Better than GoPro, but still lacks.

My biggest issue is the battery door. It is impossible to open. I used it twice and then the door stuck closed. The selfie stick is cheap and wobbles. The only reason I purchased the Adventure kit was for the extra batteries which are overpriced. I returned this camera and will wait for the Action 5.

    Great camera gopro killer IMO

This is a great camera, it’s a gopro killer for me due to better quality images and the depth color correction when used scuba diving. The software is not as good as gopro, but the rest of it is better in my opinion.

    Upgrade from my Hero 7

I’ve owned two GoPro cameras: 3 Silver, 7 Black, and I still have the latter. Now that I have the Osmo Action 4, I’ll probably only use my Hero 7B as a B-roll camera. The Action 4 ease of use is better, and the color quality in auto modes is better than my GoPro 7B. I also used the Action 4 to snorkel in the ocean. Not only was it waterproof, but the videos were awesome.

    Buyer Beware!!!

SO I ordered this and got it 2 days ago. I was super excited. I had a gopro 9 and loved it at first but it stated giving me strange audio pops and cracks..AND sometimes the image would vibrate when doing videos. SO I sold it and swore off gopro. SO wanting another action camera for my vlogging and general purpose I researched and found this camera. Has great reviews. OK so I get it and turn it on and get a pop up screen saying something about “you get 5 times left before activation” Or something to that affect. I thought maybe it meant I get that many times to “activate” as in register it for warranty or something. SO, I didnt pay much attention to it. I did make an account with DJI and downloaded the app..BUT nothing happened..So I go to use it again and that same pop up screen wont go away now. OK…SO after researching,I come to find out, I needed to download the app “which I did” and my camera was supposed to connect to it and activate it. Well that didnt happen. SO finally after I research more it seems many people had this issue. The fix “i guess” was to find another phone and try it. SO luckily I used my sons phone and it worked..I guess I would have had a worthless 300$ paperweight if it hadnt worked? DJI needs to address this and get rid of this feature. That makes the ratings go down a lot. Anyways, ive shot a couple quick test videos just to see the quality. AND snapped a couple photos..Everything as of now looks fine. Audio isnt bad either. You dont get a lot of extras in the box. What you see is pretty much what you get. There was something else that came with it that looked to go on the lens? OR ..something? Wasnt sure..AND the battery is in the camera thats why its not pictured. IF DJI fixes that activation mess im sure I would have given it a 5/5 on everything…

This came is very easy to use. This is my first action camera. I would recommend getting a sd card 128 or larger. Smaller ss card slows down recording speeds. App works perfectly for transferring clips. Image quality is a1. 4k 60

Triumphing in the Adventure Cam Showdown

In the world of adventure videography, the competition is fierce, especially among top contenders like the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro. However, after extensive testing and comparison, the DJI Osmo Action 4 has emerged as my favorite, surpassing its rivals in key areas that matter most to me: video quality, thermal management, and overall value. When it comes to video quality, the Osmo Action 4 shines brightest. Its footage is crystal clear and rich in color and detail, outperforming the GoPro Hero 12 Black. Whether I’m capturing a sunrise over a mountain peak or the intricate patterns of a rushing river, the Osmo Action 4 delivers superior visual clarity that brings my adventures to life in a way that the GoPro can’t match.Thermal performance is another area where the Osmo Action 4 excels. Unlike the GoPro Hero 12 Black, which has struggled with overheating during extended use in my experience, the Osmo Action 4 remains cool under pressure. This reliable thermal management ensures that I can keep recording without interruption, a critical factor when capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments. While the Insta360 Ace Pro is a formidable contender with its innovative features and impressive capabilities, its higher price point makes it less appealing than the DJI Osmo Action 4. For adventurers who, like me, demand top-notch performance without breaking the bank, the Osmo Action 4 presents a more balanced package of quality, durability, and affordability. The dual-screen design of the Osmo Action 4 is a feature that particularly stands out, offering convenience and flexibility that neither the GoPro nor the Insta360 Ace Pro can match. Being able to frame shots from any angle without additional equipment easily is a boon for solo adventurers. In conclusion, while the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro have their strengths, the DJI Osmo Action 4 ultimately provides the best video quality, thermal performance, and value for money. It’s a robust, reliable action camera that has become indispensable to my adventure gear, empowering me to capture and share my experiences with unparalleled clarity and ease.TL;DR: After comparing the DJI Osmo Action 4 with the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro, the Osmo Action 4 is the superior choice for adventure videography. It offers unmatched video quality and thermal performance without the high price tag of the Ace Pro, making it the go-to camera for capturing high-quality, uninterrupted footage of all my explorations.

    Great little camera

Pleasantly surprised of how much better these are over GoPro…These take way more punishment and the batteries last a whole lot longer. The fast recharging is pretty neat too.DJI gets a 4.5/5.0Amazon gets 0/5 for bad customer service and horrible delivery persons.First purchase they delivered an empty box. Then when I contacted Customer Service they told me they could refund my CC. But instead gave me a gift card without my knowledge(Middle of March). They also had changed the checkout UI where it said using one of your uploaded cc’s or payment methods. But under that in very tiny print it showed your gift card . But not if youre using it or not. After that mess I decided to just use the Gift Card and buy another ( I went to Best Buy to purchase after Amazon dropped the ball) this is my 2nd. I just received it this morning or rather had to walk to my neighbors, as I stood on the sidewalk and the delivery driver walked past me and placed it on my neighbors doorstep. I cant make this up! So Amazon gets 0/5, so sick of this and other issues I cancelled my Prime membership, total waste of money. Today is Apr-8-2024

    Excellent In Almost Every Way

This is a fantastic action camera. I love that it pairs wirelessly (and perfectly) with the DJI Mic 2. Picture quality is excellent. The only problem I had is when the camera got hot, it would not record in 4k/60. The camera would record for a few seconds then freeze. The file would corrupt. I bumped the FPS down to 30 and it was fine. The temp outside was extremely hot though, and very humid. Thus, I still give this camera 5 stars. I mainly use this camera for quick vlog type videos.

Just what I was looking for !!! I was doing my research with different cameras ( go pro 12 , insta 360) and I didn’t know what to buy. I pulled the trigger in buying this camera and I DON’T regret it. Super easy to use, even though I don’t exactly how the other cameras work but this one for sure is simple to use !! Highly recommend. Awesome camera quality , Bang for your buck, not super bulky camera.

A Good action camera, but in no way worth the $399 MSRP

I came over to the Action 4 as someone who has used six generations of GoPro (and a couple other action cams). But who has come to hate GoPro more and more overtime due to their constant bugs, crashes, and over stated battery claims. And since I love my DJI drone the Action 4 seemed worth tryingHere’s the great things about the Action 4- It’s battery lasts about twice as long as a GoPro 11 on max recording setting- It doesn’t shut off when it heats up even with constant recording at max settings (hero 10 and 11 shut off super quick)- The magnetic mount is super easy to use- It’s battery does charge pretty quick if you have power delivery availableBut here’s why I say it’s not worth the $399 MSRP- The low light isn’t that much better. I found myself with only about an extra 10 minutes during sunset that footage was still usable. Before it became the same mushy, high ISO, blurry unusable mess of the Hero 11- 4k is very limited. Since they use less but larger pixels, you can only do ultra wide or dewarp at 4k. Which is 15mm equivalent. The rest of the zoom is digital which is junk. There are many times where I may want a closer shot and don’t need ultra wide. But for that you must go down to 2.7K. whereas on the hero 11/12 series “zoom” shots are available at high resolution due to higher overall pixel count. The 4K limitation leaves the Action 4 about equal to the now 3-year-old hero 9 for shots more “zoomed” than 15mm- The batteries and quick charger are OEM only and 2-3x the price. For 2 batteries and external charger it was $117. I can get 6x 3rd party “Enduro” batteries with 2 chargers for a hero 10/11/12 for ~$100. Yes, the hero batteries last half the time but I have three times as many batteries for the same price. And yes they charge slower, but most people don’t have a high enough power delivery charger or battery bank to get the “80% in 18 minutes” and that seems to only apply when there is just one battery in the external charging case. With three batteries on my 20w PD power bank it was ~1 hour to charge 3 batteries from ~20% which is about the same as the Hero 3x charger.DJI really needs to allow third party batteries and chargers to compete on overall ownership cost- Remote cost. DJI decided that a dedicated remote control needed to also have GPS. Making it $80. And since they aren’t great about third party support there are no cheaper third party remotes. Which means a remote ends up costing twice as much as one for the hero. Once again raising the overall cost of ownership. In summation the Action 4 isn’t bad. But at best it should be priced a little bit above a Hero 10 considering it’s features and performance (or lack thereof). And DJI really needs to support third party accessory makers. Because as of now the total cost of ownership for the Action 4 ends up being ~ 50% more than a Hero 11. But technically it’s worse than the Hero 11. It’s just a bit more reliable. Certainly not enough though to warrant the extreme initial overpriced MSRP.

    Amazing for its size.

There are plenty of reviews, so I’ll just add that for me the image stabilization was impressive. Mounting it on a bike and riding over bumpy roads still gave a smooth result. The biggest problems were 1) the lack of a saveable zoom setting, everything not up close is FAR away, and 2) the dynamic range is poor – when the sky/clouds are right, the shadows at ground level are too dark and you lose detail. Overcast days make for dark videos and I’m not into fiddling with settings for changing cloud cover. 3) Facing toward the sun, even if it’s high overhead, will result in a nasty streak in the picture. Some things can be fixed in an editor, but the overall quality is hit or miss.

Weird lens flares, overall awesome camera

I love this camera. Great stabilization, best low light performance for an action camera, & super wide lens.Found a few downsides so far. One is the super weird looking lens flares. Normally a camera puts off a straight streak of light, but this camera has a weird droopy looking flare on every direct light source or the sun. Its super noticeable and annoying, so far nobody has a fix for it because I think it just might be a lens design issue.Another downside for me is that you cant switch focal length mid recording. Not really something most people enjoy, but I got used to doing it on my phone a lot and was bummed out when I saw this can only do a slow digital zoom while recording.Firmware update also reset all my settings, im hoping this doesnt happen every time I update. Also for $500 you’d hope for it to at least come with a small memory card and charger brick. I had them already myself, but some people don’t and it’s a bit weird they ship out a product that you can’t even use straight out of the box.Last thing is that with loud audio like concerts, the audio is TERRIBLE. When the bass hits it cuts out the sound and is super blown out. I was really hoping I didnt have to use my shotgun mic with this but I guess I do.Other than that, I’ll be using this camera a lot and definitely not returning it just for those things alone. I’m glad I chose this over the gopro 12, because that update seems pretty disappointing.

Very difficult to set up for first time use, returned

I did a lot if research prior to purchasing this camera and was really excited to use it on my upcoming vacation in Fiji. I am not a technology whiz, but usually able to navigate new devices without much difficulty. Since the app is no longer available in the Playstore, I went to dji’s site to download the link for setting up the camera and was very confusing. The link I was attempting to download wasn’t working. What really turned me off, and was the main factor in returning this camera, was the difficulty with customer support. They do not have a number for you to speak with someone, is by message. So after waiting a long time to connect with support in another country, the whole process took about two hours to download the link. Then as I went to set it up, no SD card since that doesn’t come with the expensive camera package. I had already spent extra money buying accessories, such as the power charger which is not included either. It might be a great camera, however after the hassle of setting it up and concerns for future support needs I decided it was no longer fun and not worth the stress.

    Best Camera for Vlogging!!

I got my Camera last year and was waiting to do a review and let me tell you..I’m impressed by its compact design. Its small size makes it incredibly portable and easy to carry, perfect for on-the-go filming. When it comes to video performance, the Action4 excels, particularly in indoor settings. The video quality is exceptional, delivering clear and vibrant images with excellent color accuracy. Whether filming in low light or well-lit environments, the camera maintains high-quality visuals, making it versatile for various indoor shoots.Overall, the Action4 camera combines portability, outstanding stabilization, and impressive video quality, especially indoors, making it a fantastic choice for both casual and professional videographers.

This Little Guy Packs A Big Punch!

It’s about time action cameras start actually being great. This thing has nearly a 1″ sensor which gives it remarkably detailed image quality…and that’s just the beginning of the many good things this camera has to offer.Battery life is really good. I generally shoot in 4k 30fps open gate, and you can expect at least an hour and a half of continuous recording. The batteries can be recharged quick, too. They can go from dead to full in less than an hour. The Rocksteady image stabilization works well, but I prefer to use the gyro data that’s captured in the “wide” field of view to stabilize the video in post. For either of those options to work properly, you have to keep the shutter speed at 1/200 or faster. Luckily, there’s plenty of options to either set the shutter speed and iso to a fixed setting, or you can select from a range of speeds and iso. 10 bit color and a Log profile gives you plenty of flexibility when it comes to color grading.A few negatives would be the stabilization and gyro data being worthless at slow shutter speeds. If there’s motion blur captured in the individual frame, there’s gonna be ghosting when you try to stabilize it. That’s just the way it goes. So while this camera does have impressive low light performance, you’re pretty much limited to the camera being on a tripod, or gimbal and leaving the stabilization off. I also wish there was a way to select on the screen where you want the camera to set the exposure from in the auto modes. It seems to adjust according to the brightest thing in frame, which on a cloudy day is the sky, so if you have the sky in frame, the camera will adjust the exposure to that which makes everything else in the image underexposed. This problem becomes even more apparent on partly cloudy days…All in all, this camera is awesome despite it’s drawbacks. One other thing that seems kinda shady is you need to install an app just to get the camera to work. It’s probably loaded with Chinese spyware, but oh well. What can ya do?

    Two Big Problems

Two issues with this product: 1) You cannot use it without downloading a bloated 1GB non-secure application from communist China onto your phone. If you don’t use a phone connected to the internet, THE CAMERA LOCKS YOU OUT. 2) The camera doesn’t come with everything needed to make it work, which you won’t find out until AFTER it arrives. You’ll need a micro SD card and a USB Type C charging block – purchased separately. If you want to use it for Motorcycle or Bicycle vlogging you will need the DJI audio adapter ($55) and DJI microphone ($30) and some deadcats ($9.00) so no big deal. Once you have everything you need, the camera works perfectly.

    Fantastic camera got bad battery

Glad I ordered pack of batteries as the battery that came with it does work not hold charge. Put new battery in the camera works flawlessly. Produces fantastic video and photos. The durability of camera is fantastic and reliable. I would recommend DJI over GoPro. I have GoPro 2-9 nothing but problems with each one.

    Love this camera!

After watching all the YouTube homesteaders shooting only partial videos because their GoPro cameras frequently overheated and shut down, I decided to get the DJI Action4 because it doesn’t have that problem. Plus, the dual screens (front and back) allow you to insure you are in the frame for selfie videos. Was disappointed that no macro lens fits the Action4 until I discovered the “built-in” macro function that works great for close-up video of microelectronic assembly and repair. Also, love the “quick-change” magnetic mounts.

High quality sound and video. Easy to use.

The media could not be loaded.

Magnificent Daytona Beach getaway with my first action cam. Took this practically everywhere. Visuals and sound are extraordinary, even better underwater. Great for snorkel depth. Also, very small and lightweight. Battery life is decent. Smartphone functionality is also a plus, quite user friendly in general. So glad to have the dual touch screens, and SnapShot & QuickSwitch features are nice too.Details: High FPS and Ultra Wide Angle Modes are where it’s at. Rocksteady and Horizon features are icing on the cake. Works okay in low lighting, but not in the dark. Waterproof tested to about 6 feet in the pool, a natural spring, and ocean – without a waterproof case. The built-in microphones are excellent. Functions as a UHD webcam if you USB directly into your PC, without the need for a battery. With the DJI Mimo smartphone app, you can also stream directly to YouTube with a WiFi connection. Power consumption increases when using the higher function features. And the camera does get a little warm, especially when the screen is lit up. But the screen can go to sleep, and shutting off the indicator LEDs might save a little juice.Recommend: Get a decent microSD card – Samsung Pro Ultimate 128GB seems right for me. Get lens + screen protectors, lens cap, and maybe an aluminum frame case (battery and USB-C accessible) with cold shoe groove if you want to mount a flash or waterproof lamp. If you plan on scuba diving, get a watertight depth-rated housing with cold shoe groove. Find a mounting accessory that keeps the camera attached to your body, lanyard or strap. Get a tripod and tripod adapter if needed. Look for a protective case that can be zipped on while mounted to an accessory. Get an extra DJI brand battery. Get a charging case – YX for Action3 charging case holds two batteries and works perfectly.

    Amazing Camera

I got a Action3 and an Action 4. The 3 constantly overheats. The 4 is amazing! It runs and the videos look great. I can say I have limited time with the device but I have already produced a video to my channel and I love the color. 120 frames is fantastic. Top level camera. I can recommend this product!

    Privacy concerns

My biggest problem is that functionality is highly dependent of the Mimo app available only as APK download which should tell you that it did not pass the Play store’s security checks. Given that it is a Chinese product and app this becomes a red flag.Furthermore, in my opinion, all features on (any) device should be able to work without the need of my phone. The manufacturer states that firmware upgrades are possible only through Mimo.SD card is formatted in exfat. File transfer works also through the USB-C cable. The magnetic mounting system seem bulky to me. It does have the advantage of a quick release from a tripod.

    Ditch the GoPro

I am a professional motor Vlogger and have always used GoPro. I got sick and tired of always having to reset and also the overheating. Don’t even get me started on the flip down legs when you’re using the medium mod and how you have to essentially disassemble the entire thing just to change the battery. I put a video of my comparisons up on Backdraft bikes on YouTube, so you can see the differences. The magnetic mount is a game changer. The battery boxes these come with are awesome. The batteries last way longer than GoPro. They don’t overheat. You can wirelessly connect DJI Mic 2 to it. I know this is a brief review, but trust me, you won’t regret going wrong with these. Also, I think the image stabilization is far superior as it doesn’t crop as much.

    great little sports camera

Excellent picture quality, plenty of features, waterproof( worked great at the bottom of my pool).I use it primarily for timelapse videos and while you need to do some experimenting to get what you want, you have automatic settings, user presets and manual modes so you can make great timelapse videos day or night. the app needs some improvements. The biggest drawback is not being able to preview a timelapse in progress, there is at least 1 other brand that has that feature but their picture quality is horrible ( I’ll trade convenience for picture quality everytime). Maybe someday that feature will be available which would make this little camera perfect. Still giving it 5 stars as everything else about the Osmo is top notch!

Excellent Action Cam with great battery life

So, like others, I’ve been a GoPro fan for many years and although I’ve had a decent experience with the cameras I’ve purchased… I kept seeing the great reviews for the DJI OSMO Action 4. Reluctantly (partly from feeling guilty like I was cheating on GoPro and partly because all my accessories are for the GoPro’s I own), I purchased one. And … I love it. Excellent quality, easy to use, camera turns on and off quickly, front touchable screen… I can go on. AND, the battery life… I have to pack two GoPro batteries and sometimes more depending on what I’m shooting, to equal the battery life on one battery for the Action 4. Now I’ve only had it a couple weeks, but I’m using it every chance I get with no issues.

For the last month I’ve tested every single feature and I must say, this camera is THE action camera! The Adventure bundle helps a lot in terms of battery length. The magnetic clip is strong and gives you confidence while you use the stick. The options menu is OK. Voice commands are tricky but OK too. Best in the market for the price you pay.

    WOW

Yes I am very impressed with this little marvel. The image is remarkable and the camera is easy to operate. It is fairly light and watertight in shallow situations.I own several DJI products (drone, cameras, gimbles, mics etc) and each one does its job very well.HOWEVER the most impressive feature of this camera is that it does not overheat easily. I have other small action cameras such as the INSTA360 (which takes great, high quality videos), but they all have a problem with overheating, especially outdoors here in FL in the summer. DJI figured it out! This camera will run out of battery before it overheats, and that, to me is impressive. It is not cheap but I recommend you pay the extra bucks for the quality and to avoid the frustration of the camera constantly overheating.

My first dive into action cameras.

I spent a good amount of time researching which action camera to buy, from watching YouTube videos, reading online reviews and articles, and it fell to the DJI Osmo Action 4 or the GoPro Hero 12 black.Ultimately I decided on the DJI Osmo Action 4 for it’s superior low-light performance (I mainly use the camera when I go scuba diving), plus I like the fact that it hasn’t had the over-heating problem that’s plagued the GoPro Hero 12. Also, the DJI app makes it fairly easy to transfer photos/videos wirelessly to your phone. What I don’t like about it: The fact that you have to side-load the DJI software/firmware onto the camera is pretty sketchy in my book. In other words, you can’t download the “app” for the camera right off of the Google Play Store, or the Apple store. You have to do it off of the DJI website, which can be a huge security concern. If I was a government official or high political figure, I’d think twice about getting anything DJI – related (it’s a Chinese company, after all) and maybe just go with a GoPro from Sony. Ultimately though, it’s up to the purchaser to decide which camera to get.

I’ve been using action cameras for over a decade…

Unlike another brand, whose name I won’t mention, but it is GoPro, this DJI Osmo Action 4 has been great to use – it hasn’t locked up, no glitches with downloading files… it has been rock steady. Paired up with the DJI Mic 2, it has been a great motovlogging set up for my motorcycle and scoot. The controls are easy to use, battery life is good. I use it mostly on a chin mount, but have also used it hand-held (not in riding siutations) and mounted on top of a helmet. The stabilization is great. The chimes that let you know it is recording or stopped come through in my helmet. I have used the DJI Mimo app as a controller for this phone and it has been flawless. Nice to use a product that works like it should!

Better than every GoPro I have owned

Every GoPro i have owned has overheated, had corrupted files and very poor battery life. Over the years I just kept buying them thinking that every new version would have addressed these issues. I finally decided to order an Osmo Action 4 this week and let me tell you I am so happy. The quality if just as good as GoPro, the setup super easy and straight forward and so far has not shut down due to overheating. Its also built very well and seems like it can absorb some impacts. Really looking forward to making content now and not having to worry about all the issues ive had with my GoPro’s.

Lower nois. No need for an orange filter

Very nice quality of the images. Unfortunately 360 horizon steady works only with hd but not 4k. Eis is nice. Of course, it is pretty wide as any action camera. Significantly bigger sensor than the competition, practically 4/3rds.I used enclosure in the water, even though I don’t dive. First, it is super easy to fingerprint it with sunscreen all over. The enclosure is much easier to clean after. Secondly, it is fairly easy to accidentally open the USB port while in use, even in the cage.I also wish the application were more straightforward to use, and there were transcoder for hevc for the phones that don’t support it. Otherwise it is quite difficult to share right away (although there are ways, they are either not free or not straightforward).

    Good for Surfing

I surf with The DJI Action cam mounted on my helmet. While the door on my GoPro has opened and ruined more than one GoPro camera (Go Pro 11 Mini), I have never had that problem with this camera. The only downside to this, compared to the GoPro is that water beads up on the lens, whereas it doesn’t on the GoPro. I tried a product called Clarifii to prevent the water beading up on the DJI lens, but it didn’t work for me.

2 failed units & DJI customer service not awesome

I may be currently the only person on the planet to receive not just one, but two defective units. The first one was plagued with a ton of problems & obviously didn’t receive proper QC. DJI did do a warranty replacement on it which took a total of about 2 weeks total. The replacement was working well, until I tried to use the DJI mic with it. Broken connection with the mic & messed up/no sound on most my footage. DJI had me do the normal silly stuff. Reset the unit, reinstall the battery, make sure firmware is current, etc. It’s worth noting that these folks while very friendly, definitely do not speak English as their primary language, so every call I made was very difficult to even understand the reps & figure out what they are telling me to do. They also seemed to struggle understanding the most simple statements about the issues.Ultimately, they disregarded that I told them the problem happened with a USB cable hooked up as well as much worse with the DJI mic plugged in directly as intended – & instructed me to return the new DJI mic to Amazon. Amazon is taking care of that currently.Meanwhile, I did further testing with another mic all together with the same results. It’s obvious the USB port failed on the 2nd camera. So I called DJI back to request ANOTHER replacement, which they refused. They told me since it had been 18 days, I’m no longer able to get it replaced but can send it in for repair. They did provide a ground shipping label that takes 8 days from California to Texas.Ultimately I’m still without a functioning camera I ordered on 8/16/23 & will be lucky if they even repair mine & have it back to me by the middle of October between the slow shipping method & extended repair time windows. To say I’m simply disappointed with this company & the product would be a massive understatement. I probably should have returned everything & went some other direction, but due to the 2 weeks they took to replace the first camera, I ran out of time by a couple of days on the Amazon return window as well. Live & learn. I’ll never buy another DJI product after this nightmare.

You just can’t ask for more.

This is now my third DJI action camera and not to any fault of DJI. I am extremely active outdoors and have lost the other two previous cameras. The last one I owned was the Action 2 which in my opinion was a phenomenal camera and if I was not ejected from my Sea-Doo and lost it at Lake Mead, I would still have it. I Decided to go with their newest offering since it was only a few dollars more than the Action 3 and I would just have to say they have really outdone themselves with this camera. I have had the latest models of GoPro and I am just not impressed, especially with their app and transferring the files now on the other hand with this DJI camera the app has been updated and is even better than ever and transferring a files was lightning fast especially compared to the Action 2. The rock steady feature keeps the video extremely stable, and the magnetic attachment is phenomenally strong as you can see in the video. I am on a PWC with it attached to my wrist. I was scared the whole time it was going to come detached, but that might be near impossible it is solid as a rock, I have not even begun to unpack all of the features it has available. I have just used the basic features on my last trip but again I could not be more impressed or more happy it is worth every penny. I use my action cameras quite often for all of my outdoor activities to keep my memories for a lifetime and DJI has made sure that those memories are there forever!!!

    Great Camera, average battery life

For amateur users, this action camera is great without any major changes to the default settings. That being said, recording at 1080p, 60fps and rockSteady enabled gives me only 1hour 30 minutes of recording. Considering 1080p is the lowest resolution I can only imagine 2k and 4k will be worse

    A nice combo kit

While expensive, if you need the extra batteries, it’s definitely a good deal. It’s nice being able to charge the batteries in their case rather than having to plug the camera itself in to charge.I didn’t really think I would need the Extension Rod (aka selfie stick) , but it is very nice. I have ended up using it quite a bit. It’s really lightweight but it feels very sturdy. It collapses to a very small size but it extends to almost 5 feet long (the description says 1.5 meters). I used it recently along with the remote viewer in the phone app, to check my gutters to see if they needed to be cleaned out, without having to get out a ladder. The camera itself seems to take great video. The image stabilization works well. The wind noise cancellation could definitely be improved on. Even with it on, I had to do some significant noise reduction in my video editor afterward. The camera mounts with a little bracket that clips onto the camera and has that standard mount that other cameras like Go Pro use. The camera has magnets that help it automatically align with the clips in the adapter. It makes it much easier to snap in place when you can’t see what you’re doing, like if you have it mounted on your helmet. It doesn’t have very good vibration isolation. – I tried the handlebar mount and just riding on a chipseal paved road made so much vibration that it caused image distortion, and the vibration noise from the road is transmitted through the frame right into the microphone. For me this was unusable, but others I’ve seen have had no issues. Maybe my bike just has poor shock absorption. I usually mount the camera on my helmet, to avoid this issue.

I tried to install the Mimo app but my phone is not supported….Is there another way to make this camera work? It has to be….if not, i will return it. You guys should put in the description that this camera can’t be used out of the box and it needs activation and it can only be activated with specific phones that are supported by DJI. The camera looks nice but i was able to turn it on 5 times and now is basically bricked waiting for activation…

Bought the Gopro Hero12 then ‘upgraded’ to the DJI. Everything about the DJI is superb!

If you’re stuck deciding between the DJI Action 4 and the GoPro Hero 12, don’t make the mistake I did. Get the DJI! Bought the Gopro for Christmas, and very disappointed. Reliability of the gopro is terrible – gets super hot and shuts down within minutes. By February the DJI was ordered as the replacement. What a difference. This camera is awesome. It doesn’t overheat like the gopro. The build quality is most excellent. Also comes with more accessories. Just generally the DJI seems to be designed based upon the Gopro, but is more refined and seems to be designed to what the Gopro should have been. The image stabilisation and other video options are also fantastic. Sound quality is excellent. It also seem to have more features than the gopro. Also being used as a dashcam the DJI is excellent. I just don’t see any use for the Gopro now I have this. The App also seems great (on Apple), but you actually if you don’t want the app, you can just use a standard SD card reader to transfer images if you just want basic access to your videos and photos.

This is the best GoPro replacement. It takes a beating and still works.

This isn’t as powerful as a GoPro, but it doesn’t overheat, freeze or interrupts the recording with currupted files at random. The battery life is long and lasts the stated time. A GoPro would overheat and shutdown long before its battery runs out.

Power up and notice a whole row of pixels on the small front screen is out. Throws up a red line all the way down… a shame cuz its the front screen and its new! Haven’t had a chance to power the battery to 100%🙃Maybe from a $65 camera, but not this.Update: Amazon immediately replaced the item with another new Action 4. Out of the box front display is working great! No issues of overheating in battery power mode, actually no heat issues at all.Does still overheat in webcam mode plugged into computer, after battery level reaches 100%. VERY DISAPPOINTED 😞 IN ” image stabilization”

The media could not be loaded.

Before I say anything, Gopro 10 are able to produce a much stabler image, MUCH BETTER. OK saying that, this camera has as much stabilization as a Gopro7 or 8, if that. I video and produce cycling videos from rides that I recorded on previous Gopro 10 and now Im trying this simply because this camera does have a wider FOV and can handle going from shaded to bright sunshine better then GoPro 10 or 12, Much better BUT IT JUST CANT HANDLE THE STERILIZATION FACTOR. I dont know whats worse. The great image quality of hero 10 but total “bleach out” when scenery has very high contrast area OR Great wide angle imagery but Shaking camera thru the entire freakin video. THIS CAMERA HAS TO LOSE THE CONTEST because, who the heck wants to see constant image shaking/vibration. I mean its ridiculous. And I have it on their best image sterilizing mode. I also have horizontal leveling off so the camera shouldn’t be working too hard on the stability issues. IT JUST CANT HANDLE WHAT IS SO EASY FOR GOPRO TO ACHIEVE. I’m sorry but I must return this camera. It already ruined a 5 hour video, I simply can’t lose another irretrievable video like that one.
