Where are all the stacks?
I’ve been using my Paper Pro for a bit over a week now for my note taking at work. Historically I’ve had one file folder for each account I manage at my work, and a giant stack of file folders filled with notes, scraps, and ideas for each of my accounts. Suddenly and surprisingly, my physical stacks and notebooks have disappeared, all now contained within this sleek new device, leading my wife to walk into my office the other day and wonder “Where are all of the stacks”?In my nearly three decades of working with numerous technologies, I now have three devices that I can’t live without: my phone, my laptop, and now my Paper Pro. Even my wife agrees: it truly is remarkable!

Sleek, Minimalistic, Elegant Writing Experience
I enjoyed writing, and it really felt realistic. As I journal quite often, this is much easier than carrying around multiple journals of what I’ve written in the past and refer back to those. Now everything is stored in one place. I enjoy the multitude of templates that I can choose from, along with the ability to use this device offline.

Intuitive and Sleek
I was thoroughly impressed by how intuitive, easy and smooth the setup and learning curve is for this device. From opening it up to using it took less than a minute. I didn’t even need the short walkthroughs because everything just made sense.Quality of the device, marker and even the book folio were all top notch. From a design and usability perspective they totally nailed it.

Absolutely fantastic. The writing experience, the organization tools and the laser focus state you get is unmatched.I’m a heavy user (handwritten notes, as a business exec)

Paper Replacement and Convert to Text are Game Changers
Slick, well designed and invaluable when marking up pdfs and using when outside and taking notes – there is no glare, you don’t have to worry about paper shifting around, etc. It’s expensive but it’ll pay off in more ways than one.

Perfect for travel and meeting notes
Originally I got the reMarkable Paper Pro to take quick notes during calls and reduce the amount of sticky notes I have spread around my desk. At first it helped me become more organized and have a clean desk, but then I found more uses for it. I brought the Paper Pro to a work conference and expo recently. reMarkable made notes significantly easier when on my feet networking at events and while walking along the trade show halls talking to customers at different booths. Overall I fully recommend using the Paper Pro. It was super easy to send notes to my work computer and even convert them into text for a quick copy + paste into meeting reports. The pen is pretty cool too. I’ve used a Microsoft surface in the past and hated using the pen to take hand written notes. It felt weird and when my hand rested on the tablet, it would throw the notes off. With the Paper Pro, it actually feels like writing on paper, which was a real nice change up compared to the tablets I’ve used previously. Being able to use different colors and the highlighter was an added bonus. All in all, the Paper Pro is an excellent tool with the perfect blend of technology and simplicity.

reMarkable continues to innovate
I previously used the Remarkable 2, so I was a bit hesitant about the price and larger size of the Pro. It is definitely bigger and on the more expensive side, but if you liked the Remarkable 2, you’ll love this device. It offers more capabilities, increased storage, and a noticeably faster response time. Both the fabric and leather covers are high quality, adding a nice premium touch. There is some screen flickering due to the e-ink display, but that’s expected with this technology. Overall, it’s a fantastic upgrade.

Screen broke first day
Nothing even touched the screen. Barely got it out of the box, set it down on the counter to grab the pen and I come back and the screen has these lines through it. I’ve tried everything to fix it but it’s screws. What a waist. I’ll update my review if I’m sent a replacement. I shouldn’t have to deal with the hassle of returning an item that is clearly screwed before having a replacement sent. I was so excited for this.

Decepcionante

Very nice!
Like the color version with the different highlighter and pen colors. Found a pdf version of the Bible and can add notes to the pages of the chapter I’m studying. That note page is the next page which is nice so you don’t have to go out of the book to find your notes!! I have the other remarkable also, but like the color version better.

Only reads pdfs
It only reads pdfs. Annoying but not a deal breaker. The writing function is a little buggy. Some parts of the screen doesn’t write correctly. If this is the primary function you are looking for I would look elsewhere. Has a nice backlight don’t need reading light but you can use one anyway to save battery.

Large view, precise writing experience
Overall I really like this eReader but it’s very expensive considering the competition. I needed something I could upload thousands of PDFs to and to take notes. Battery life is outstanding. It does not run on Android so there is no simple way to transfer files to it, you must use their software which is somewhat limited. Also the max PDF size is 100MB so you will need to compress PDF files larger than that to save on the device. I really like the cloud sync! I can view and transfer notes and files from the eReader to my desktops. Overall it’s a great eReader!

They just keep making it better!!
I am extremely excited and pleased with the reMarkable paper Pro. I already own the reMarkable 2 and really enjoyed using it to keep my daily tasks and client notes together, but the two features I found lacking was ease of transferring documents and exporting my documents to my team with edits that included colored mark-ups. The highlighter feature while useful to myself on the rM 2, because you get varying levels of grey on the tablet. But when sent to my team transferred to surprisingly bright highlighted marks in the PDF export process. With this rM Paper Pro I’m able to see the marks live and can pivot to different color options within the unique color display – this may seem trivial, but it feels like I’m making a difference in how I’m planning communication with my team withing our client notes. Another improvement is the way the pen is stored, and pen tips are handled. The pen is now snuggled inside the folio fastener, whereas the rM 2 was simply magnetically attached. I was constantly picking up my pen, losing it in my work backpack, breaking tips, etc. This was a major adjustment! The marker tips are hardier on the new pen and are quick to change with the new nifty tips box that came in this order. This thing is seriously cool, you just lightly push the tip of your pen into the box and a replacement tip is quickly inserted. I have always been a fan of reMarkable, the no distraction’s part, helps me move through tasks. The Paper Pro just made it even better. Hopefully, my review helps you weigh the decision if you’re debating between the two versions

Area of screen non functional, very annoying.
There must be a manufacturing defects to my device. There is an area where the capacitive or resistive screen is not responsive.I have been unable to reach remarkable and Amazon offers no replacement method. Included a picture that shows the word “Nothing” 3 times where the bottom one is completely distorted.Still waiting to hear from seller. Quality control needs to be better for the amount of money spent on this item.

Mixed feelings
This is the first e-paper tablet that I’ve owned besides a Kindle. I have always used a paper notebook and pen to keep notes for work and other projects but decided to try moving to an electronic notebook to make my notes easier to find.My first impression was really positive. The reMarkable is very easy to set up and it pretty much holds your hand until the setup is finished. It is a really polished product. It took some time to get used to how slow the screen is. I’ve used an iPad for years with instant display refreshes. The e-paper has a lot of lag comparatively. It’s not bad once I got used to it but it is certainly noticeable.I put it to use almost immediately, taking notes for a work project. It feels very comfortable and is very close to writing on paper. Searching my notes is very easy and the handwriting to typed text conversion worked great. I have very bad handwriting so I was pleased at the conversion accuracy.I used it for some doodling, too. Again, it works great and I enjoyed just drawing whatever came to mind. When I started using colors is when I started having second thoughts. The colors are slow to appear and are very muted. They look very different than the advertisements. I think that I would have been more satisfied with just a plain black and white notebook, especially given the difference in cost.I like reMarkable and what they have created but the color version isn’t ready for primetime, in my opinion. It works really well as a black and white notebook, though.

Almost there, just need a few tweaks.
The reMarkable Paper Pro is a decent device. When it first came out, I was interested in the original reMarkable tablet because I thought it was cool and innovative. After using it, I felt drawn to something beyond just a notebook for taking notes. However, the price point is steep for such a simple device. Some design choices they made also puzzle me, such as using a Linux-based OS instead of Android. With Linux, there are significant limitations regarding app integration. For example, you can’t use Scrivener on the tablet, which can be discouraging for those wanting to use it for scriptwriting or book writing. If it were Android-based, this wouldn’t be an issue, but unfortunately, the stripped-down Linux OS doesn’t support it. The device has an ARM-based CPU, and with the weight of the Linux OS, it struggles with larger PDFs that have many pages or graphics. For this reason, it’s difficult to recommend as a PDF-only device.Despite these limitations, it’s very easy to use. The pen is highly responsive, and the eraser works seamlessly. Somehow, they managed to make it feel like writing on paper, which is a significant advantage over other devices where the pen feels like it’s gliding on glass without any grip or sensory feedback. This is not an issue with the Paper Pro, and I really enjoy that. If reMarkable could find a way to lower the price, this product would be perfect for college students or anyone who does a lot of writing. I’ve been able to get about a week and a half of battery life, which is impressive. Overall, it’s a solid device, but the price makes it hard to justify.

A little buggy and fragile
The concept of this device is great. It sure beats using a small whiteboard. I like the fact that I can save my notes and upload them to my computer. There are times where it is not as responsive, perhaps maybe a future firmware update will correct that. Also, the screen seems very fragile. I noticed a small crack where my hand rests while I write. The device literally just sits on my desk and hasn’t been dropped. This might be due to the design of the device as it is used for writing and is not a traditional tablet. For the price of it though, you would think they would use a stronger material.

Early review but love it
The first time I got an e-reader I started wondering why there aren’t tablets that use e-ink. At the time I was reading a lot of mangas and that just seemed like it would be ideal.Fast forward what feels like a billion years later and this beauty came across my feed and I had to try it.Here’s some early thoughts (I may edit this review later as I use it more):If you see the word tablet and automatically think iPad, Fire, Galaxy, etc check your expectations. You won’t find a Procreate app here. No games. No fancy word processors. Etc.What you will find is the closest experience I’ve found to drawing and writing on paper but using a screen.I do feel like using the color eInk while drawing on it is kind of gimmicky. I’ve added a quick tree doodle I did. It was primarily in black but I added touches of red and green. They looked more muted and blended on the reMarkable screen so I was surprised when I exported it to see ho bright they were. Personally I’ll just do black doodles and export to color them on my iPad.I did some writing on it and it did translate it to text pretty well. I think even my sloppiest text converted pretty well. I want to do some more serious writing on it because it’s less distracting than when I am on the iPad. I feel like it is easier on my eyes (astigmatism + reading glasses + migraines). That said, I feel like for me personally, I feel like you NEED a keyboard for this tablet I want to do some writing on it and handwriting it and having it convert the text is hard for serious writing. The downside is it is a proprietary keyboard case. And it’s over $200. That’s a pretty spendy keyboard. I’m going to be saving credit card rewards for it.It is use to use this tablet, right out of the box, without reading the manual (mostly). Easy to set up wifi. Easy to set up their cloud drive if you want to use it.If you can only afford one tablet and need a full service tablet, this obviously isn’t going to be for you. If you only need to what will essentially be a digital notebook, journal, day planner type of thing – writing, drawing, taking notes, etc? This could be a really good option for you. The battery life is far superior to my iPad. It’s a dream to read and write and draw on.The pen attaches magentically and the closure on the cover holds it in place pretty well. Only downside is I got the folio (not the leather version) and it does like to hold onto hair. Easy to clean, just worth noting.

A great bundle for getting started and a comparison to the Kindle Scribe
So this review is a combination of a review for the reMarkable Paper Pro as well as a quick comparison to the Kindle Scribe as I now have both.*** For the reMarkable Paper Pro:First of all, I love the packaging of the bundle. Everything is packaged well in sturdy packaging that reminds me of the packaging that Apple used to do. Everything feels “quality” and it is a pleasure to unpack. The bundle I received included the reMarkable Paper Pro, a leather cover, and a pencil with extra nibs. The reMarkable Paper Pro was already partially charged and so I could do the setup quick and easily. You do need a smartphone or PC to create a reMarkable account. The overall setup process was pretty straightforward. The reMarkable magnetizes to the leather cover, so it does stay in place nicely. I might be worries about whether or not it would stay if it was dropped, but I think I’m also a little paranoid about dropping it anyways. For anyone who is unaware, the nibs (or tips) on the pencils of things like the reMarkable, the Kindle Scribe, or the iPad tend to wear down over time from both the friction as well as the pressure which causes them to deform. This package includes extra nibs and they can be replaced by gently pulling on the nib and removing it, then replacing it with a new one.*** A comparison between the reMarkable Paper Pro and the Kindle ScribeSo since I have both devices, I am providing a brief comparison between the two:- Writing Surface – Writing on the reMarkable Paper Pro feels more like writing on a fine quality paper whereas the Kindle Scribe is a little smoother. I think it’s kind of the difference in writing with a pencil vs a ballpoint gel pen. For me personally, I prefer the Kindle Scribe, but I’ve had a couple of friends test both and some prefer the reMarkable Paper Pro better.- Displays – Both devices has excellent displays that show your writing clearly. One of the things I love with the reMarkable Paper Pro over the Kindle scribe is the e-ink colors. With the reMarkable Paper Pro, you can write, highlight, and draw with a limited set of colors which may make your notes easier to organize. The Kindle Scribe (as of now) only does black and white/greyscale.- Functionality – The reMarkable Paper Pro has a lot more templates than the Kindle Scribe, but you can also upload PDFs to both devices and use those instead (I used a website to make a 2024 planner PDF which is writeable on my Scribe). The reMarkable Paper Pro does work with non-DRM epub books, but if you are an avid Kindle reader, it would be easier to use the Scribe.Overall I am happy with the reMarkable Paper Pro and I will be using both devices for various purposes.5/5 would highly recommend.

Michael Dermody –
This is a rough one, 3.5 stars
First and foremost, the build quality feels amazing. Along with the packaging and how easily the folio and pen integrate with the tablet, this is clearly a very premium product. I also have to say that this is definitely the most paperlike a digital device has ever felt to write on for me and it’s not even close. Seriously impressed with how nice it is to write on (special shout out to the amazing palm rejection). So why do I only rate it 3.5 stars overall? One of the first bugbears for me is the UI scaling. The system settings has exactly 2 scale options: normal and large. The pdf handling allows for free pinch zoom to whatever size you need/want. The epub handling allows for double the scale options, including getting larger. The oversight of not being able to scale the base UI more freely is my first ding. Just seems like a major oversight for the OS itself to support less scaling than ebooks. The next ding is 2 in 1: the price/value. Don’t get me wrong, this IS a premium product. At nearly $800, I’d say it’s still a tough sell unless you have the super specific need that another laptop or tablet can’t provide. The other half of that is the keyboard situation. You cannot use any keyboard other than their proprietary one… to the tune of another $200. So to have the “complete” kit you’re looking at a solid $1k layout not including if you plan to use their premium subscription plan. I can’t speak to the typing experience on the keyboard, it may be amazing. I have no doubt the integration is as seemless as the stylus. I have been specifically avoiding the subscription plan (can be activated within 30 days, good for 100 days of trial time) in order to feel out how needed it is. For me, I’d say it’s perfectly functional enough without it (though once I test with the trial, I’ll update this review if it changes my mind), which I count as a positive: it doesn’t feel like a hobbled device trying to sell you on more stuff in that aspect. Everything is tied to your remarkable account regardless, so if you wanted to use this without an account, that won’t really work (you’ll need an account at least for setup). Also note that since this Paper Pro model is different dimensions than previous models, the keyboard is NOT cross-compatible (understandable but still frustrating). The stylus is a big part of the greatness: 4096 pressure levels, feels great in the hand, charges magnetically docked to the tablet (folio compatible) with nice strong magnets (doesn’t feel like you’d be likely to lose it easily). One more relatively small annoyance: the browser extension is only made for Chrome (which should extend to most chromium-compatible browsers). Wish there were a Firefox version. The UI scaling issue is something they should be able to fix in an update. Will come back and edit this review if they end up doing so.The value is going to be very dependent on your use case. For me, the value is not great but not awful. If the keyboard compatibility were more flexible (say, supporting USB OTG or bluetooth) I’d be willing to bump up to 4 solid stars overall. Ditto if the keyboard were a touch more affordable (or if they released the pinout specs so modders could create custom solutions). The greatest use for me so far has been using it to help my son with schoolwork, since I can’t use it at my workplace. If you CAN use this as part of work, the value proposition is much improved. This would be amazing for meeting notes or as a minimalist pseudo-typewriter with the keyboard. For a business road warrior, this easily pushes into 4-4.5 star territory. If you’re looking to get into a color e-ink display option and use this as a large e-reader of sorts, this probably isn’t the product for you at the price.Overall, the technical prowess on display is impressive. I very much like the product and am impressed at how good it feels and how well it works for writing. I WANT to give this 5 stars. But I can’t. If they updated the UI scaling and released a forefox browser extension I’d consider this a 4 for me and an easy 5 for a road warrior.

reMarkable quality, reMarkable lack of function
First thing first, this device is designed to be simple. It is a reading/writing pad, not a productivity tablet. This review does take this fact into account.Manufacturing quality of the product is very good. In this regard, the device lives up to its name. Presentation is also top notch, the marketing team did an outstanding job, matching Apple’s level of marketing and packaging.Battery life should be excellent, thanks to the e-paper screen. The stylus charges very quickly when attached. Mine came with a completely discharged pen and it was charged to 100% in less than 20 minutes. That is about all the good. Now, let’s review what you can and cannot do using this device.- You can make handwritten and typed notes, albeit typing only supports a handful of languages. You cannot OCR written text without internet connectivity and a reMarkable account. There is no option to draw simple shapes or tables, everything has to be done by hand.- You can read and mark up EPUB and simple PDF files containing text and small images. The device cannot display PDFs that contain complex imagery or large scans.- PDF mark-up is limited to just adding notes and highlighting. You can not select or copy images or text. You can copy content from your notebooks into PDFs, but not vice versa.- The “as close to paper as possible” marketing claim is largely overstated. Writing feels like scraping a piece of glossy plastic (pen tip) against matte plastic (display). The backlight is very useful in low light, for both reading and writing.-Display colors are totally misrepresented in marketing materials. Real colors are very dull.- USB storage is not supported. To transfer files you need to connect the tablet to a host device that supports networking. The device creates a network and presents itself as a web server. You need to use a web browser to transfer files. Why could it not simply present itself as a removable drive is beyond comprehension.-There is some ghosting when switching pages or removing/repositioning content. That is expected for e-paper. Page switching is quite fast for e-paper, but not fast enough to be convenient when reading.- File syncing and other “nicer” features require paid subscription. Free features still require a remarkable account.- Critical functionality of the device, for example backup & recovery, requires online connectivity for the desktop app and pairing of your tablet with reMarkable account. In essence you cannot use the device standalone.- Firmware update application (uuu.exe) is flagged by Windows Defender as malware, in the middle of firmware update. The update fails, but thankfully, you can reflash the device- I would not use this device to work with sensitive documents as some functions require data to be transferred to remote servers.Lastly, the price is outrageously high. Realistically, to provide good value, it should be in the sub-$200 range. As it stands now, the device is way more expensive than competitive products. The leather folio alone will set you back about $150. The woeful misaligned between price and function is why I rated this device at 2 stars. After playing some more, I am considering dropping the rating to 1 star because of the unnecessary dependence on the reMarkable account.Bottom line: This product buys you serious bragging rights, but it reaches too deep into your pockets, it is very raw, and the company behind it treats it as a portal to their paid services. The only hope is that community support or higher popularity will eventually produce better software. The one it comes with is very limited.

Absolutely amazing
I work as a research and development solution architect and take tons of notes and write documentation constantly, so the volumes of notebooks I have has become impossible to keep track of. I ran across this digital notebook and thought I would give it a shot.Out of the box it is impressive and looks very sleek. I like the feel of the pencil and the screen. I have a Surface and found that it often messes up with my hand touching the screen while writing, but I didn’t experience any of that with this. Initially, I didn’t find the menus and navigation very intuitive, but after going through the examples, I quickly picked it up. This was especially clear when I uploaded an epub to read on the plane and couldn’t figure out how to actually read it.The leather folio that comes in this package is very nice and protects the tablet well. The pencil stays attached to the tablet well enough and I like that it charges it as well. The application is easy enough to install on my PC and phone, and synchronization works well too. It is a very good feature to be able to reference my notes on my phone if I don’t have the tablet with me. I’m still working on the more fancy presentations that I see in demos, but it has definitely made my note taking much cleaner and easier to navigate/search.I will admit that it is much better than I expected and the interface is very slick. Well worth the money if you take as many notes as I do.

Mega Disappointing, I really Wanted To Like This
The Remarkable Pro left me seriously disappointed, despite a few promising aspects. On the positive side, the writing feel is fantastic—the pen tracks accurately, palm rejection is flawless, and the e-ink screen responds almost instantly. It’s not quite like paper, but it’s very enjoyable for note-taking.The color screen is good under bright light, but not quite what I expected. In low light or when relying on the front-light, the colors appear dull and muted, with some colors, like blue, nearly looking black. While colors are helpful for highlighting text or making small sub-notes, don’t expect bright, vivid colors that stand out.Unfortunately, the biggest letdown is the software, which is extremely limited. Beyond note-taking, there’s almost no other functionality. You can’t insert images or screenshots into notes, and if you want to edit notes on another device, you’re required to pay a subscription—even though the device itself costs nearly $800! It lacks the ability to download apps, play audio, browse the web, or use a word processor. While the minimalistic approach may reduce distractions, it sacrifices basic functionality to an extreme degree.Considering the price, it’s hard to justify what the Remarkable Pro offers. A simple $5 notebook and set of colored pens accomplish 95% of what this does without any hassle. Worse still, there are other color e-ink devices on the market that run Android, offer far more versatility, and cost less. I really wanted to like this device, but ultimately, it feels like a glorified notebook with a subscription attached. The value just isn’t there.

Compared to the standard reMarkable 2, the Pro also includes enhanced screen durability, better pen pressure sensitivity, and slightly brighter contrast. These small tweaks collectively create a noticeably improved user experience for daily note-taking, sketching, or document annotation.

Amazing upgrade to the ReMarkable 2
Works functionally the same as the ReMarkable 2, but with a much larger color screen, powered stylus, and stronger security settings, including a 6 digit security code vs 4 digits with the ReMarkable 2. I still use both on a regular basis, but can now keep this one at home while using the ReMarkable 2 when out and about. Very happy with this!

Incredible tool for note taking
The reMarkable Paper Pro is amazing. This bundle comes with the tablet, the cover for it, a charger, the pen and six replacement tips for the pen. Beautifully packaged, not only for shipment but also for the contents. It is significantly larger than the tablet I previously used, but it’s so lightweight that I don’t mind the bigger size at all. I got this to use for when I went to conferences, but I’ve found that its convenience allows me to use it everyday, both at work and at home. The price is pretty hefty, but I’ve found so far that it is worth it. I’m still learning things I can do with this

Paper Replacement and Convert to Text are Game Changers
Slick, well designed and invaluable when marking up pdfs and using when outside and taking notes – there is no glare, you don’t have to worry about paper shifting around, etc. It’s expensive but it’ll pay off in more ways than one.
