    I Love this speaker!!!

This very small speaker packs a lot of sound!!! It can get really loud and it’s a quality sound. It wirelessly charges phones. It’s very well worth the price.💯

  2. tims50

Works great and easy to sync

Built in mic has good pick up and sound quality for calls is good. Not a lot of juice if your looking for a jammin speaker. Wireless charging is really convenient.

  3. H. Murphy

This is the coolest speaker I’ve ever had!

This is the COOLEST speaker I’ve ever owned. The sound is awesome, it’s easy to use, charges quickly, AND IT IS A WIRELESS CHARGER! So freggin cool. LOVE IT

    Great!!

Great small speaker. Great for music in the kitchen or small room. Wireless charging works great. I have a Motorola Razer and this all works great together.

  6. EdraYSk

    Don’t buy it!

Within two months of barely any use, the sound isn’t clear, and the sound comes out with static. You’d need a new one. No returns also. I’m not a picky buyer but come on…

    It’s pretty good

I mainly use this whenever my car’s Bluetooth audio turns itself off. It’s has some good sound but if it’s too high, it starts to pop a little. Overall, it’s a good portable speaker but don’t believe it has 15 hour play time

Only charges with 5V/2A or 9V/2A

This came today, charged 60%. I plugged it in, an hour later same level. I tried another charger, an hour later same level. I checked the manual and it says that the speaker can only be charged with a 5 or 9V 2A charger, nothing else. Not from a USB on a computer or another charger. Just this one specific charger. This is probably going back, I can’t have a charger for every device.Consider it before buying.

    Excellent clarity and detail

The Mootorola ROKR 500 surprised me. Right out of the box (before burn in) the clarity is excellent and the sound is surprisingly detailed for a small speaker. It is louder than you would expect for a 5 watt speaker. The sound profile is balanced, mids, lows and highs, all good. Not what I would call a pounding bass, but hey…. it is a 4 ” speaker. The bass is well done, and Motorola says it has a subwoofer (a 1″ subwoofer?). It has to be small, but does the job. I could not find specs anywhere, just a description of features. I would guess it has a 20hz-20khz range (not positive about the low end, but the high end is more detailed than you will find on most speakers this size). It is small and light, has a built in Qi charger so you can charge your phone on it. It also has a usbc port for charge out (while it is charging). An IPX 6 rating meas is is very water resistant. I wouldn’t drop it in a bathtub, but it should be OK if caught in the rain. It also has TWS stereo, which I personally do not find terribly satisfying on a speaker this size, but it is nice to have it as an option. My one gripe with the speaker is that it sounds more mono than most. It is described as surround sound, but the speaker points up. (There is also sound out the back of the speaker, which is the bottom). It gets lost when you put it down. So, the shape of the speaker limit’s its’ sound stage.Ok, maybe not my only gripe. In this price range I look for, expect aptx, but while looking for specs I discovered that Motorola has partnered with Apple, so we will not be seeing aptx or aptxhd. It limits the potential, and the sound quality (AAC is half the bit rate of aptx) so the sound is good, quite but I suspect that none of their equipment will be high res due to this partnership. It does give Iphone users an additional choice though because Apple has limited it’s partnerships to … beats, and then dropped beats, so this gives I phone users another option (for Aac). For others, it is still a good speaker.I would recommend this as a dorm room speaker or personal speaker for listening to audio books or podcasts, or music, but it is not an outdoor, party speaker. (The ipx rating does mean you can take it outside, but the sound does not carry like a larger outdoor speaker). Yes, big sound for a 4″ speaker, but it is a 4″, 5 watt speaker. It is very good for what it is, I am just recommending realistic expectations, because it is a 4″ speaker.

    Very clear speech reproduction

I bought this speaker mostly for speech reproduction in my car when using Waze snd it serves me very wellI think it does what I need for a very reasonable price and I am very satisfied with it .

  13. Jimster480

Cool on paper, but not in practice

I picked this as a little BT speaker for my new house in my kids room. I wanted them to have something that could play music, but I could also potentially charge the phone I use to play them music with the same device… however there are some flaws overall.I feel like this one of those “because they could” products. It is definitely not a “because they should” product. Let me explain what I mean by this; overall this product “works” but nothing about it is very good. The wireless charging is subpar; since the speaker is curved and also a speaker, it only seems to charge at a slow speed and a few phones I tested easily slid off the speaker/charger. Therefore it doesn’t have much use as a wireless charging pad. Also the internal battery isn’t super big so basically if I use it to charge the phone (assuming I can get it to stay on top of the speaker), it will kill the battery of the speaker so I can’t use it as a speaker for very long. The speaker is subpar; since it is made to be small and flat like a wireless charging base but it is also a speaker, it has a very flat sound. Not flat in a good way like harmonics are good and it is tuned flat, but just that all the sound that comes out of it is not very pleasant. I have a $12 BT speaker that I also got for testing basically 2 years ago and it sounds much better than this speaker. It is larger and in that “pill” style but it is also much cheaper and sounds much better. So the point is that it isn’t really good as a speaker or a charger and as such its just a “meh” type of device. I did briefly use it to try to make a phone call and the person on the other side of the phone told me that I sounded like I was using a conference mic… not very inspiring. The only real redeeming quality of this speaker/charger device is that it has long battery life when used as a speaker only with moderate volume.I have been using it for my kids nighttime sleeping playlist and since they don’t know anything about audio quality, it has been working for that purpose. I only have charged it twice since I have had it and I have been using it almost every night for 2 months now. It seems to last about 20-30 hours on a charge which is pretty good for its size. It also charges fast with USB-C which is useful. All in all it is a good effort but I think anyone would be better off with 2 devices that do 2 separate things well rather than one device that does neither thing well.

I would not order this again for 2 main reasons.

I am absolutely puzzled by the number of positive reviews of this and the glowing recommendations. Puzzled! This speaker sounds like a portable speaker from 2008 … absolutely no bass and cloyingly bright. There are two main reasons I would not recommend this:- The sound quality is WAY below average. I seriously think a $20 portable generic brand speaker sounds as good, or better. I saw some reviews say it is dynamic and has impressive clarity. Not the speaker I am hearing! This is bright sounding (harsh) and full of treble with no bass at all. It sounds muddy and is just not enjoying to listen to. It does get loud … but it sounds harsh the louder it gets. It’s really not good sounding.- I have read the instructions (which are confusing and terribly laid out/written) twice and it seems there is no way to use this as a wireless charger … the music must be playing, or else there is an auto shut off feature each 15 minutes. So, you can only charge your phone for 15 minutes, or you are forced to listen to music. Seriously? Given how much I hate the sound on this, I figured I could at least just use it as a wireless charger without playing music. Nope!I will say that I had no trouble pairing this with any device. It is incredibly easy to pair. That is its strongest feature, aside from its compact size. The battery life leaves a lot to be desired. If you are using the wireless charging AND listening to music, you get an hour or two tops. I have a Samsung Galaxy s10 and it takes about an hour and twenty minutes to wirelessly charge from 5% to 100%. Keep in mind, to do so music MUST be playing, so that too drains the battery. You can charge and play music without using the battery by plugging this in. It comes with a short USB chord. You’ll have to get your own plug adapter … and the chord is so short, it needs to be right next to an outlet, making it tough to charge on the top of your desk. For $60-$70 this is absolutely not worth the price in my opinion. The speaker is so mediocre and dreadful sounding, you’d be better off getting something which actually has some bass. If you plan to just play soft music in the background and want to wirelessly charge your phone, maybe this could be for you. The ‘Hello Moto’ greeting might be retro fun to some but it annoys me. I would surely not order this again as it doesn’t fit my needs at all.

Not the best in this price range

Fast shipping, but they sent me the wrong color. It’s fine — blue is nice, too. This is a small oval puck from a nostalgic brand. It claims to have a woofer but if so, it adds only the subtlest of depth. If this were $45, I’d say it’s best in its class. Its current price of close to $70 feels ambitious, putting it close to much more powerful and almost-as-compact competitors like JBL.The accented “Hello Moto!” voice with the three descending ringtones on powerup takes me back! I am unsure why they designed this to put out sound on the bottom, since resting it on the bottom sort of negates that. I do like the microphone feature, and using this module as an enhanced speakerphone seems like one of its best applications. I also hang it in the shower when I’m in the middle of an audiobook and want to keep listening. The fact that it lies flat also makes it a good candidate to rest atop the flat dashboard of my van. Sometimes I listen to stuff this way rather than through my speaker system when my dog wants to sleep peacefully. Yes, I realize that’s overly accommodating but… #EmptyNester. I have SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVEAll in all, good, but not great for the price.

  16. abelsan76

    Decent little workhorse speaker!

Amazon sent me the wrong color, as Motorola thought that pink was the color of the speaker that they sent me, but it turned out to be more of a salmon color, which isn’t as girly as I thought it would be. Personal feelings aside, I wasn’t expecting it to be both a wireless charger with decent sound. My only real complaint, is that if you have a large phone, The width of the speaker is covered up, and the covers up the controls that are on top of the device. You can control the volume and the power that are located there on top of the device, but if you decide to charge your phone at the same time that you are using your speaker, you may have to control the volume and, or the power button through your phone. I have not tried the dual connection on the speaker with another speaker, but as soon as I get a little extra money, I will test out the sound when they are paired together. That function is also very convenient for when you want a fuller sound to whatever it is you are listening to. Not all Bluetooth speakers have that option, which is a nice thing to have, especially in such a small speaker like this one.

    Good sound, not spectacular

Cons:-USB-c cover hard to remove if you have short nails-I do not have means to disable the “auto-power off if not playing”: I use this in my office and pause the audio when someone comes in. minutes later the speaker will power off and then I need to power on and wait for the pairing to occur.Pros:+OK sound+Great battery life+Compact and easy to carry on your pocket+Motorola makes very robust products+Lightweight (7.7oz)I do have a SONOS and deliver so much better sound but the price is $500, this one (at the moment of writing this review) only cost $69. I think the sound quality is fine but I am not impressed. If you choose this speaker is mostly because Motorola is a well established brand and you know that this will be reliable and dependable. Battery life is good: I listen like 3h of podcast every day and lasted 4.5 days so this is about the advertised 15h. I must mention I do not play audio to a high volume so maybe that is why I got so much battery life.

Great for travel. Jack of many trades. Good sound. Nice little battery backup.

When I travel, most rental cars will have Bluetooth built-in, but occasionally you get a car without it, or for some reason you phone won’t connect. Alternatively I’ve been visiting family while traveling and borrow their car but don’t want to have to erase someone’s phone from their settings just so I can have the convenience and safety of handsfree. For years I’ve been using Motorola handsfree speakers for this reason. Also, when I get my rental I can just hook up this speaker and go without having to take the time to pair my phone to the car (since this speaker has already been paired to my phone). I can pair the phone to the car later, if I even want. This speaker is a time saver. Also, I now have a portable speaker to take with me on my travels whether I use it in the car or not. Okay, less about the benefits of the product genre and on to this specific product. This newer unit puts my old Motorola Roadster Speakers to shame (tho they were great in their prime, and had cutting edge features like FM modulation). The built-in battery meter is a nice touch (see picture), especially considering that iPhones no longer show you exact percentage amounts of battery amount remaining for a Bluetooth peripheral. The wireless charging will work with an iPhone (iPhone 12 Pro at least). The USB-C port does NOT support charging of an iPhone. It appears to be for charging the battery only. This speaker seems to be a nice little jack of all trades for the price: speaker and wireless charging battery backup. For the money it’s a good deal for a higher-end brand name product. The sound on this is pretty clear. I tried voice calls. I played music. I like that the unit uses the newer USB-C jacks and not micro-USB. The microphone pickups were good. I liked that it’s a larger speaker. Quite often the rental cars tend to be models whose primary goal was not reduction of wind noise, so a louder speaker is a plus.

    Meh

Motorola’s ROKR Speaker is quite nicely made from high quality rubberized plastics with a fabric grille. The speaker is also quite small and slim. It’s easy to toss into a bag and take with you.It connected to my iPhone 12 running iOS 15 quickly and smoothly. It maintained the connection for a good distance from the speaker. The buttons on the speaker to control music playback worked well.Everything sounds great, until we get to the actual sound quality. If you’re going to be using the speaker in a quiet and intimate setting, and you don’t need the music to fill the room, then the ROKR will work well enough. It sounds about what you’d expect from a computer mointor’s built in speaker. That is to say vocals and percussion sound fine, bass is nonexistent, and the overall sound is a bit muffled without depth or richness. It never gets truly loud, or even close to loud. Once I raised the volume above halfway I didn’t notice it getting any louder. Sony’s small round speakers cost about the same and sound much better – FYI.Battery life is fine and it charged quickly. The Qi charger on the top of the speaker works well with my phone but muffles the sound even more. All in all… lacking is sound quality and volume.

Great speaker and wireless charger – annoying boot up

Pairing was a breeze with my iPhone. Sound quality is good and it can get pretty loud. I almost wish it had one more level on silent side (because I use it at work). But that’s a nit-pick. It charges my phone well and is fairly forgiving of where you place your phone for charge function. One large detractor for me: it has an abrasive digitized woman’s voice saying “hello Moto” with some electronic sounding effects each time you turn it on. It says Motorola clearly on top- I don’t need the reminder each time I turn it on.

    Nice little speaker/charger

I picked up this portable speaker because I was very interested in the wireless charging feature, it sounded super convenient to have a portable wireless charger and speaker in one. It works well, charges via USB-C and has good sound quality for such a low profile speaker. The wireless charging works as expected, too, however just be aware that the speaker needs to be turned on for wireless charging to work.If you’re looking just for a speaker there are many competitive options but this combination is pretty unique!

  22. NaughtiLiterati

    Multipurpose pocket speaker.

I love that it has a wireless charger built into it. The sound is okay for its size – it doesn’t get very loud. You can use it on the go for calls and audio with your laptop or phone and it is definitely geared to more work than play but a nifty device to have!

  23. LeTara M.

    Great sound quality

I like my speaker. It was easy to connect my phone to it and the sound is great. At its highest volume, I can hear it all over my apartment. The battery life is okay. I can let it play for a couple of hours before it needs to be recharged, but I feel that the battery life could be a tad better. I’ve dropped it by accident a couple of times, but it’s held up well. I have no complaints.

  24. The family that likes things!

This a great portable wireless charging speaker.

This a great portable wireless charging speaker. I have to be honest I use this mainly for the charging aspect. The speaker is actually pretty good for what it is, It’s more of a thin sounding speaker. There’s other speakers that are slightly bigger/almost same size with a better sound. The speaker is better for podcast or taking brief calls. To me the star of the show is the wireless charger. That works perfect.

  25. Parks N’ Tech

Well Made, Good Battery Life, Great Sound Quality, Love The Wireless Charging!

This portable, waterproof speaker is awesome! First off, it feels nicely made and doesn’t feel cheap. The size is perfect for hiking, travelling, camping, etc., and it’s very easy to put into a backpack or even clip it to the outside of it.The sound quality is really good for it’s size and can get pretty loud without becoming muffled or tinny sounding. It is very easy to setup and use and pairs perfectly with my android phones, tablets, windows laptops, and Chromebooks. Any Bluetooth device should work with it with no issues. The battery life is pretty good on a speaker of this size and I have been averaging roughly 12 to 14 hours of use – not continuously. Which again, I think is great for the small size and quality sound this speaker has. It doesn’t take that long to charge either and it can be charged via a power bank so it can be charged on the go, as well. It can be used while charging, too. This speaker has a built in wireless charger on top – which is a nice feature I haven’t seen on a speaker before. It works well, but of course will use your battery faster. All things considered, this is a great, well priced, portable speaker that would be great for a lot of different uses. I’ve used it mainly around the pool and it did get wet with no issues to report.

  26. Jong Lee

It is not like a UE Boom speaker

I find it odd there is wireless charging on top of a speaker. Wish it was just a speaker.

  27. Arkady K

    Multifunctional speaker!

This small speaker from Motorola is like a swiss army knife of portable Bluetooth speakers. Not only does it perform the main function of being a pretty good speaker, but it can also be used as a speakerphone for answering calls (it has a built-in mic), and it can also act as a wireless charger (and a fast one at that!). The sound quality is very good and it can get pretty loud at full volume. The speaker is supposedly waterproof (I am not about to test that claim), so it can be used outside. When you turn it on, it says “Hello Moto” which is kind of cute. Motorola is a trusted brand, so I am glad they are coming out with some pretty decent accessories to complement their smartphones. I am using this speaker to listen to podcasts or music while working in the kitchen, and it is small enough to not take a lot of counter space. The controls are easy to use and they are clearly marked. Overall, this is a great personal speaker with good sound quality and some unexpected features that come in handy. I recommend it.

Great sound I had a great time listening to it ! Speaker🔈🔈

Great speaker! Great sound!🔈🔈🔈🔈🔈🔈🔈, I used this in my livingroom and my bathroom and the sound is “awesome”. Use the settings in your phone to twerk the music with an “equalizer “ that’s what I did. This is handy as well as convenient. I’m about to go outside and take this with me, to enjoy music while walking instead of headphones. It pairs automatically as soon as you turn it on and lasts for hours! I love Music! Music is life ! Motorola is “sound” ….. 👁🔈👁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Great valueSo good 😊

  29. Jeremy Mengel

Love that they brought back Motorola

I’ve been using this a portable speaker to listen to music outside or at work on my desk. The sound is really clear and the battery life is really good. I love that it has the old school “Hello Moto” greeting when it’s powered on brings me back. The four different voices though is an interesting choice it has one that says “Hello Moto” one that says “Power On”, one that says”Pairing” and the last “Pairing Complete”. I’m happy with this though and the color is so nice.

A Great Speaker from a Name You Trust

The Motorola Bluetooth Speaker ROKR 500 is a great alternative to bulkier speakers. This small form factor speaker is a great choice for an external speaker that does not need to rattle windows.I use this speaker as an alternative to listening to my phone’s audio, without being tethered to earbuds or headphones. The sound quality and dynamic range are much better than a phone speaker! The speaker is small and good looking, and not something that takes up much room. The controls are easy to read and use. The included instructions are clear and easy to follow to set up and use the speaker. I had my phone paired to the speaker’s Bluetooth connection in less than a minute. This speaker works well with my Apple iPad and my android (Motorola) phone. This is a great personal speaker that I would recommend!

    Good Sound Packs a Bunch

The Motorola Bluetooth packs a lot of power. The battery life is decent I got about 8 hours of juice. Easy connectivity and also able to talk via bluetooth on phone calls. I also like the fact you can charge your phone on the speaker.

    Wow! Impressive! And LOUD!

This little speaker is small, but wow…it sounds amazing! So loud…which is exactly what you want in a speaker. I wasn’t really sure what my expectations where when I received this…but it immediately impressed me out of the box with how small and mighty it was. The ability to charge your phone is a great bonus that you don’t see on a lot of these speakers…can confirm that works very well too. This product would be great for your office desk (or home office), bedroom, kitchen…anywhere! Especially if space is at a premium…since it essentially does the job of two things. Would make a great travel speaker too for the same reasons. It does also hold a charge for a long time and comes with very easy instructions that gets you all set up immediately.Highly recommend. An excellent product and value for it’s price point!

    Motorola, still kicking it!

This Motorola ROKR BT speaker works really well so far. It charges fairly quickly and lasts all day with use on and off. I really like that the built-in battery can also wirelessly charge my phone. The sound quality is solid for a small unit, and the volume is more than adequate for my needs. You can tell that this is a quality item by the weight and build of the unit. BT pairing is easy, and thus far, I’ve had no issues with this speaker. Two 👍. I’ll come back to update my review if anything changes my initial opinions.
