  1. Rivian

Best of the single serve POD systems

What I like: Cute, small size. Heats quickly. Makes a consistent, good expresso. Many choices of pods from various manufacturers. Reasonably priced pods. What I don’t like: really is just an expresso maker. Not good if you want a brew coffee. Without a mild frother, other expresso based products such as cappuccino, etc needs additional equipment.Overall, I’ve tested basically all the pod based systems. The Krups based, Illy based, and Starbucks based…they all brings something a bit different to the table. But, if expresso is your thing, without a doubt, the Nespresso Classic pods are the way to go. They make the most consistently good expresso. The Krups or K cup….good for tea, not much else. The Illy is more expensive and limited. And frankly doesn’t taste as good. I also tested the Breville Barista Express. The Breville makes the best expresso without a doubt. It also have a mild frother to make cappuccinos. But the Breville takes longer to make the expresso. You have to dial in the grind fineness, the amount of grind, and tamp it correctly. Not hard to do. But if you don’t get it right, your expresso is off. The Breville is by far my favorite machine, but if I want something quick, the Delonghi nespresso is great. If you want a good tasting cup of coffee…not expresso…none of these machine does well. A cheap $20 coffee brewer makes better brew coffee than any of these machines.

    Great little Nespresso machine!

I have the larger Nespresso Pixie machine and I love it. I bought this smaller one to use at work, and it does not disappoint. It makes great coffee from the Nespresso pods and the avocado green colour is amazing. Lastly, this one was purchased for a little over $100 which makes it an amazing deal. Recommended

    Fantastic!

I wasn’t familiar with nespresso machines until seeing my brother’s during a recent visit. I decided to get one and chose this one based upon the small footprint, affordable price, good reviews, and use of the smaller original capsules. I am loving it. It heats up quickly, can make cup after cup with virtually no wait time between servings, and is super simple to operate. It produces a very pleasing rich crema and is easy to clean an maintain. Couldn’t be happier with it!

    Great taste

Small and cute on our coffee bar. Smells so good and makes nice espresso.

    Addicted

I bought this for my boyfriend’s birthday a few months ago and we are absolutely obsessed. The machine works perfectly, is very easy to use, and we haven’t had any problems with it in the 6 months we’ve had it so far. The espresso comes out foamy and delicious. The only problem is we are basically addicted and it’s an expensive habit (especially since the Nespresso pods are the best we’ve tried). Just a heads up, it’s cheaper to buy the Nespresso pods from the Nespresso website (vs on Amazon) and they throw in a gift on orders of 100 pods. If you’re thinking about going in on this… remember to consider the yearly cost of buying pods. I’d say it’s worth it (but I’m also in too deep)EDIT in 2020: it still works a year and a half later, but definitely not as well as when it was brand new — it makes a weird loud noise now when running and the water comes through A LOT slower (maybe the pressure is off). The espresso is still good, though, so I can’t complain too much.

    My Nespresso essential.

This machine is a very simple and precise set of espresso maker, noise is lower than standard types, coffee brewed with exact flavour as I used to. Love it, recommend it!

Good machine – GREAT customer service

I got this little machine back in February of 2020, and it worked wonderfully for several months. Then we moved to the mountains near 10,000 feet elevation, and it got weird. It would “stutter” and only partially work, and we did everything possible to fix it. Ended up contacting Nespresso customer service, and they went above and beyond. Seriously above and beyond. They sent us not one, but two replacement machines. Neither one really fixed the problem, so both Nespresso and I decided the elevation was the problem and sending more machines would not fix the problem. My partner (who has ~5 espresso a day because he’s a madman) and I dealt with it and still had our sad espressos, but at least they were still espresso and we didn’t have to drive 20 minutes off our mountain to the nearest coffee shop to get one. Anyway, we moved back to low elevation six months later, and our machine is back to normal, making 5-8 espresso shots a day like a champ. So if you live at high elevation, this may not be the machine for you, but it will try its very best. And the company will, too. Seriously, you don’t get that sort of service anymore. Thank you, Nespresso. My boyfriend would be lost without you.

  9. Amazon Customer

Cheaply made but delivers a good Americano

I almost sent this back. It looks cheap and is made cheap and a normal mug doesn’t fit without removing the drip tray. BUT the little thing blends a nice cup of expresso as well as Americanos. It’s tiny but delivers. The coffee is hot with a nice foam and doesn’t need to be put in the microwave like my Verissmo. The directions don’t tell you this but you can go to YouTube and watch a video to program your regular size coffee. That helped a lot.I would say it’s an expensive piece of plastic but I do like the coffee. The Nespresso pods offer some dark expresso choices that are as good, if not better, than Starbucks. It’s a keeper.

    Still the best espresso

Comparing to my previous machine (Le Cube), in my opinion, Essenza is better in almost all parameter. The low price and great quality worth the money spent on it. Due to its small size, it can fit anywhere in the kitchen. Less noisy than previous machine I had. The coffee is great in Essenza as it is in all Nespresso machines. The only down point is the fact that the lever is too hard to pull. Since the machine is light weight, it jolts when lifting the lever and spill some water from the reservoir.

The coffee machine of my dreams!

I have been looking for this machine my whole life. I have bought so many coffee machines and never got the result I wanted, and recently started buying $5 lattes again every morning because regular coffee doesn’t seem to wake me up. Tired of having to drive somewhere to get my morning coffee, I decided to take the money that 22 lattes would cost and buy thius machine. I am so Happy! There could not be an easier to handle and clean a machine, you get lots of different coffee choices, and it makes a cup in less than a minute! The coffee is thick and creamy, I feel like I’m in a European coffee shop every morning!

  12. Bryan

    Almost too easy to use…..

LOVE the ease of use of this machine!! Just pop in a pod and make some great coffee!! The only downside is the pods you use, as I have found some don’t produce much, or don’t work well with the high pressure. They are (usually) the lesser expensive ones (i.e. grocery store “brands”), but, even the pods available through Nespresso aren’t expensive (average about .75 cents per pod). The machine takes up little space on the counter and the bright green color gives a nice splash to an otherwise dim corner. 🙂

  13. Matt Clary

    Love this machine!

And love it so much that I bought a 2nd for work. My only issue is that it loves dripping a lot. You look at this thing sideways and it’s dripping. I refer to it as Mr Drippy. “You want a coffee from Mr Drippy while I’m making one?” Keep the drip tray close by along with some towels or set the while thing on a bar mat.

    Categorize it into “Productivity”

Really love this compact Nespresso machine! It fits into my office bookshelf.I was thinking about buying a regular drip coffee machine, but then it turned into buying coffee+coffee grinder + filter+coffee maker, and always need to clean the basket And you can only get brewed coffee. But now, press the button, you can have a cup of espresso in a minute. No need to clean it very often, and can make all kinds of coffee based on espresso. 14 coffee capsules came along with the Nespresso, $10 off coupon for capsule purchase, great capsule deals online.Better tastes/lower average price than the Cafe downstairs.

    A little toy for fun

I thought I will not buy De‘Longhi any more since I had a leaked De’Longhi espresso machine a couple of year’s ago. Then I thought to give a try because I do like the size of this little Nespresso machine. It is powerful and very easy to use and much better than my previous complicated traditional one. I didn’t clean it yet because only used for a couple of weeks.

so far so good. Got tired of buying a new espresso machine …

so far so good. Got tired of buying a new espresso machine every couple years due to bunged up gaskets-did try and fix them myself, but it was tricky and a super hassle. Curious to see what the long term weakness is for these-I make several espressos a day. Makes a fine shot if you have a good grind/coffee. Since there are FINALLY compostable pods on the market I figured I’d give it try-and it’s nice and so far has not died. Cap Mundo are good compostable pods, and amazon has the reusable ones as well. I use compostable pods and reusable pods with it no problem, good espresso shots.

    Espresso Heaven

We bought this machine to help fulfill my addiction to espresso at Starbucks. $5 or more a pop at a Starbucks versus about $1 using this machine is a no brained. So far had no bad capsules, and it heated up fairly well. Won’t get quite the exact result as using a more expensive espresso machine but for the convenience and quality you can’t go wrong. Would buy again.

    Coffee Time just got BETTER!!!

After years of wishing for my own Nespresso machine, I finally gifted myself one! I absolutely LOVE it. It’s conveniently small, looks very stylish, and the lime green adds a fresh pop of color to my kitchen. It’s not at all noisy & the auto power off is a welcome feature. I highly recommend this machine for those who’d like a wonderful cup of coffee without breaking the bank!Oh! And my little gift box of 14 capsules arrived safely, as well!

  19. FIGARO

    We love it!

We bought this to replace our first machine which came from Nespresso. It had ‘died’ (or rather, I killed it).The unit is a pleasing, soft lime green with a tapered housing. Moving and operational parts are black. My husband says the coffee tastes better with this machine. I like the soft, rising growl it makes as the coffee comes out of the spigot.

    I love my essenza mini

I’ve had this for a few months and have had 0 problems with this machine. I love the lime green color and that it was on deep discount. The only downsides are that nespresso pods are way better than all the alternative brand pods, and those can get kind of pricey if you drink a lot of nespresso, but I still prefer it to a fussy DIY espresso set up (or a very expensive superautomatic juria machine). The drip tray does get kind of gnarly quickly, but it’s easy to clean.

    Great espresso at home

It’s easy to use, it’s small, it’s delicious. You can manually change the amount of water it dispenses, but it has both the espresso and lungo options already programmed. The water reservoir isn’t huge, but I’m okay with refilling every couple of days. Very pleased with this product, especially at the price.

    Best purchase ever

This is the best machine I’ve ever bought. I use it multiple times a day, every day. The espresso is perfect every time and it’s made in seconds. I made my brother buy one and he was so happy he bought one for his office too because keurig didn’t cut it anymore for him.

  23. Barbara Lithander

A match made in coffee heaven

Received this today and wasted no time in using it. So easy to use! I tired of my Keurig because I love coffee, and it just doesn’t make that perfect cup. Ny new Nespresso Essenza mini does just that. It’s also very small, and just plain easier to use. I am in love with it! Highly recommend for everyone who LOVES a great cup of coffee.

    Growing our Nespresso Family

Between the whole fam, I think we own 5 machines. No complaints and this one works great, too. We buy our pods at Trader Joe’s or Target as they are the lowest cost, easiest to obtain pods we could find that still make a great espresso or Americano. I took mine to work and the whole team loves it.

  25. sara k

    Really user-friendly, makes great coffee

This has saved me so much money! Now I can make my own lattes at home. There’s even a $10 off coupon in the box you can use on the Nescafe website for coffee orders. It is extremely easy to use, brews really quickly, and is well worth the money. I don’t think I could live without this thing now

  26. Geovanna T.

    Best little espresso maker

I love this product! It is worth every penny. Quick and easy clean up. Compact and cute. As someone concerned about the unnecessary waste of pods, I purchased a stainless steel reusable capsule that is compatible with the machine and ta-da! No guilt! I’m going to buy a second one for my work office, this time with the accompanying frother (it’s a must-have combo!). Good luck with yours.

    PERFECT FOR TRAVEL

We have the large, professional De’Longhi Nespresso machine. It is simply amazing. But, we travel by car often in our 5 state area. This De’Longhi Essenza Mini packs easily and delivers the same high quality espresso while we are oh the road. A great, reliable product.

  29. Arielle Jordan

    I love it.

I love this little machine. It’s Simple and quick, easy to clean. My only complaint would be that the espresso doesn’t get THAT hot. Hot enough for me but not all.

  30. Joseph m truscello

Best purchase I’ve ever made on an appliance. Outstanding

The inventor and designer should get the Nobel prize…. this is the best $119 I’ve ever spent in my life. It’s so good that if it lasts only a year, I’ll gladly buy one once a year. Buying everyone in my family one

  31. SherzMH

    So light that it travels

A portable espresso machine! Keep the box and tuck it into the car for weekend trips. Love the size and simplicity of this machine. No longer set foot in a Starbucks. I microwave water in the cup before making the espresso to retain the heat. Perfect with an economical Bodum frother. UPDATE: 15 months later, still in love with the green machine I discovered in Europe. No problems, great lattes!

  32. Victoria

Best home espresso maker for small quantities

I love this little espresso machine. I spent a long time agonizing over what to get, and I’m so glad I went with this simple machine. It’s so easy to operate and keep clean, and it’s the right size for our 2-3 cup of coffee per day household. I also spent a long time agonizing over getting a capsule machine at all because of the waste in packaging. However, I learned that Nespresso recycles the capsules (and provides free postage-provided recycle bags), so I decided it wasn’t too environmentally irresponsible.

Great coffee, wish it were hotter.

As per the title. The espresso is great, but I wish it came out a tad hotter. Does take away from how delicious the magic bean water is, though!

    Authentic espresso without the fuss

Having had a large espresso machine that was labor intensive and took up too much space, when the time came to replace it, I took a chance on the Nespresso Essenza Mini and am glad I did. This tiny machine with no bells and whistles produces superb espresso from any variety of Nespresso capsules. For my purposes which does not include serving for a crowd, the average $.70 per pod is doable and far less than buying coffee on the run.

I love my nespresso coffee but this particular machine leaks water …

I love my nespresso coffee but this particular machine leaks water a bit into the trays when it isn’t in use. Just have to be mindful to dump the tray often. Sometimes it will just start leaking like crazy out of nowhere (like an ounce at a time). Not a huge bother and not enough to return it but wouldn’t buy this exact model again.

  36. Jason

    Nice compact espresso pod machine

Always wanted a machine and green one was on sale. I jumped on the deal. I’ve owned it for a few months now, I love it and use every day. Its easy to operate. It warms water pretty fast and makes nice espresso shots for the mornings you’re in a hurry. Nespresso pods are recyclable when you retrieve a ups bag from their shop. I recommend the machine. But take in account the nesspresso pods are pricey at .70 a pod and their shipping isnt free.

  37. jassyjas

    Great!

Bought this for the hubs for an anniversary present and he loves it. It works really well and it’s super easy to use. Nespresso makes an amazing cup of espresso, my Sicilian ancestors would approve of this one for sure. The plastic containers are also biodegradable, which was a huge selling point for me. I would definitely recommend this little maker.

  38. Michele Spiegelhoff

    Best little espresso maker!

I just received this Nespresso Essenza mini and I tried it out in only minutes. It is so cute and takes up little room on the counter. It is well made and heats up in seconds. I cannot wait to try out all of the different capsules. On the manufacturers info under contents of box it said you get 16 capsules. There are only 14.

  39. K Chan

Fast brewing and love the espresso and cappuccino

The compact size fit kitchen counter of my overload appliances. Fast brewing and love the espresso and cappuccino, (yes I have the milk frother). Not getting to five stars due to the loose part on the cup holder, and sure the pricy nespresso capsules. I have not yet tried the third party pods due to the mix comments on warranty.

Good espresso maker for compact size.

Not quite the same quality as larger Nespresso machines, but makes a good cup and I like compact size. The water reservoir and bucket for dispensing used capsules are cheap plastic. My machine is the lime green. Very cute.

  41. Caycee

Finally a tiny high quality espresso machine!

This brand is totally worth it when it comes to quality of coffee. I live in a 400sqft space and never imagined I could have an espresso machine but it truly takes up minimal space and I can have a choice of 3 different sizes of espresso in under a minute. Plus it came with a 16 pof sample pack and a $10 coupon to order more pods.

  42. E.P.

    Cute, convenient, small…works great!

So far, 5 stars! It worked right out of the box and is easy to use and compact, exactly what I wanted. Came with free samples and a $10 off coupon. After ordering 2 separate Mueller machines that wouldn’t even run water through, this is refreshing. Mueller, made in China…these are made in Ukraine. Get one!!

    espresso machine

overall, I am pleased; however, the calibration is off …the 4 oz measurement brews just a little over the 4 oz mark causing an overflow.

  44. B. Alter

    Great machine for the price.

This machine, which was the least expensive model, is the easiest and cleanest way to make decent espresso and Americanos. The capsules themselves are recyclable, and the company provides a free mailer for this purpose.I have many ways to make coffee, but this is the one I use most frequently. This is especially true for making decaf later in the day.

  45. swimmerdude

    😊

I erased my initial review as I felt I rushed to judgment. I’m really enjoying this machine. It is ready to use seconds after you turn it on. It really is quick to begin using. I use distilled water to keep it clean. It’s very easy to operate and the sleek design of the machine is convenient for my galley style kitchen.

  46. Rika

    Awesome powerful little machine

We got introduced to this little machine while vacationing in St Marteen. We loved it. After missing our daily espressos, which was never a thing before, we went ahead and bought one. It is super easy to use and clean. It froths the espressos beautifully. You can even program the cup size if you like. Definitely worth the money.

  47. Enrique

    Conveniently Practical

This product is quick and easy to use. You do have to rinse it every 3-4 days after daily use, but rinsing lasts no more than one minute. With regards to the sound, it is not loud but if it is in your bedroom it could possibly wake up a very light sleeper. Still, having a shot of espresso or short coffee in less than one minute is a total plus worth the $120.

Hes the cutest espresso machine evvverrr 😍

I got a refurbishEd half empty box I bought the last one at $80..)…everything was taken out of it except for the machine itself and I still couldn’t be happier! This thing is insanely small, half the size of my corporate Kerig! I named him pistachio. The green is beautiful and I’m in love 😍

Nespresso Machines DO NOT Make Espresso

So this is the second Nespresso machine I’ve purchased in four years. My first, the Essenza model, never made a good cup of espresso. Don’t know if it was the pods or the machine itself but at best, it produced a weak, somewhat hot, cup of “espresso flavored” water that could never pass for real espresso. Very disappointing. Now, four years later, I was very hopeful that Nespresso had used that time to improve their machines and offer a model that produces genuine, full bodied, rich espresso. NO SUCH LUCK! This machine, while cuter than my first, fails miserably and is incapace of producing a cup of espresso. Blame it on the same old pods or the new machine, in either case, I am giving up on Nespresso. Their machines DO NOT MAKE ESPRESSO!!!Packing it up and shipping it back.

The starter kit includes only 14 Capsules

The machine is good so far. The only complaint is that the product description says that “Starter Kit of 16 Nespresso Capsules.” is included. In reality it has 14 capsules.

  51. S

    Tiny but powerful machine

It’s quite small, smaller than my Mr. Coffee drip coffee machine. It takes a small corner of my kitchen. It’s very easy to use. Press any button to turn on and preheat. Then press the espresso / lungo (which makes a larger cup) button to make the coffee. It’ll turn off automatically after 9 minutes.* Noise-wiseThe machine does make a noise when it makes the coffee, but I won’t say it’s too loud or noisy. I find it noisier in the cleaning cycle (running through water without pods), which concerned me initially.* DesignI heard it’s different from the Breville model only from the design. There may be better deals at BB for the Breville model. But I just like the design of this model (the Breville model looks more flat and bland?). Also, Delonghi is an old and prestigious brand.* TasteI used a Breville espresso machine in the office (before the pandemic). I would say espresso made by Nespresso machine can’t be a perfect replacement for espresso made by an espresso machine. It’s slightly blander, but I wouldn’t bother the difference. I’m not going to pay for a $500+ espresso machine at home anyway..I’m mixing espresso with warm milk for now, which tastes fine. But it doesn’t taste as good as a latte for sure. So I’m planning to get a milk frother (although I thought I could do with mixing with warm milk without frothing it).

    nice looking and works great

My previous Nespresso machine never really worked. And then I packed away for a huge move to another state. Was packed for a year or more. Pulled it out to use in the new home, and still not working. So found this one on sale. It’s smaller than the previous one, very cute, and super easy to use. Two buttons only. Add water, push the button I need (espresso or Lungo) and then add my foamed milk. Now it’s part of my morning routine sitting out in the back by the pool. If you want a Nespresso machine and don’t have a ton of room, I recommend this one. It’s made by Delonghi which makes good products.

If you’re on the fence…get it!!

This little gem has changed our mornings completely. It’s the little pleasures we allow ourselves to have in life that change your mindset and outlook on the rest of the day. It’s is a game changer! There are days that require a “kick in the teeth” to get going. These little pods will have you alert, and ready to take on whatever your day holds. Sure a big mug of coffee can do the job, but who has time for that? We enjoy our espresso shots and don’t know how we managed without it. The only complaint I have is the design of the cartridge that captures the used pods. It has a handle but it can be tricky to open without using a knife, spoon, etc. That alone isn’t enough to deter me from this awesome piece of caffeine technology. It’s super user friendly and makes a perfect, balanced blast of espresso. Get it, make your life immediately more enjoyable before you set out for the day!

    Best. Thing. Ever.

Love it! With a special needs 5 year old and a 3 month old that just can’t seem to sync up their sleeping schedules I was in desperate need of extra caffeine on hand. My love for frozen coffee had to be put out of my mind since it was impossible to run into Wawa and order one without having to set up the double stroller for the kiddos. This has saved my sanity! I bought the chocolate and creme de menthe syrups that they use for my favorite Mocha Mint and can make my own at home now. I keep a container of espresso in the fridge at all times. So easy to use and such a small spot taken on the counter. Definitely worth the money- in less than 2 months I have already started saving on what I would have normally spent going to buy the frozen coffees pre 2nd kid. If you’re debating because of cost- you can buy cheaper pods than the nespresso brand, they may or may not be as good straight, but if you blend it like me you can’t tell any difference. It will definitely save you money in the long run if you’re someone that goes out to buy espresso drinks regularly. Don’t know how I lived without it!

    My little green machine

Seems like a good little machine. Very lightweight and pretty portable. The weird green color grew on me after a while. (It was the cheapest option when I bought it) i recommend people buy it with the steamer frother as you really need to add warm milk to the machine and it’s a much better deal when bought together. Note this and all the OL machines are a bit noisy when you use them (more then the VL machines) your not sneaking off and making a cup without someone noticing first thing in the morning 😉 also this produces a small shot of espresso you can double brew on a lot of them to make it more like coffee but you need to realize how much your getting buying an OL machine, that’s all 🙂

    Decent product

This is my spare, and 4th Nespresso machine purchase so I have plenty of cross-comparison experience. The biggest issue I had was with the water container. The clear plastic water housing is slightly lower than the notch on the back of the machine, so it does not stay secured. I solve the problem by taping on 3 layers of black duck tape cut out in the circle shape, so that it would raise the water container above slightly and the holding clip would fit tightly against the notch. I guess the engineer miscalculated the thermal shrinkage of the polycarbonate clear plastic container. Otherwise, it works fine so far after 6 months of use. The heating up time is reasonable (quick) and pressure seems to be good to force the drip coffee down quick. Happy overall.

    Game changer for new parents

I had a baby 2 months ago and I seriously underestimated what it’s like to continuously have no sleep. I ordered this coffee maker Monday and got it late Tuesday afternoon. I’ve already used it 4 times and it’s Wednesday morning at 4 am. It’s AMAZING, very easy to use, makes a coffee very quickly (quicker than my bottle warmer), small/compacted, and tastes great. It’s one of the few easy things I have going on in my life right now with an infant, returning to work after only 6 wks, and my daycare getting shut down because of covid. My only minor complaint: water reservoir requires refill fairly often (I also make americano style coffee and push the big button twice, so I’m using more than normal espresso would)

Great little Nespresso machine with a very small footprint

I’ve had a larger KitchenAid Nespresso machine for a few years and have gotten quite accustomed to my Nespresso every morning, so when we went on vacation for a week I needed a smaller, lighter, “travel” version, and this one fit the bill! I was surprised at how small a foot print it has, and yet, it makes quite a few espressos before you have to refill it. It’s also easy to clean, remove pods, and refill. If you have never had Nespresso you are missing out, and will never want Starbucks again! Also the pods are recyclable – through Nespresso. They will send you free postage paid bags to fill and send to them and they will compost the coffee and recycle the aluminum.
