Canon EOS M50 + EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3
IS STM Kit SLR Camera Kit 24.1 MP CMOS 6000 x 4000 pixels Black – CMOS Digital Cameras, 4K Ultra HD, Touch Screen, Black)

The black EOS M50 Mirrorless Digital Camera from Canon separates itself from the pack with UHD 4K video recording, a high-resolution electronic viewfinder, and improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF with Eye Detection AF.

Utilizing a 24.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 8 image processor, improved Auto Lighting Optimizer helps to ensure clean image quality with low noise, along with top 10 fps shooting rate and a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-25600, which can be extended to ISO 51200 for working in low-light conditions.

The sensor and processor combination also enables UHD 4K video recording at 23.98 fps, along with Full HD 1080p60 and HD 720p120 for slow motion capture. The sensor’s design also facilitates Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which uses phase-detection autofocus for quick, accurate, and smooth performance to suit both stills and video use.

Additionally, Combination IS 5-axis image stabilization also helps to realize steady, shake-free recording by minimizing the appearance of camera shake.

60 reviews for Canon EOS M50 + EF-M 15-45mm STM Kit SLR Camera

    Uma excelente câmera de entrada.

Uma câmera leve, compacta e de rápida resposta com os ajustes corretos. Qualidade da imagem tanto da foto, quanto do vídeo é muito boa. Me surpreendeu positivamente e recomendo o produto.

    Ottima entry level

    GREAT FOR VIDEO/FILMMAKING BEGINNERS!

I am writing this review almost a full year after purchase. I used this camera primarily for video and vlogging and it has been absolutely great! I was a complete beginner at videos at the time and I was looking for a camera that was easy to use and had good auto focus. This camera has delivered on all. I am aware that people are saying the auto focus isn’t that good in 4K and the crop makes the 4K totally useless. But I feel like they are comparing these features to a camera that probably costs 1k-2k more than this camera, so of course that will be the case. I have used the 4K and there is a crop but I love shooting videos and I made it work and it’s really not that big a deal. It also depends on what you are using this camera for. For vlogging and most videos that a beginner would shoot, this camera is perfect. For the highly critical enthusiast and professional filmmakers doing professional work, this camera won’t cut it. But it’s not SUPPOSED TO,this is a 650 dollar camera. The menus are easy to navigate and after about 4 months of playing around, I have learned the ins and outs of this camera like the back of my hand. I feel like now it’s time to graduate to a new camera but I am still keeping this camera for vlogging purposes because it’s great for that and it’s super lightweight and small. Lastly, the lense selection is not that extensive so I actually just used the kit lense and that’s it. I did this because I knew I would eventually buy a more expensive camera so I didn’t invest heavily in lenses for this camera and the kit lense is actually pretty versatile. Lastly, if you are a beginner like I was and you are thinking you need all these features, DCI 4K/8k or just an expensive camera to make things look good, you don’t. There are so many other factors like lighting and color grading etc that come into play. You won’t be able to appreciate or use the features of a more expensive camera to its fullest potential until you first gain the knowledge to do so. Just like a more expensive guitar won’t make a guitarist better at playing. More expensive cameras usually have a higher learning curve and some even make you pull manual focus so why not start with something that you can fire up and start making content with rather than spending 3 times as much money only to get your camera in and have to learn massive amounts of info before you can even use it? All in all, this a great camera for the price. If you are a beginner, you will love this camera. At the end of the day, this camera accomplishes exactly what it set out to accomplish and it is easy on the wallet. The video is also stellar and in my opinion is miles better than filming with your phone. If you are a beginner, I have hard time believing that you will be disappointed with the quality of videos that come from this camera. Happy Filmmaking

Great Midrange All-rounder Mirrorless – Comparable to good DSLRs (simply, a compact & updated 77D).

This is my first high-quality camera. And, I am still exploring.Image quality and video quality seem really good. The full rotatable touch screen, mic input, and good user interface make it a very good deal for me, as I plan to do personal content creation.I considered the Sony a5100 as an option, but could not make the compromises and got this instead. But, the Sony a5100/6000 is great value for money even today, if you want it only for still photography.I got the m50 at around 51k on Amazon Prime day. I think you can wait if you plan to buy. In the US it costs only 650-700 bucks, so the Indian price may reduce in a while.I would recommend the EF to EF-M mount adapter along with the Canon 50mm F1.8 STM lens, or even the EF-M 22mm F2 lens if you prefer the compact form factor (no adapter business). They do make a significant quality difference in portrait photography and further improve the sharpness of the camera. I would add some sample clicks in the future with my Nifty Fifty lens. The supplied carry bag is too big, hence I bought the Amazon Basics Carry bag for Compact Cameras, and that fits it well (even some of the other mirrorless cameras too). The m50 is now in a really compact package and I can take it along easily in my backpack most of the time.Update: May 20191. Since now this is available at below 50k, with offers and discounts it can be owned at 45k, this is a steal in my honest opinion.2. Added sample photos!!! Particularly from the popular 50mm f1.8 lens, used with an adaptor.Update: September 20191. I am enjoying the camera more and more, the camera has just the right amount of controls for a beginner.2. I came to know about Viltrox Speed Booster for M50. Adding a speed booster is an awesome way to make the camera much more capable. Planning to buy it, but would probably directly get it from US or China.Update: December 20201. Sigma lenses have made this EOS-M series cameras way more complete and worth than ever.2. I strongly recommend the “16mm F1.4 Sigma” for Vlogging, “30mm F1.4 Sigma” or “32mm F1.4 Canon” for Street and Portraits.3. But, the “56mm F1.4 Sigma”, I would settle with the “50mm F.18 Canon” for the value it offers. Moreover, there is an update to the original Canon M50 with a Mark ii, with an almost identical feature set.I don’t know why Canon calls it mark ii.Also, if you plan on serious content creation and want the best quality, in the long run, I would recommend the Canon EOS RP (Body only) with Canon EF 17-40mm and 50mm (Nifty-fifty)

    Canon eos M50

    Awesome camera, pathetic seller

The tiny beast feels really wonderful in hands. The digital viewfinder is awesome. Really liked the remote live view support from my mobile and the beautiful flexible display screen 😊 The provided kit lens is quite average. Ordered an EF-M Mount adapter to be able to use my EOS 50mm lens. Note that the max FPS supported is 100 (not even 120) and that too in 720p resolution only. The images look little grainy beyond 5000 ISO, so didn’t gather the courage to try upto 25600 supported ISO 😁 But overall, no problems with the camera so far. Now, why I deducted one rating is because of the seller (Appario Retail, Lucknow). Very cheap packaging. NO camera bag. NO memory card. I don’t understand why would someone ship a camera that can’t be even used without some additional accessories 😑 And that too, after paying 51.9k. Fortunately, I already had another 64GB SDXC card, and so I managed. But can be extremely frustrating for someone who doesn’t have one.

This is a great performer and an Amazing value!

I am going to keep it simple. Buy this camera! If you want more details, keep reading :)I was hesitant in buying this camera, my main camera is a 5DS R, but I needed something small and more flexible for travel and less formal photography outings. I wanted something that would play well with my EF lenses and I also didn’t want to spend more than $1,000.00.I purchased at the same time the Fotodiox Pro EF lens mount adapter. It works flawless, so far, and all my EF lens work perfect! The EVF is one of the best I have seen! Being new to mirrorless cameras, it is so amazing to get a live preview of how pictures will turn out! I also like that I can now use the view finder when doing videos! The flip out touch screen is really great too – I set it so I can change the focus point by sliding my finger on it while holding my eye to the EVF.Speaking of focus, it has quick autofocus and tracks moving subjects very well. I had no issues when using the lens adapter and the adapted lens performed with no loss of performance. The kit lens works amazingly well and the picture quality is excellent. There are so many features packed into this little camera. Its does feel less solid than more expensive cameras and the 4k is held back. You have to ask yourself how important that is to you. Video is not my main thing so I don’t mind. What is great though is that the dual pixel autofocus in 1080P mode works amazingly well and focus is probably more important than 4k for most folks these days.I also changed my menus to the classic Canon style as I am familiar with those from years of owning Canons. That goes a long ways to making the camera work for me.If you already have Canon lenses and you don’t want to break the bank, this is an awesome camera to buy. I did not think I would like it this much but now I find myself using it all the time. When in doubt, always remember that some of the most beautiful and timeless photographs were taken with very basic old school film cameras. You can spend all day reading reviews and watching videos of people picking apart every last detail of a camera. Remember why you are buying a camera and just go out and take picutres!

    Great camera

I purchased this camera instead of the A7S which is in the top of it’s class for mirrorless. This camera is a fantastic price and works very well. I can see a beginner being comfortable with it and a professional still being able to use it. It’s auto focus feature is great although once you get in 4k you’ll start to have some problems. The camera quality is pretty great I purchased an adapter that allowed me to use Canon lenses which helped. The crop was annoying however there are Booster adapter that can help with that. This camera is pretty powerful and once you rig it out it looks great. However if you’re a professional looking to shoot high quality content for a client I would not use this as your A Camera. I would recommend the A7s or Black magic if you can bite the bullet in price. I’m really glad that Canon is making it’s way into Mirrorless and can’t wait to see whats next with their 4k autofocus and low light capability.Great camera for the price!

JUST ONE WORD- BRILLIANT CAMERA 👌👌

Sunch a wonderful peace of technology that I was always looking for…….it’s so compact and can be easily handled with one hand…..and yes..it’s the MirrorLess DSLR camera….clicking photos from it has been such a pleasure and eye pleasing experience……the kit lens is okay for decent photography….pair this up with a 50mm prime lens ( you will need a EF-M mount adapter for it) and you will witness what this camera is capable of.( I have attached few sample unedited photos of them, check them out) ….even a normal grade photographer can become as creative as a professional photographer….On total…this camera is so compact and its definitely a small beast with plenty of options to play with…if you are thinking to buy this for Vlogging travel or a mid professional grade photography…just go with eyes closed…and I bet you..you will not regret..I brought it from a a seller named TBH , and the box and packaging I received was intact…thank you Amazon for the wonderful service..Watch out for Unboxing video on my youtube channel”Smart tech explained better”, let me know if you have any questions on this camera over there…If you are getting this…then congratulations…and welcome to the m50 family:)

    Awesome!

I’m new to mirrorless cameras. I still haven’t used this camera to its fullest potential or played around with all of the features. The images and videos I have captured are mindblowing. I need to get an adapter so I can use some EF-S lenses on it from an older Canon SL2, but even with the 15-45mm kit lens, I was able to capture some interesting footage. Auto-focus is ridiculously fast! I’m no expert, but picture quality is impressive as is the video quality.Ease of use, as I said, I’m still learning, but down the road, I would rather shoot in aperture priority than full auto. Full auto is fantastic for starting out as it gives useful tips for beginners. All in all, I’m not at all disappointed with this purchase. Yeah, there are higher priced cameras out there, but this one does just fine for what I need it for.

TOTAL NEWBIE: Awesome Step Up from Point and Shoot

Let me start by saying that I am not a camera expert. I’ve had point and shoot cameras ever since I put my hands on one 20 years ago. Along the way, I upgraded to newer and more powerful models. The last camera I owned was a Panasonic DMC-LX7. I took it on my glider flights (I am a pilot) and loved the small form factor and high quality pics (see flightbit@ on Instagram). Recently I took the big step to “interchangeable lens” cameras and LOVE it!The Canon M50 retains many of the benefits of a smaller point and shoot. While it’s not entirely “pocketable”, it’ll fit in most jackets, especially with the 22mm lens. I bought a wrist strap to make sure I don’t drop it while I stick it out of my sailplane’s window. It nicely fits the MindShift Gear PhotoCross 13 Sling Bag along with all the other stuff I carry to the airport. Anyways… back to the ground…The picture quality is amazing. I took a few Youtube classes (I recommend Chris Bray’s series) to learn about aperture, shutter speed, etc. This opened up a whole new world of creativity for me. The M50 has all the controls you need to make stunning professional looking pics (You know the ones with the blurry background or precise focus points). With Chris’ help on YouTube, I was able to skip through the “Dummy Mode” that comes default with the camera and jump straight into Aperture and Shutter priority modes. I can see how the default mode can be super helpful for others who are new to the camera geek speak. Anyways, you’ll want to watch some YouTube videos if you’re new to photography and want to spend this much money on a camera. Also, on YouTube, you’ll find a lot of reviews talking about the 4k crop factor and poor auto-focus (contrast based vs dual pixel gets mentioned a lot). You can forget about all of that stuff if you’re new like me. The 1080 HD video is awesome and has all the bell and whistles that’ll make you look like Spielberg. You can even tap anywhere on the screen to move the focus! Amazing. There were a few things I had to get used to or would like to see improved. The viewfinder is handy but I struggled with the touchscreen jumping on and off. Like your phone, the camera has a proximity sensor that turns off the screen when it senses you close by. This didn’t work very well for me so I tuned off the viewfinder in the menu system. I wish there was a simple button to turn it on and off.I had to dig a little to figure out time lapse videos. They’re not on the dial or onscreen menu. You have to go into the settings menu within movie mode and turn it on. Again, YouTube will be your friend.Lastly, be warned that the “interchangeable lens thing” is a bit of a money pit. I found myself buying the Canon 22mm EF-M lens, which is great for everyday photography. As an aspiring landscape photographer, I also got seduced into buying the Laowa 9mm lens, which goes for $499 on Amazon. Luckily I found one for $380 on the used market. Beware of the temptation!Let me know if you have any newbie questions. I love the camera. I hope you will too. Have fun!

Really great! Skip the marketing Hype… the EF-M is the way to go…

If you are into 4k video, you need to move on… the M50 is a great photo camera. It is as good as or better than an 80D or 7D and rivals the 6D full frame. They call it an entry camera, only because they want you to spend more. Yes it is not weather sealed. I don’t take my camera scuba diving, but the images and flexibility of this camera is phenomenal. So aside from the the 4k issue..(ever try editing 4K? forget it), this will give you just as good photos as any camera costing as 4 times as much and be FAR more practical. It is small and light. No need to carry a brick. I have owned a 60D for years and also an 80D… how nice to b able to put a nice 22mm F2 lens on the camera and stick it into my pocket, and when needed my 18-135 or 55-250mm lens works great, though you do have to buy a Comlite adapter… Love it!

I would start with this camera

This is a great starter camera, especially at the price at any condition. The lenses I had with it were the 22mm (pancake) , the 50mm 1.8 (nifty 50) w/ a viltrox speed-booster and the kit lens 15-45mm. Shoots great cinematic stuff with 50mm, 4K (cropped) on the 22mm in manual mode is tolerable for the price you paid. AF was fast, quiet, smooth on kit lens. The camera was great, mine specifically was a lemon and the screen cut out all the time but not a reflection on brand or model. Great travel camera, street photography on 22mm is amazing, the 50mm will be used most of the time. I borrowed a sigma 16mm and it looked great on the m50 but not so much better than the 22mm I paid a fraction of the price for. So, if you’re looking at the sigma 16, try the pancake lens first. I got mine used at $125 usd

10/10 – RECCOMMENDED TO ALL MY FRIENDS!

The media could not be loaded.

FIRST OF ALL, i need to say THANK YOU to the seller for their AMAZING! OUTSTANDING! SPECTACULAR! Customer service. So let me tell y’all a little back story. I usually get all of my packages delivered to my work address, due to that being the location I am at more often than my home. So, i guess due to all of this COVID19, Canada Post has started “weekend delivery” and unbeknownst to me, delivering on SUNDAYS.. one of the days I don’t work, lol of course. Obviously I wasn’t at work on Sunday, so Canada Post took back the package and i received a notification on my phone saying that the business is closed, and will be held. When i arrived to work on Monday Morning, they didn’t leave one of those “We tried to deliver cards” or anything advising me on the next steps.Alright cool.. so I called Canada Post, i was on what seemed to be the longest hold of my life, and when someone finally answered they were of little to no help to me.Slightly irritated and frustrated, because WHO DELIVERS TO A BUSINESS ON SUNDAY.. I send a contact email to the seller, literally within minutes, I receive a response asking for my phone number.Literally 2 mins after that, I receive a phone call. The customer service is so incredible they were able to rectify the situation and did their due diligence to ensure the camera had another delivery attempt the very next day.I ordered it on Wednesday, May 20th and I kid you not, it was shipped out that very night!Everything was BRAND NEW, neatly packaged, in the box, all manuals, battery, camera strap. It is so lightweight, easy to use, different filters, functions. Just an amazing camera that’s very easy to use.I have honestly been researching cameras for the past 3 years, and i’ve been scared to commit and spend nearly $800 online without seeing the product physically.. but i’m so happy the universe aligned me with this seller!I know i was OD detailed, but I only give reviews when I feel like it’s deserved. Thank you for coming to my TED talk lol

    See the dealer first

There’s nothing to say about camera as you people already know from youtube videos .The camera is perfect for beginners but if you are buying online then make sure the dealer is a trustable .I got it from brandfactory Estore which did a great job by providing a brand new perfect camera with a good qualityCamera bag …I got EOS camera bag while rest customer were given a bag of canon point and shoot camera and I’m pretty impressed with the bag quality . 16 gb 45 mbps ,15-45 mm lense ,bag ,charger ,strap ,body and bag is all i got .. one thing is missing is lense hood .. if they provided lens hood it would have been better .

Really great camera – lousy manual.

The camera is really well made with excellent features. The available macro lens makes it into a macro photographers dream. The OLED viewfinder in addition to the LCD touch screen works really well, personally I don’t think you should get a mirrorless camera without this because there are many outdoor lighting situations where the LCD screen becomes useless. And it is a very good value for a mirrorless camera. It is also a small frame camera so much easier to carry around than your average Mirrorless or SLR.Some setup items are not intuitive and the manual is terrible and incomplete.Had to talk to Canon to actually find out how to preset white balance, the manual leaves out a crucial and necessary step entirely.

Great camera for a great price!

I did a lot of research trying to find which camera would be best for me for the best price and the Canon EOS M50 was the winner. As someone who knows little to nothing about cameras, it has been easy for me to use and I’m starting to get the hang of it only after 3 days of using it. It’s a really nice camera if you like to travel a lot, since it’s a small camera but it has the results of a bigger more expensive camera… and if you don’t mind having a small camera (especially if you have small hands, like me!), this camera is perfect and has a good enough grip that you won’t be worried about accidentally dropping it.

This is a brilliant camera in every sense. The controls take a little getting used to for someone who has only used a mobile phone camera but once mastered, there is no looking back. Great images with great clarity. The detail is fantastic and even with the standard lens, the zoom brilliant.I am a landscape and wide angle photographer and cannot wait to buy the wide lens.Take a look at the images below taken by a new to DSLR amateur.

There’s not much to fault on this camera apart from the crop factor in 4K and you lose the autofocus.I would highly recommend this camera for multipurpose and especially vlogging.

    Solid

The pictures that come out of this are far better than the price would suggest. It’s easy to use, and a good beginner camera for someone getting used to the manual controls. The autofocus for pictures and 1080p video is faultless, but in 4K video it doesn’t work at all. There is no dual pixel AF in 4K. The Lens it comes with is fine too. Overall it’s a solid camera. I just wish canon would allow decen af in 4k

If you have Canon lenses then make sure your the Canon adaptor when buying the camera

I bought the m50 as my DSLR, was to heavy so sold it and a 28-300 zoom lens to a friend, I am over the moon with the camera, I also bought Canon M to EF adaptor which I find is an essential bit of kit. I still have my 100 to 400 Canon zoom lens and a 400 Prime lens an 85 1.8 Prime a 50 mms 1.8 standard lens also a 20- 105 zoom all of these work excellent with the M 50. Auto focus fully operational i also use a canon1.4 converter with the white lenses so that my 400mms lenses become nearer 900 in and give excellent reproduction. Will also mention my Canon seedlings flash also works with the camera. I am over the moon with camera. I rarely use video but I am happy with that adaptor

    Amazing camera

I love this thing, I bought it mainly to make videos and take occasional pictures. Learned to use all its functions on a 5 day trip to the Canadian Rockies. Very versatile and perfect for beginners. The video quality is very comparable to higher end cameras. In my opinion, an ND filter is a must for shooting outdoors if you want to properly control your depth of field and exposure. My friends had canon rebels and other DSLR’s… this felt more premium and compact in comparison. It’s significantly smaller than your typical DSLR, which is nice. It’s got some weight to it and it’s materials feel premium. Pair this with an external mic and an ND filter and you have a great video camera… might need a lens or two in the future as the included lens is somewhat limited.

    So far, seems okay

I find the menus a bit fussy – I actually had to download the manual just to figure out how to switch to a standard black and white (not their grainy black and white filter). I try to be very careful with the battery door and opening the touch screen as I’m leery of their long term stress load. The kit lens so far is a bit meh, but most are. Be careful to make sure to slot the tab forward before trying to open the lens. I’m planning to replace it with a prime. Some things I liked – once I downloaded the manual – adjusting the focus in the viewfinder (!) so that I could read the menu clearly without glasses. It allows you to skip opening the viewer screen for simple AF shots. The camera is a nice well balanced weight. I also have very small hands and can’t grip around a T7, so this size is perfect for me. People with larger hands (i.e. normal people) might find it a bit of a tight fit, especially with the navigation disk on the back (it’s about the size of a dime!) The camera takes to a screw base tripod cleanly. I have not tried the wireless-phone app connection, so can’t comment on that or any associated apps.

Ideal for what I need it for!

Let’s get this out of the way first: this is, first and foremost, an entry level mirrorless camera. It won’t have the most functions or the highest image/build quality of the best lens out of the box, but that’s not what I was expecting when I ordered this awesome camera. I was expecting exactly what I got, nothing more and nothing less. This is a great camera! Especially if you’re new to photography or if you want a light body camera to do some vlogging or streaming (you’ll need add’l accessories to stream, to be clear). Image quality is good, build quality is good, touch screen is basically phone quality (ie really good) and the kit lens that comes with the camera is actually pretty handy. Will this stack up against an R5? Lol no and the price of each reflects that. But you absolutely get more than enough camera for your money. Attached some photos (clearly edited) so you can see what to expect.**Edit: the star that I took off was for battery life. I think this is the biggest fault here, so definitely make sure you snag some spare batteries (yes, you’ll need several) if you want to use this out in the wild for an extended amount of time!

Nice Camera but NOT a DSLR

The M50 is probably better classed as a high end point-and-shoot and while it has come nice features, it should not be used to replace a DSLR. In my case, I had to sell my 6D because of the pandemic work situation and this has been a sobering step downward. Most of the posts I’ve seen tout its vlogger capabilities, but I am not one of these users. I also have a strong word of caution if you’re an Adobe LR user on a Mac that will not support upgrading past Mac OSX 10.11.6. Unless you can, I’ve been unable to find a way to convert the M50’s CR3 formats to DNG. I even downloaded and installed Adobe’s DNG Converter app, but it will not do the conversions. As a result, I will only gain full use of the camera by investing another $1K in a Mac upgrade; something I am not able to do right now. While it’s not a camera issue, I’m infuriated that the converter app won’t work. Avoid the up front costs if this will be an issue for you.

    Great entry level mirrorless camera.

First and foremost. If you want to be able to shoot 4k, don’t buy this camera. The auto focus is unusable. Even in manual focus it’s a low quality 4k. Where this camera really shines is for vlogging. It’s small and light. Flip out screen. Good to go. As for b roll…..yes and no. A lot of people talk about settings that imitate c log. But in reality that doesn’t work. Dial down the sharpness a fair bit, but leave the others SLIGHTLY flatter than you want the final look to be. And use A LOT of light. Even with the iso at 100 there’s a fair bit of noise. But all that said it’s a great camera for the price. And will definitely give you a taste of everything as far as photography, vdieography, and cinematography.

    Great 1st Real Camera

I’m coming from a point and shoot camera that’s almost 10 yrs old. I use it mostly for high school sports (cross country, bowling) as well as video of band concerts. The audio isn’t the best, but I got an external mic which fixes the problem. The original lens isn’t the best, but it does a decent job. I bought a zoom lens for distance shots. The auto focus is really good and there isn’t a steep learning curve using this. Very happy with my purchase. I’m a total beginner photographer so I can’t compare this to other mirrorless cameras on the market but would highly recommend this camera.

Great for Pictures Not a Vologer cam

Great little mirrorless super high resolution camera. Fantastic picture, but, DOES NOT HAVE A CLEAN HDMI so unless you want to give up the great autofocus and tracking this camera is useless for any kind of Live work . Yes there are workarounds. When I spend $500 to a great big company like Canon I expect to not have to work around and spend MORE money to make the camera do what I purchased it for. So Because Canon represents this as a vloging camera I give it a 3. Over all for pictures and pre-recording i give it a 5 ..Camera WiseUHD 4K video recording, a high-resolution electronic viewfinder, and improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF with Eye Detection AF. Utilizing a 24.1MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC 8 imageFor meI did upgrade to a Canon D90.Hope this was Helpful

    great upgrade from the T5i

Please Note: I primarily use this camera for video. Amazing autofocus on faces. Not as amazing autofocus for other subjects – especially if if the subject is moving! I have switched mostly to non-autofocus for tripod-mounted video work. In that case the ability to have the camera highlight images once they are in focus is a huge bonus. Spend a few hours learning some tips and tricks from youtube and my enjoyment of this camera shot way up. Tons of auto-focus points. My previous camera was a Canon T5i and I’m very happy with the upgrade. Better low-light performance (I primarily shoot video indoors WITHOUT professional lighting.) For photos the autofocus is amazing. One downside is that it is SO SMALL. I’m tall so I guess I have large-ish hands, and I find the camera almost awkwardly small. I have looked into buying a camera cage for video work, in part because it just makes the camera a bit bigger and gives me more to hold onto.

    Fantastic Introduction Camera

There isn’t much else I can say about this camera that hasn’t been said already multiple times. I also use it for YouTube livestreams, but you’ll need one of two things to make that work. 1) An Elgato cam-link 4K dongle to connect between the camera and your PC. Will allow you to stream the camera at 1080p and 60fps (4k at 30fps). 2) You can search for the Canon EOS webcam utility program. It’s a simple install application that you don’t need to do anything else after. As far as I know, it only works for the OBS streaming platform to recognize the Canon camera as a webcam. But it’s also limited to 720p and 30fps. So… FYI on that. To ensure it’ll work on any program that you want to use the camera as a super webcam, i recommend getting the Elgato cam-link.

Secretly one of the best cameras on the market!

Sony has made a loud-explosive bang on the camera industry with its mirrorless full frame cameras. While the Canon M50 doesn’t offer a full frame sensor, this small mirrorless camera PACKS a FULL PUNCH!Quite possibly the most underrated, and least spoken of camera on the market today! Unlike its traditional DSLR older brothers this new small Canon mirrorless covers 80% of its auto focus area (not just 19-65 cross points!), using the classic, and hands down best auto focus system in the camera market, with its “dual pixel auto focus”.When compared to my Canon t6i crop sensor digic 6 24.2mp this new digic 8 24.2mp is quite noticeably sharper, and colors are cleaner, brighter, and skin tones are just brilliantly smooth and pure! The flip out, fully articulating screen has the best touch screen in the camera industry, and offers functionality like; touch to auto focus, touch to snap a pic, move points of auto focus, and much more. The battery in this camera is small, but last very long! After one hour of shooting 4K still had a full charge!Micro HDMI out which is great if you want to par with a monitor or OBS self recording for live videos.Video format: IPB only.Video recording: 1080p up to 60fps and 4K 24fps. (While shooting in 4K there is a lost of dual pixel auto focus, and the camera switches to contrast auto focus. Also while shooting in 4K there is a 2.65 crop.)Picture. Does Raw and JPEG or RAW +JPEG up to a 6K equivalent image.Suggestions: buy this with the Canon EFM to EF adapter as there aren’t many EFM lens options. But there are plenty of EF budget lenses. My recommended favorite is Sigmas 18-35mm art, gives you a full frame picture look, with amazing depth of field!Negatives: in my opinion there aren’t any, if you consider the price for what you are getting. However,• 4K is cropped w/o the use of DPAF.• Single memory card slot.• Not to many lens options.• Grip is smaller than DSLR.• No headphone input.

Excellent mirrorless camera – smaller size and light weight

I bought this to replace my Canon 600D DSLR camera I purchased more than 6 years ago. Compared to 600D this camera is small, light weight and build quality is also much better. Initially it may take a couple days to get used to electronic view finder as there is a small delay (may be fraction of second). It takes excellent photos with punchy colours in JPEG and videos. I have yet to try 4k video as it fill up the card very quickly. The bundled kit lens is very compact and good quality for its price. If you are new to DSLR or already own an entry level DSLR you can give this one a try. The other comparable (mirrorless) cameras are offerings from Fuji. I had played with it Fuji cameras during a US visit, XT-20 is an excellent camera with great kit lens but about 30k pricey in India. I am not also sure about after sale service for Fujis in India, so did not want to take risk. Sony’s A6300 is also another comparable camera but it is 4 years old already. Since I already own a Sony RX100 P&S camera did look into Sony cameras further.I will stick with only the Kit lens for an year or so before buying other lenses. I’ll update the review in few months.

    I love this camera.

I love this camera for both video capabilities and pictures… 1080P is super crisp I haven’t played around with the 4K but from reviews it’s lacking a little. The features are excellent. Going from full auto mode with pre-set features to filtered pictures to full manual controls… A great camera to learn on that is for sure. It takes like 10 pictures a second if you need that. Oh and you can also ask it to give you a JPEG with a RAW picture at the same time. The RAW picture lets you ajust settings like exposure after the shot was taken for you know more control over stuff like that.I put in a few pictures that I have taken with this camera with the stock lens. The one in the night sky is out of focus and it was one of the first pictures I took to see if it could do it. It was set up on full manual so the auto focus was off and I wanted to know if I could take a picture of the sky at night and I think I could dial it better but obviously I didn’t do that and that is skill level not the camera’s fault. The main thing here is that the screen doesn’t pic what you see in the picture out so you are taking that kind of picture blind. I guess I could have taken a few more and really dialed down that focus. The second was with full auto on with focus on the tip of that board. It’s pretty clear… I am happy with it.

The best mirror less camera in a reasonable price.

Canon EOS M50 is the best camera for still pictures and videos. The camera is very handy and less weight than any DSLR camera. You can connect with your smartphone and operate directly from your phone. The picture and video quality is too good and the mic. of the phone is very good in quality. You can shoot outside without any external mic. For YouTuber this the best camera even from GoPro Hero 7 because the brand name is a matter. The battery will continue shoot videos at around 1hr 45 minites. So I want to suggest this camera for all. This is a all purpose camera and the price in Amazon is the best.

Perfect for my needs. Loving it!

I’m not a fan of buying something because it is new. I am a fan of buying things that solve problems. The problem I’m having is that I’m getting older and my heavy DSLR and long Canon “L” lenses were getting too heavy to cart around all day. So I made a list of Must have and Nice to have items.Must have: small, lightweight, interchangeable lenses (and a variety to choose from), fully articulated LCD, near zero shutter lag, raw processing, 8 shot buffer minimum, high ISO, viewfinder (with visible histogram), hot shoe.Nice to have: wireless remote, iOS app, GPS.This camera has all the items on both lists. (The GPS requires connection to a phone, and that drains the battery on both, so I probably won’t use it much)Then there are some unexpected bonuses. One is that Canon introduced a new raw format called CR3. It is highly compressed and lossless, so it will save considerable disk space. This is getting important with >20Mpixels on modern sensors (24 here, IIRC). The camera came out March 26. Adobe updated its software April 3 to handle it.You’ll get a lot of opinion on what make a camera a professional’s camera. Non-photographers judge by bulk, and that’s just stereotype. To me, a professional camera has better weather sealing, multiple memory cards and a large buffer (transfers image to the card). It would also have a bigger offset between the tripod screw and the battery cover. (So the battery could be changed easily without removing the tripod or plate. As for full frame, it doesn’t matter. Imagine an 8×12 picture, perhaps from a magazine. Then put a mat on it where the sides are 1 inch thick. The part of the picture you see now is 6×10. That’s what a 1.6 crop sensor does (in round numbers). The part of the image you see is completely unchanged. If the lens manufacturers just changed the numbers on the lens itself, no one would ever know. A lens marked 10mm becomes 16mm, but all else is the same. If you like the fisheye look, then you have to go full frame, but for pretty much anything else it doesn’t matter. As for video, that’s a matter of the buffer. Shooting at 30 frames a second means filling the buffer fast (just hold the shutter button down on the camera you have now and see how fast it fills). To make continuous images for video, any camera has to crop the image before even sending it to the buffer and then the card. So video means a tighter crop. Again, a pro might want a more video capable camera .The only glitch I ran into was with a third party lens from Tokina. The new software in the camera didn’t talk to the software in the lens, and so it generated an error message about the connectors not being clean. After returning the first lens and getting a second with the same problem I called Tokina and they told me about the mismatch. They said that they’re working on a firmware ujpgrade that will require me sending in the lens, but they had no due date on the fix. (I sent it back). If you’re considering a lens from them or any 3rd party, I suggest giving them a call first. When they fix it I’ll buy the lens again and update this review.EDITED TO ADD:1. Thing I miss the most: Port for wired remote shutter release. Yes, the smartphone app does the job but it burns the battery. Also, no way to take time lapse, which uses an intervalometer (and that feature isn’t in the app, even if battery wasn’t a problem)2. This Arca-Swiss compatible plate fits the camera and still leaves room to access the battery compartment. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XK2790Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Consumer Level Beast.

I bought this camera with a lot of hope after looking at all the specs and features. I went through every single detail and dozens of youtube videos before buying it. So when i finally got it, i was very very disappointed for 2 weeks due to the hyped up expectations. But the third week i discovered more and got familiar with controls a bit more. What i figured out was that this camera is just brilliant. The controls are so simple that you want to focus on photography more than struggling with controls. I miss the DSLR grip but M50 is equally good once you get use to it. You can notice the Digic 8 image processing. No to forget the videos are just amazing. Never used 4K, but just 1080P 60FPS is simply beautiful. Moving from a 70D to M50 i can now say am very happy. I am using VILTROX adaptor with 50MM 1.4 and i feel blessed, hahaha.

    Beast for beginners!

Canon M50!A very good mirror less camera for beginners, i love the Compact Design and it is user friendly. Using this since 9 months. Actually you need a good lens to get best result from any camera. Try to purchase M50 body with 50mm f1.8 prime lens, 55-250mm zoom lens, 80mm f1.8 prime lens. I was using M50 with kit lens(15-45mm), it gives you average results, i thought it is average product, later i purchased 50mm f1.8 prime lens, then i started loving it.Go for it below 50k.Thanks
