Defective phone….almost one month to get a refund

I received a defective phone. It took almost one month to refund my money. Also UPS delivered 3 days after I shipped the phone back to Amazon. After I called, they changed the delivery date to later to cover the. refund delay. I have screenshots of both the true delivery date and the later one that Amazon changed.

    Motherboard was broken

Motherboard was broken per ubreakifix; therefore, couldn’t even power on, very disappointing about the quality and reliability after one-year use.

Quality doesn’t mean what it use to

I’ve had this phone 40 days exactly when I open it up to show my wife some features as she’s in the market and to my surprise there’s a loss of pixels. Interesting I thought, as amazingly I have not even dropped this phone yet. On further examination there was a small protrusion dead center the seam, which actually cracked it approximately .5 cm from behind it appears. I read several reviews about screen problems but figured I would risk it as my last 3 samsung phones were amazing. I actually kept my note 10+ as a backup which may have actually been made by Nokia because that thing is a brick. Dropped it 1 or 2… thousand times and it still works perfectly.Going to give the s23 a chance and ditch the folding screen, at least for now.

    Complete Garbage….Samsung does not answer

I’ve only had the phone for about 15 months. The internal screen no longer works (when folded open) it is blank. DO NOT BUY ANY Z FOLD PHONE!!!!

    Not that good

phone is working fine but way too bulky to carry around so wouldnt recommend.

Internal Folded Screen Protector Delaminating. Issues with T-Mobile Tower

After 8 monthsTLDR; The screen Delaminates from the Screen Protector. Gets dirt inside. Issues with T-Mobile towers getting worse. (May/may not be T-Mobile)You can always feel the crease when unfolded. If you accept that, the unfolded look is great. The finger print reader is fast, but I am big handed and so it catches my palm as an attempt to read the finger. I usually have to unlock using a pattern due to exceeding number of tries on fingerprint with my palm. The touch screen when open sees my palm as a touch on the screen, so some games for me are an issue. The touch screen when closed has much the same issue, I often have to change how I am holding the phone to use touch when closed.TMobile and 5G is spotty for me (especially 5GUC), so I usually keep it on LTE, which works very fast. (In most cases LTE is as fast as 5G, but that is the Carrier, I believe.) The phone keeps dropping the network and re-connecting. In low signal areas, holding the phone while closed also can cause data reception to slow down. I often put the phone down and pull back my hand to cause it to get the data faster. This also happened with the Note 10+, so appears to be related to my hands and T-Mobile. It also happens with an S20, so I think Samsung does not work well with T-Mobile.

The biggest leap in cell phone’s since capactive touch screens

When the fold phones released I thought that they were a gimmick and very fragile. This is my first folding phone and at least I can say it’s not a gimmick. Time will tell on durability. Having the ability to move from a much easier to hold outer screen to a tablet around the size of an ipad mini is awesome. Having moved from a pixel I appreciate that there is better care in samsung’s software for reliability. The pixel 6 pro modem and reliability is terrible. The overall experience is much better with the Fold 4.The Good:- The phone doesn’t get hot. The Pixel 6 pro gets hot watching Youtube.- The cell signal is great.- The screens are bright and colorful.- One UI is a pleasing UI (subjective obviously) and seemingly polished. The bad- I have more trouble with this fingerprint reader than the Pixel 6 Pro.- Facial recognition is unusable and should not really be offered.- Battery life is a bit disappointing, but good enough. The screen is huge so it stands to reason, but there are 2 batteries and what ought to be enough space for bigger batteries. It’s already heavier than a regular phone, so it would be nice to not compromise and have it be killer battery life.Overall, I really like the phone and would recommend it with the above caveats.

I bought the cool new toy and 5 seconds later the newer one comes out!

So i really hate shopping for a phone but broke my 5 y/o phone and needed a new one. Got the Zfold4 at a great discount. Within a week or two i start seeing ads for the Zfold5 – go figure! Battery life is far superior to my old phone and the only big issues i have so far are its size… really like two phones and the transfer process. Samsung has never let me down before w their transfer tool, but i lost a couple weeks of photos and had to re-connect (pair) ALL my Bluetooth devices. Otherwise, the novelty is still there when i need it and its a good phone too!

    Pretty cool phone

I like it, I was a really big fan of my S10 and replaced it with this. Sometimes having the big screen with a pen is really handy, and I like to play games and there’s all sort of nifty stuff you can do with Xbox controllers, a pc and the phone combined if you’re interested. Battery drains kinda fast if your on the big screen watching videos, etc. I don’t have any issues with the bend in the middle. People that say “I don’t even see it!” Are bs’ing you, you’ll notice it. If the brightness is up its not a huge deal, but if your looking at something mono-colored or just very dark, it’s pretty obvious. Still, having a phone that opens up into a tablet is pretty cool. I’m pretty tech-savvy and I still don’t know how to get the most out of the whole dual left right screen thing. Also certain apps close/reset when you unfold. So if you’re on ig watching some video and think “I wanna see this bigger” and unfold, it’s gone and you’ll probably never find where you were.

    Great phone

I read a lot of manga so this phone is perfect for when I’m on break at work. Battery life is great too. Fold screen is super soft so you have to be wary of scratches but don’t act like a troglodyte and you’ll be fine. Tried playing a few games on it and it works fine except one if them which only supported half the screen so be wary of that I guess.

  17. Bullphourg

    Concept not quite there yet.

It’s really only slightly larger then an ultra. For playing videos it won’t play any larger then on an ultra because of aspect ratio. Most apps really don’t take advantage of the form factor even as a tablet. Though the tablet form factor usage is no different then any other android tablet. It’s at it’s best a larger web browser. That I really liked. Second best thing it does fold down into a phone that’s on the smaller side making it easier to reach. This only sorta works ok. They need to slim down the phone before it is satisfying as a small form factor phone. All in all not worth the money yet. Better tablet support and a thinner phone would go a long way.

    Love the Larger Screen

I take a lot of notes during meetings at work and had considered purchasing this Fold phone for some time. Now, I’m frustrated with myself for not purchasing it sooner. It is great for notetaking and the larger screen is also perfect for watching videos.

    Better than expected

The other reviews made me wary of making a big purchase but my experience has been awesome in the last 2weeks. I bought a case, camera lens cover & stylus with the phone.Compared to my old iphone, the camera quality is great, the voice clarity is better and the battery life is more than adequate. I’m a medium user, but I have about 50% battery left at the end of the day and the charging is fast. Modern tech isn’t rugged hence the case. If I had more cash to spend, i’d definitely buy this again! 5 stars

    It’s the future

I’d highly recommend Samsung’s official s-pen/kickstand case as it lets you one hand the phone much easier (even if you don’t use the s-pen)The softer screen & crease isn’t really an issue. Setting it up and the learning curve is the hardest part. Swipe navigation and the side task bar are my biggest recommended software settings. No functional issues after a month and a half.

I Can’t Use Anything Less Now

This device is not perfect, but after using it even a short while, I can never go back. It would be great if there were more competition in this space. I’d ask for less bulk, no divot in the middle (a sharp break or crease would be preferred), and maybe a built in pen like the galaxy note.

Removed ability to add micro-SD card- Not happy

One of the reasons I do not like iPhones is because you cannot add memory. That is the one thing that I loved about android, specifically Samsung. It was my favorite. I spent a lot of money on this phone to find out that a basic standard feature was removed. You cannot add memory if you would like. I am not happy about that. I did not check to see if it was one of the features because it is normally there. I use my phones for business and like the flexibility of adding what I wish without having to constantly delete apps, pics, files, etc. I am very unhappy with this phone. I wish companies would stop changing what works. UGH!!!!!!!!!!

    Simply amazing

I wanted to write a long one but I’ll keep it short. If you are fan of larger phones this will do it for you because it’s like a galaxy note made tablet but still folding to a phone. Only drawback is no S-pen for a beast like this

I think I was scammed with this purchase…

This product came in new packaging and was working well for two weeks, then suddenly as I was using it my phone locked and gave me the following message:”This device is disabled because it was reported as lost, stolen, or has a balance due for failure to meet trade-in terms. If purchased from Samsung.com, check the email used at the time of purchase for the next steps. If you didn’t purchase this device from Samsung.com, please return this device to the place of purchase.”I contacted my bank, the payment went through. This was NOT a trade in purchase. I checked with Samsung and they said only the company I purchased this from can unlock the device.I don’t know what kind of scam this is, but I am concerned that they may want my information after I have been using this for some time. I contacted the seller and they said they would refund my device if I return it through Amazon. Or perhaps they expect not everyone will return the device and they can pocket the cash people don’t return. This has been a massive inconvenience for me.

    Would highly recommend

After reading the reviews, both positive and negative I rolled the dice, and honestly, this phone is amazing! It is not that heavy, yes the main screen is not as wide as the note, however, it is very easy to get used to. The downside is the updates take a while when you first begin. The upside, however, it is sleek, has multiple cameras, and has many new features, that will be exciting to use. For a person who is 35 plus, I would recommend the phone due to the fact that the screen is larger and there is no strain on the eyes. Pricey? Not really, considering Apple is equally priced with fewer bells and whistles. If I could give this phone a 10, I definitely would. Quite happy with the purchase.

    Amazing phone

Now that I have an S Pen and can use it like I did my Note, I’m in love with this phone and can’t believe I waited so long to buy one. The performance is awesome and the screen is superb. Photos look great on the camera. I wish the outer display was wider, but it functions fine and I can use it for most anything. The battery life isn’t amazing, but it can get me through a day if I don’t go crazy on it. I’d love to see Samsung step up the S Pen game a bit. The other display won’t use the pen, and I now have to switch pens when moving between my phone and my Tab S8. I understand that the Pro pen will fix the latter, but it’s frustrating that I can’t use the pen without opening the phone.

  37. Alex

    I guess I love it

I switched to this from a S22 Ultra and I prefer this, the Fold 4. I had a bit of buyers remorse shortly after buying this because I got it recently and then saw ads and news for the Fold 5, which might release this year. The crease on the big screen is noticeable at times (different viewing angles and lighting) but it doesn’t distort the image, and if you play a game where you swipe across the screen you’ll feel it but I expected this so it doesn’t really bother me. Most videos like Netflix don’t use the full screen due to the ratio, even after changing settings to ensure those apps are set to full screen. Youtube videos and shorts typically do use the full screen. The speakers are pretty strong and the battery life is good. The protective phone case selection was pretty good so all-in-all I’m happy with it. It’s phone when you need a phone, and a tablet when you need a tablet.

    Used item

I got this phone thinking that it’s brand new. It wasn’t the phone was pre used and was in Chinese language. I waiting 2 weeks before opening it and by then the price of the phone increased alot so even if I wanted to return it I would have had to pay extra to get the phone again. DONT BUY PHONES OR SMART WATCHES FROM AMAZON

    Shiny Junk

Do NOT waste your money. What they don’t tell is that it’ll stop working after 6 months. First the inside screen stopped detecting finger navigation but still recognized the stylus. Then, the Bluetooth stopped working. In hopes to solve this I factory reset… WRONG! It somehow made it worse. I go to the Samsung store and they refuse to troubleshoot/fix the device bc there is a scratch on the binding (see picture). The. When you call Samsung they tell you to take it up with your carrier insurance… WHY when I have a warranty. It’s a cool phone but it’s not worth the trouble especially when you won’t even get a yr out of it

    Make no assumptions

When an item is on sale 19% make no assumption that the product is complete. When the product description states “S Pen ready” don’t assume that it comes with an S Pen. When you buy a new electronic product don’t assume that it will come with a product charger.I returned the Galaxy Z fold 4 and will make sure that the product is complete the next time I purchase from amazon.

the phone does not last more than 6 months

My recommendation is that you do not buy this phone, the main screen only lasts 6 monthsI also recommend that if you are going to buy a cell phone or any electronic equipment, do it directly through the brand’s storeAmazon’s warranty is poor, only 90 days, no matter the cost, unless you buy extended warranty

So far, so good…. Update, no turning back!

I really didn’t need the phone, I work in IT and just enjoy tech, so I didn’t have any expectations when purchasing the phone, being I was satisfied with my S22 I didnt even know this phone existed. I must say after having it for a week it will be very hard to go back to the S22 Ultra , lol.Update :I’ve had the phone for a month now and in the beginning I really didn’t understand it’s full capabilities until I purged myself totally of using my Galaxy S22. Using this device open and the task bar and multi-tasking has been amazing and I’m not sure I could ever use a non folding device from this point forward! I would highly recommend trying a fold.

    Unreliable!

I had this phone for 1.5 years, brand new mint condition and it still failed. Apparently Samsung’s updates ruin the phone’s firmware/software. My Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stopped working without a resolution by repair shops. Some say it’s the flex/ribbon cable that fails after wear and tear behind the hinge. There’s a reason why this phone is no longer in stock anywhere brand new. Second hand customers, DO NOT BUY THIS USED. THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY ARE SO CHEAP. I Lost money on this. It is like buying a luxury car, it’s nice when its works but infuriating when it fails because of the price tag. Imagine buying a Mercedes, driving it off the lot, it immediately loses value. It requires hefty repairs with only a few miles on it. Insurance will only pay you what it’s worth in the market (which is trash), and not what you payed for. Welcome to my nightmare. This is the worst experience I’ve had with a smartphone. Never again!

  54. Todd Mazzotta

Lots to say – one of a kind device

Personally I switched to this from iPhone, unsure what I would think. I will leave out the differences between the two but I’m getting used to it again from the last time I had an Android in 2019.The phone itself is pretty cool. There’s some bloatware from Samsung on it and they really push the Bixby thing. So much so that if you prefer the Google assistant you need to use routines+ (a Samsung app from the galaxy store) to custom build a shortcut to get the key to do anything else. They actually prevent you from using Google in the android settings. I took one star off for the bloatware and most of the Samsung apps are not that great. In fact I would have had a better first impression if it didn’t have some of that garbage installed but I understand some people might like some of that stuff…The front screen is more narrow than most smartphones so if you came from a larger phone, this is going to take some getting used to. Its about as wide as an iphone 6. Previous iterations of this phone were even more narrow but I only find myself opening it to the large screen when I want to instead of feeling like I’m not getting the full app experience from the front screen. Look on Reddit and you will find this upset a lot of earlier fold customers. I do not find that to be a problem on the fold 4 but I will say Instagram cuts off reels on the sides unless you open it. There are ways to force a certain aspect ratio so I have hopes this can go away. I would say about 80 to 90% of the time I am texting people from the front screen and I feel comfortable doing it. The rest of the time the phone was just already open and I was doing something else but wanted to text back..It goes without saying that it’s a great convenience to have the large screen. The multitasking is second only to a tablet. It’s a really nice prospect to go on camping trips or vacations and not have to worry about bringing an extra device with me just in case I have to get some work done. I can see how people would still prefer to have a larger tablet but I’m not one of those people and I feel like the fold 4 takes care of that need for me.The flex mode is pretty cool but lots of applications either don’t support it or it’s really weird. Flex mode is when You fold the phone partially opened like a laptop opened on a table and it will only display the app on one half of the screen, the default with chrome is you get this cool touchpad thing which could be useful in some situations but I don’t find myself using it very often. The camera is great but in low light the phone produces blurry shots of anything that moves. Even my iphone 11 did a better job of this. I’ve experimented with and without night mode and I think the post image processing just isn’t up to par with Apple’s. The pro mode is really cool and you can do long exposures, night photography, and you can control things like shutterspeed and f-stop. These new phones all have larger sensors and the quality shows, minus the low light performance (which in my opinion could be improved with software).Overall I really like the phone but it definitely isn’t for everybody. It’s really thick and you are probably going to put some kind of case on it which will make it even thicker. A couple companies make some ultra thin cases but I don’t think they are out yet at the time of this writing. Durability is definitely a concern but so far so good and I haven’t noticed any quality control issues on my phone yet. you can still add Samsung’s insurance plan after purchasing if you are worried about dropping it and breaking it.Really cool phone. I think anybody that had an LG phone with a full keyboard on it in the late 2000s was called to this phone, it’s spiritual successor…

Didn’t end up using it as it was a gift for someone.

Didn’t end up using it as it was a gift for someoneb and they didn’t want a folding phone. But the box arrived and was perfect. Very well packaged and as always Amazon delivers quality. It’s genuine, not a knock off or used. Factory sealed goodness.

    Expensive headache

I’m being optimistic by giving a three star review, but so far this has been a headache.I had issues with phone calls not coming through, anyone calling me was being sent straight to vm. It was just part of the many updates this phone needed constantly over the first three days of having it.When I got the phone 6 days ago, it immediately went into a case, and I had been home recovering from an infusion so it has been lightly used. Today, the manufactured screen protector already started bubbling off down the crease on the foldable screen. Turns out it’s a common issue that Samsung doesn’t seem to want to properly address. So now, I need to bring it into a service center tomorrow to replace the screen protector, since they do it through a machine and do not recommend the ones you can put on yourself. But don’t worry – Samsung has a one year warranty for that issue! And by that I mean, they replace it for free one time within a year of buying your phone, and I have to use that up less than a week after getting my phone. Then hope this doesn’t happen every week for the rest of the time I own my brand new $1500 phone, because I will get charged $20-50 to replace it each time.Samsung’s only other two options they will give you, are to pay for their monthly insurance so you get ‘free replacement screen protectors’ when it happens, or to return your entire new phone to Amazon because to them it makes more sense that the phone itself is an issue (what, does the screen have a defect that makes protectors unable to adhere to it?), and spend another 3+ hours transferring all your info to another new phone – rather than owning up to the fault in their screen protectors many people are experiencing, fixing the issue, and actually helping their customers. If you want to gamble your experience with this phone, good luck. It looks nice and would be wonderful if it wasn’t such a headache and Samsung actually cared about their consumers.

    Excellent double-screen size, good battery

The phone works fantastic good. The front screen is easy to use without requiring flipping open the phone. When opened the larger keyboard, larger screen and multi-app function makes this phone very powerful. The battery life is better than expected and for me easily lasts all day. I don’t always open the phone unless I need to type a longer message. I don’t play games on it. I don’t often watch movies. The crease in the middle of the phone is visible but is not distracting or bothersome. The pixels are smooth and my eyes quickly adjust. The fingerprint reader feels weak especially when there is a case as it is difficult to get my finger on the right angle and position. The facial recognition is less reliable for me.Yes, a little chunky but the height and width easily fit comfortably in my pocket. The cameras work well enough for my use.Overall very satisfied with the phone and performance.

    Great phone until

You will love this phone in every way until it breaks. It lasted a little over a year and now it won’t operate with it unfolded. If I unfold the phone, the screen displays for half a second and shuts down the phone.Search the internet for fold 4 black screen.

    Love this phone

I had been looking at the fold Z flip and the vertical Z flip for about a year or 2 and finally I made a decision to buy it and I do not regret it and I love everything about it it takes getting used to when you open it up to the phablet part of it but it is definitely worth every bit of the money make sure you get a protection plan and it’s a go.

Over $1600 phone and no wall charger?

The $1600 price of the phone, Samsung should include two chargers and a protecting case. I spend over 30 minutes, removing Samsung’s bloadware. Some of the bloadware can not be removed! (what ever happend to allowing the customer do what they want with the property?) For new buyers, an option, I have not tried, was to restore phone to factory defaults, before adding your apps and SIM card. Not sure if that will rid of said bloadware. I like the screen size and for sure it is good hardware.
