement of this watch, I can’t get more than 4 days max out of the battery, notifications off, vibration off, brightness 1/3 full maybe, I’ve lost 30% in a day and a half, if the second one does the same thing I’m returning it and getting a refund, just poor advertising on Amazfits part, 18 days?! 9 days?! How?! By leaving it home on the table on battery save mode?! Lol this is ridiculous, such a bummer…UPDATE: May 15th 2021.I reduced my original 5 star review to a 2 star review because of one (in my opinion) major issue. The battery life…This watch was delivered to me around 5pm on Tuesday May 11th 2021. I fully charged the watch by 6:30pm (it was completely dead when I got it) after a few days of moderate usage, I’d assume nothing more than normal use I had to charge the watch Friday night, May 14th, I was at 15% and had a lot of outdoor activities planned for Saturday, and at the rate the battery was going I didn’t trust the 15% to last until Saturday night especially while using fitness tracking.During the three days after I fully charged it I only used the fitness tracking once, for 1 hour of walking, I’m someone who normally does a lot of activities outdoors like hiking and camping, I don’t want to have to worry about the charge on this during a weekend or longer camping trip, but it looks like I will.My always on display was off and the brightness was around 1/3 full, I do have all day heart and stress monitoring on but let’s be real, that’s the point of this device, lift to wake is also on and I have that on the sensitive setting because I don’t want to wait the 3 or 4 seconds for the display to wake to see the time once I raise my arm. I may have checked my SPo2 three or four times, other than that I just wore the watch, all notifications were on but I’m not super popular by any means so it’s not like my watch was constantly going off with alerts. I’m not sure what else I can do at this point to increase the battery life because I feel like turning off features to at least reach the 9 day moderate use projection would be so counter productive to having this device. I feel I may have received a lemon/defective battery, unless I’m missing something.Every Review here or on YouTube screams the battery life is so impressive, and to me that was one of the biggest selling points… well, I’m not impressed, I got 2 or 3 times longer battery life from the Amazfit Bip U I previously purchased and I used that thing ALLLLL the time when I first got it, and I didn’t need to do my first charge on that for 7 days… and the battery life only increased with the Bip U as my usage reduced. So two stars it is because for the price and the battery life being one of its best selling points I feel it’s extremely misleading.Other than that the watch is still amazing, looks and works great.Delivered: May 11th 2021,I’ve only had the T Rex Pro for a day but I absolutely love it, I’ve been waiting to make this purchase for so long and now that it’s here I’m so pumped.Build:The watch is light but feels like quality, the band feels really nice and has plenty of room for a wrist of any size, I have really small wrists and I love a chunky watch but it still doesn’t look ridiculous while wearing, I used a tempered glass screen protector so I can’t really make any comments on the watch glass itself but before I put on the screen protector it felt like it would be durable and it definitely resisted finger prints, like the daily ones lol not a greasy chicken wing finger print.Over all the build and quality of this watch is super nice. Definitely pleased with that part.Functions:I mean the stats speak for themselves, between everything the watch and app have to offer this set up will cover just about anything, that’s all I really have to say lol.User interface:Swiping around feels clean, responsive and all motions looks great, this can be customized for any preference of options to be where you want them. Prioritize the apps where you want to see them first. The buttons are a great addition to navigate the features of this Beaut especially in situations where you can’t use the touch screen. I do wish there were a bit more watch faces to choose from but I’m sure they’ll release more in the near future seeing how this Pro version has only been out since February 2021.Battery life:The only thing I’ve noticed so far that sucks the life out of this thing is the screen brightness, I lost about 15% battery in the first 5ish hours of wearing this with the auto brightness on, I turned it off and brought the brightness down to just over 1/3 and went a whole day of active use on about 5-8% battery usage. I have just about everything turned on too, but that brightness will take the charge away really quickly. So if wearing your watch shining like the northern star is your thing, (I get it I love a bright watch face) then just expect to probably charge it every 3 ish days.Things they could improve:I haven’t used this enough yet to really touch on this subject but some simple things that could be added are simple replies to text messages for one, that would be great. Some type of voice control or talk to text option would also be great, and possibly having Alexa assist like they have on some of amazfits lesser expensive models like the Bip U pro, seems weird it’s not available on the T Tex Pro.This thing is just amazing, I couldn’t be more pleased with this watch/fitness tracker. If you’re like me and have been circling this watch on here and YouTube all I have to say is just buy it, you’ll thank yourself later.

Amazfit T Rex Pro, Triathlon worthy

This watch is a beast! I agree with many of the reviews listed for this fitness watch. They were the main reason I got the watch in the first place. I have used this watch every day for the past 3.5 months to train for the Xterra Mission Bay Sprint Triathlon that just happened 10/15/2023. It has done a great job of tracking all of my training work outs whether it was HITT, yoga, running (outdoors with GPS or indoors on the treadmill), biking (same GPS quality outdoors) and swimming (GPS kicked butt). I’d highly recommend this for anyone wanting a watch that can keep up with a tough training schedule and maintain great sleep data. The EPOC measurements are pretty spot on and the Zepp app is really cool and informative. I was able to tie the watch to my Peloton workouts along with Strava and the Lose It! app for counting calories to keep me on track. This watch is pretty amazing especially for the fact that it doesn’t cost $800 🙂

Watch should of broke a long time ago

Oct ,19 2021 is when I purchased my T-Rex pro.. the watch has been incredible. It has taken some serious beatings these past couple of years. The watch has worked perfectly up until a few days ago where recently it won’t hold the charge for more than a day,and the screen fades out. Also has a hard time connecting via Bluetooth now. I’ve done a factory restore on the watch. Checked for updates within the watch and the app that it uses on my phone. I’m sad to say I think the watch is dying. So I went ahead and bought a T-Rex 2. Really this watch has been great to me and probably should have died a year ago due to the abuse it encounters on a daily basis. I’m a plumber. This watch has been in water and mud. I have accidently smacked it with tools while wearing it. so many times I have slammed this watch into something and thought to myself “well thats definitely broken” and it was unfazed. It really is impressive how tuff this thing is. I hope the T-Rex 2 is just as tuff or better. I don’t think there is a better watch for the money. Been tracking my sleep with it here lately and it has made it easier for me to correct my sleep patterns. I have years of health data to reflect on what I was doing and how I felt when I was doing it. It’s comfortable even though it’s a big watch. I where it to bed to track my sleep.i will say the band is kind of “grippy” and will grab your hair if you rub your wrist through your hair while sleeping. Otherwise I hardly take it off. The battery last forever and charges so fast it hardly even makes sense. If I’m on an excavator and I get a phone call or text im notified though my watch vibrating which is convenient because it’s hard to hear anything when on heavy equipment. If your worried about this watch not living up to the hype well I’m hear to tell you that this watch is everything it claims to be.My watch should of died a long time ago due to my unrealistic demand of this device. It really is impressive.
