Repeat customer
Have bought several kindles over the years this the newest one purchased. Have always been satisfied, they are responsive, have great graphics. There is only one complaint I have on my newest one. The game I play is on a horizontal configuration, the position the power button makes play a constant effort, my hand keeps accidentally hitting the button powering of the tablet, it’s same results for either hand. Hopefully next generation of tablets the position of the power button will be located to accommodate horizontal play. The tablet is a great value for the price.

I wanted a larger tablet to watch movies and read on. And this fire is perfect. It’s fast. Easy to read on. You can adjust fonts, sizes, and colors to fit your reading needs. It’s very durable. Withstands accidental drops. It’s also a great size to watch movies on and it’s not too big to bring with you when you’re traveling.

Great budget tablet
My old Amazon fire tablet broke after 5+ years of abuse and use. This new tablet is a little smaller but much sharper. It’s actually a good size for my use, in the kitchen to watch YouTube instructional cooking videos or TV shows while I cook or clean. I have only had this tablet for a day but I already use it consistently. It’s a great budget tablet.

Waited until prime days to upgrade my kindle, so it was on sale. My main use is reading but I also wanted to be able to use it for my son to watch shows. I was able to create a kids account. This is a perfect model to do both!

Not Perfect, but a a nice tablet
Replaced a 10 year old dying iPad mini. This new Fire 10 HD is just right for what I need to do such as viewing emails and YouTube and Netflix videos. The screen resolution is very good and compares well to my wife’s iPad Air screen both streaming the same content side by side. No complaints there. I also found simple instructions to load up the Google Play store to access the rich volume of apps there. It does everything I need and would not recommend using it for anything but streaming content. For the heavy duty stuff, I use my Macbook Pro and Asus laptops. The performance of this Fire tablet has exceeded my expectations as I was not expecting much at this price point. This is my go to tablet in the “reading room”, LOL.This is just a small complaint…it does have a slight delay (about 3-4 seconds) to power up and initialize upon wake up and logging in. Maybe it is because it was suspended with several apps still running in the background. Other than that, I would highly recommend this tablet as a very good alternative to the iPad.Another big plus was that I bought this at the pre-Prime day price of $74 for the 32GB model and I did not have to fork over $300+ for a new iPad mini.

Great tablet for the price. Battery life is awesome
Is it as easy as an iPad to use and navigate? No. Is it way cheaper which makes navigating not seem so bad after all? Yes. We’ve had this tablet for a couple years now. The power and volume buttons tend to stick so it goes REALLY loud or immediately quiet or it just turns off. The battery life is so so so much longer than the iPad.

Still not an HDX, but is it better than the 2019 model?
I won’t repeat my complaints about the lack of a successor to the HDX (see my earlier reviews) and will focus this review only on what matters to me vis-a-vis the 2019 model.2019 HD 10I’m on my second one because the first died before a year was out, and Amazon replaced it under warranty. I hate it. Almost as much as I disliked the 2017 HD 10″ model. Why? Well, for the first month or so it ran OK. Then the same problems occurred: constant freezes, the screen always going blank and an apparent utter dislike for Twitter, the only social media I use. A software update temporarily seemed to solve the problems, but they reappeared after a few weeks. The 2019 has become increasingly slow. Moving from app to app is torturous. The Candy Crush games I play sometimes won’t even load, other times semi-freeze. And Twitter is simply awful. I’ve tried repeatedly to delete the cache to speed things up, but it only occasionally helps. Either it won’t load at all or videos won’t play or it fails to update the TL of somebody I follow. And it is more often than not slower than molasses.App updates: I have to download and install them one-by-one because if I simply do an “update all”, they’ll all end up showing either “downloading” or “installing” forever. Even if the battery is 100% or the HD is plugged in.Even the Kindle Library has become barely usable. Books won’t load or I’ll start a book and get thrown back to the Library screen repeatedly.I’ve increasingly come to rely on my Galaxy S20+ for everything except reading books because one needs a larger screen to enjoy a book.2021 HD 10It turned on easily after unboxing and everything went smoothly until:COLLECTIONSAlthough, supposedly, a restore was down from the last 2019 backup, only five collections appeared and they weren’t fully populated. I thought “Here we go again. I’ll have to download the apps one by one and slowly recreate the collections”. Only part of that proved to be true. As I downloaded the apps, they filled in the collections where they belonged or created the collections they were in. This wasn’t as easy as if Amazon had down a complete restore but it was far better than what I went through, twice, with the 2019 model. On the other hand, Amazon’s handling of collections should shame every single one of its developers who, presumably, owns a smartphone. Even the cheapest smartphone lets you create collections by selecting apps/games from a list. You can’t do that with Amazon’s non-book collections. Nor can you sort them or even scroll through a collection easily. It drives me nuts.APP UPDATESI ran the first multi-app update the other night and it went quickly and smoothly.APP SWITCHINGSo far, I’ve been able to easily and quickly switch among various apps.TWITTERIt works smoothly with one big hiccup today: a number of videos/photos simply didn’t load. I checked Twitter on my smartphone and everything was fine. Fingers crossed that this was a momentary glitch and not a sign of things to come.PERFORMANCEPerformance has been quite snappy, not quite on a par with my smartphone but close enough so I don’t feel a need to use the Galaxy.SD CARDI haven’t ever used one because of numerous problems reported over the years, and I bought the 64GB model so I’m hoping I won’t need to try it out.NON-AMAZON APPS, GAMES AND BOOKSAs usual, you’re up a creek if you’ve downloaded anything that doesn’t come from Amazon. They won’t be restored. You won’t even find them on your tablet. This might be a good reason for indulging in an SD Card, but there’s no guarantee that it will work in the next model. (Samsung’s flagship models no longer have a slot for an SD Card.)SECURITYWhy oh why oh why must I login anew to every app and every web site? Amazon has my ids and passwords. Why does it forget them every time I get a new device?CONCLUSION:Overall, this is a solid entertainment tablet with more than adequate performance. The updated software is, IMO, less user-friendly than the software version it replaced, but it is usable. (I wish I could talk with some of the developers to find out why they are doing what they are doing.)

OK for some things, but not what I need
I bought this tablet because I don’t have one and the price was great. My wife has an older one and seems to like it quite a bit. The problem is, it really seems to only be good for reading, streaming video or light web surfing. When I read, I like actual, physical books. If I’m watching video, I have a 65″ OLED TV with surround sound. Worst case scenario, I have a 14″ 2-in-1 laptop I can use. A 10″ screen isn’t really big enough for video, IMHO.As for web surfing, the only browser available is Silk, which I had never heard of. And while it works on a basic level, it doesn’t not provide me with the customization and options I get with other browsers. For example, I can’t set it to clear cache upon exit. Nor is there an option for private browsing.Because this device works on a ‘forked’ version of Android and not a ‘skin’, the only app store that really works is the Amazon app store, which is sorely lacking in terms of what is available for this device. I couldn’t download Firefox, nor any other that I might prefer – not even Chrome. I couldn’t download The Weather Channel. It took forever to find my favorite game. I finally had to search by the name of the developer. Those are just a couple of examples, but I literally spent hours trying to figure out a way around that. I’m a former IT guy and things like that drive me nuts. One minor irritant is that I can’t choose a version of the keyboard that displays the numbers above the letters. I can do that with my phone. It seems like an odd oversight for Amazon not to include that. So, any time I have to enter a password, I have to shift to the numbers/characters, then shift back. And I have to do that more than once while entering a password. It just takes longer and seems unnecessary. There is one other minor irritant for me, which is shutting down and booting up. You have to hold the power button down for a while, then wait for it to respond. And, while shutting down is pretty quick, booting up takes a bit longer than I would like. I know that’s a niggling little thing. but my Windows laptop is quicker and easier (again, IMHO).On the plus side, I was able to download Outlook and Office, as well as a few other minor things. I haven’t had time to finish setting up my mailbox in Outlook, so I can’t comment on that yet. Neither have I transferred any Office files, so I’ll have to reserve comment on that. Nor have I loaded any of my music to it yet. I don’t stream, I buy what I want and store it electronically on my own devices. I don’t anticipate a problem there, but you never know.I have not purchased a cover for it yet, but I’m looking at one with the built-in keyboard. If I’m working in Outlook or Office, I think that will be helpful. But I don’t want anything too bulky, so I’m still mulling that over. I have also not tried connecting it to an external display (such as an overhead projector), so that will be interesting. To be honest, I got so frustrated with it at first, that I just set it aside for awhile and haven’t gotten back to doing most of those things.I should note that I purchased it because I thought it would be more compact, lighter, more portable and more convenient than my laptop. And it would be bigger and easier to use than my Android phone for anything other than voice and text. Sort of a bridge between the two. Time will tell.

Great for the price.
I was unsure of this purchase at first because of some reviews but I feel better now having used the tablet. I needed a tablet or tv for my home gym for watching TV and potentially using workout apps. With the recent sale this thing was under $80 which made it worth trying out. I got the 32GB model because the 64 was sold out. I was worried about storage until I got it and realized you can insert a micro SD card for up to 1TB of storage.First and foremost you need to know that the App Store options are not great. There are a few native apps for services like Parmount, MAX, Disney, Hulu. However there is not a native app for YouTube, YouTube TV, or MLB.TV. I can, however, access them all through the browser. Although it’s not ideal it’s actually pretty smooth. I just book marked them and added them to my favorites. When I open the browser I have a list of those sites that I can easily click as if they were apps on the Home Screen.Be realistic in this purchase. This is not going to be a great alternative to a computer. I’m a photographer and would never expect to edit photos or video on this thing. You could make a Zoom call if needed but aside from that this is purely a content consumption device. Not a content creation device.

Good product for the price… For the price!
I mean it’s ok, if it’s your first tablet or maybe a just for backup or basic use (like my case) it’s completely fine, but if you are used to high end tablets like the iPad and on market for a replacement, you maybe wanna look for a similar product to the one you are replacing. The screen is fine indoor or where there isn’t direct sunlight on it, it runs smooth, speakers are decent for indoor use. Overall it does the job. However it has it flaws and some let’s say uniqueness on it…1- If you are used to mid/high end smartphones in general or iPads and is used to touch the screen to wake the device up. This one doesn’t you have to click the power button. Again it’s ok for the price but sometimes annoying when you just wanna quickly check notifications.2- For it’s size the battery life could be a bit better.3- Fire OS is based on Android but is a limited Android, some apps on Amazon App store are just shortcut for web-based apps like Youtube, you can’t even install Google Chrome because it’s not available, some people on Internet have tutorials for installing Google Play Store and install apps from there, I personally didn’t try because I don’t know if it would void my guarantee and even if would be safe.4- It’s light (which is good) but when you hold in your hand straightaway you can tell one of the ways how Amazon managed to cut cost and make the price so accessible, the plastic on the back just feels cheap, like really cheap…5- the volume buttons don’t have an actual fixed function and both are up and down depends on the orientation you are at, it takes a bit to get used to, because it’s meant to be intuitive since it changes according to the orientation you are using it, whichever is under is going to be down and which is over is the up button, but we are used to the buttons having a fixed function because other devices have a specific bottom and top, apparently not the case here and it’s a bit confusing at first.6- Native apps are not great and is a bit of a let down Amazon pushing us to use the Silk Browser and Mail apps, they are ok, but I really wish I could just have Google Chrome and Outlook amd Gmail apps.As I told I bought as a secondary tablet, when I don’t want to turn on the TV in the bedroom and just want to watch something, but feel like a waste using the iPad Pro (that’s used for professional affairs only) for binging Hulu or Netflix… This one is great! Does the job, is confortable for reading. However it’s mostly for doing basic stuff, so if you are considering it as a substitute for a laptop for example, consider an iPad/iPad Pro or Surface/Surface Pro.But you wanna something basic just to watch streaming services and browsing the Amazon deals… This one does it…

Great value for a tablet
Ever since Covid, I’ve pretty much stopped using tablets. I’m always home and my phone was the more logical upgrade. So typically all my screen time is phone or laptop. I’d recently started playing around with Amazon Luna and was intrigued by playing new games around the house and specifically away from my desk. The 10 is a huge step up from my old 8 from ’19. The screen is much crisper, setting options are more robust, the tablet itself is much zippier, and all around just better. Now is this going to replace your iPad? no, not even older models. But if all you’re doing is surfing the web, watching videos, or playing games in the cloud this is a no-brainer for the price. All I wanted was a high def screen for sitting on the deck or lounging around the house. The 10 is perfect for that and honestly has already been used more than I figured it would. This is a tablet for consuming all forms of media from the cloud. Go in with that expectation and you’ll love it. Also, gamers, don’t sleep on Luna. I’m just playing the free games and Ubisoft titles that have randomly shown up for free for me over the past couple of years from various giveaways. Amazon has really come a long way on it. As this is a review for the 10, not the service itself, I will say it streams games on par or better than my iPad, phone, Alienware laptop, and Fire Cube.I’ve seen the 10+ and 11 both have more memory, but honestly for the tech Amazon throws in these things, I don’t think it would really make that much a difference.

Solid lil tablet for the price, but screen sleeps too easily & too much.
Ok, so I’ve been an Apple products user for cell phones and tablets since iPhone2. Figured it wise to disclose this up front. I’m not adept at all android os devices yet, but learning on the fire tablet has been decently intuitive and relatively easy. For the past 8 years, I’ve used an Apple iPad Air 2013 model that I got refurbished in 2014. It was always a crisp screen view and has held up since I bought the one with the most memory available. This Spring (2022), I noticed that more and more apps were not opening because the outdated OS no longer supported those apps. I kept using the iPad since streaming services were still working. That ended in June 2022–suddenly several of the streaming apps I regularly used stopped opening. I really didn’t want to spend upwards of $1,000 on a new or recently used iPad, so I looked into this recent model Fire tablet. This has been a good alternative so far! The screen resolution while streaming is good. The Home Screen resolution isn’t nearly as crisp as my old iPad was, but I got this Fire tablet on Prime Day for well under $100 (so freaking solid quality nonetheless given how much money I saved). Setting the Fire up was pretty easy, and I’ve been using the kindle feature on it far more than I ever used on my iPhone. I liked how the screen can be personalized, and have generally enjoyed this Fire for the few weeks I had it so far. The only real pain in the @$$ though is despite extending the screen sleep timer to 10+ minutes this thing routinely auto dims or sends its screen into sleep mode frequently while I am actively using it! It’s really annoying, because I can’t just hit a home button to awaken it—I typically have to close the magnetic cover & reopen it. I’m getting used to the exercise, but it’s sure noisome! Maybe this a user error issue?! I’m a bit ignorant on this point and my lack of experience with Fire tablets must be acknowledged. That said, it’s why I knocked off a star. I’ll try to update this review in the future once I’ve better familiarized myself with the OS and researched some online troubleshooting remedy discussions.

Not great
I got this tablet so that I could have something with parental controls for my foster kids. Though it lags and freezes anytime we try to switch profiles. So it’s not exactly the easiest thing to use. I ended up getting a laptop for the older teens to use and still keep the tablet for the younger kids, we just only have the one kids profile on there now and it works ok. I wouldn’t suggest it for use with streaming services.

Good value and entertainimg
I purchased this tablet after my older Chromebook failed to boot up and restore it’s op system. I wanted another portable computer and never owned a tablet. This one seemed to be an amazing value with mostly good reviews. As it was 1/3 off when I got mine, purchasing it was a no-brainer. I use it mostly for email and web browsing. It offers many features for free and paid entertainment. It was very easy to set up, adjust and use. It boots and runs fast, even on my slow network. Ads are only on the first screen you swipe to get the main screen, so this is not an issue for me. The display is good, videos are smooth and the split screen a welcome feature. The sound is good, considering the small speaker size. Battery life is very good as well. I have used it to take a photo of paperwork and it did this well. It has a built in Alexa that can be turned off, as desired. It behaves somewhat like my android phone instead of my Windows 10 system or Chromebook. For example, I can only see one page of emails at a time vs scrolling through them all. I have to go into my address book for email contacts vs typing them. I can’t see how many emails are in each folder or delete trash with one click. This may be my mail provider and work ok with others. When viewing a playlist on Youtube it goes back to the top of the list after viewing a video instead of remembering the last viewed on the list. Maybe a browser issue, not sure. I also can’t mirror the screen to my TV as I did with my CB (and I hear the older Fire tablets). To do this, it may have to be done wirelessly. This is not a big loss for me, at this time. I have some issues with the Silk browser, but can live with them. I prefer a keyboard and that is an option I may buy if I don’t get used to the virtual KB. You can,set it up as a split keyboard that helps a lot. Nothing is perfect but this tablet meets or exceeds my needs. It is a fantastic value that I would purchase again and recommend. It should offer even more for a prime member and video streamer.

Great Homeschooling Tool
I purchased 2 of these tablets to use with the Oslo learning systems- which I also purchased on Amazon. The tablets are a much needed resource for teaching software applications, digital research, online etiquette, and art for homeschoolers. Parental controls allow parents to set screen time, restrict ( or not) certain websites, and make safe purchases. These tablets have allowed the elementary and middle school kids to choose their own books with the Libby app. Tablets have also been used for incentive time with games and tv. I live the ease of use, a 4 year old learned quickly how to access his lessons and start his apps. I’ll confess, I’ve snagged one from their shelf to download the free Amazon monthly reads😁. And, solitaire is much more fun on the big tablet!

GREAT TABLET FOR THE PRICE – BUT NOT IF YOU SUBSCRIBE TO MLB TV
The Amazon App Store has lots of apps – even for streaming channels. You can download most of the premium streaming channels without a problem. Hulu – though, keeps asking me to subscribe even though I log in with my current subscription credentials. And then, I still can’t get past the screen that asks me to pick a plan I want to subscribe to. So, I gave up on that one.On my TV – I get my broadcast and streaming channels through YOUTUBE.TV. Amazon App Store does not have that app. But I can access the website through the Silk Browser. So, that works that way. But, my major issue is: not being able to watch MLB TV. I have an older Kindle Fire (2014) that I was able to download the MLB app on and watch games and then after a few years I wasn’t able to. So, it was compatible then, with a much older OS. I’m not sure what changed. Even if I try to access MLB TV through the Silk Browser – MLB.com, I can sign in to my subscription but then it redirects to a still photo. I’ve contacted Amazon and MLB.com – and the answer is “the Kindle Fire isn’t compatible” with the app or watching the games on MLB.com. I explained that I understand I can get some games on the Amazon Prime streaming channel but there’s no way to enter your subscription log in credentials on that app. The only thing you can do is ALSO SUBSCRIBE ON AMAZON PRIME – that means paying twice for the subscription (that seems illegal or at least unfair) – or cancel my current subscription and hope I get a refund from MLB.com (probably not) and then sign up through Amazon Prime.I’ve done some research and apparently I would have to side load the Google Play Store. It seems like lots of people do that. I would rather not.In 2014 I paid $340 for the Kindle Fire. This one was $75. So for that amount, it’s worth keeping for reading and watching the other streaming channels that I can download. HOPE THIS HELPS!

An excellent tablet to read books, surf the web and the view the occasional movie
Cost/benefit is superb: US$ 45 for a full HD screen and very responsive for reading books, surfing the web and viewing movies or listening to music. I cannot say anything about game playing (not my thing) but it does perfectly well for the activities I bought it for. It substituted very nicely both my Kindle and my old Asus tablet. Nothing is perfect: – I could do without the ads but they show only once every time the screen wakes up (you can pay to get rid of them) – it comes sort of locked to the Amazon app world but it is very easy to “open” it up and install other apps from the Google world; you WILL lose the warranty but will gain a ton of flexibility app wise, without losing (that I’ve seen) any functionality from the installed Amazon OS – the home screen is not very configurable; even when you “open” the OS you will not have the flexibility of the common Android interface; I say “open” in the sense that you can install apps not originally from the Amazon app store, not substitute the Amazon tweaked Android that comes installedAnd many good things: – very good screen, responsiveness is great (for what I use it) – good sound (not excellent) – wi-fi works really well, both 2G and 5G – and the occasional Amazon app that I dislike (Amazon Photos, for instance) I installed something else; another example, I use VLC for watching movies – the build is excellent, at least from the outside (I am not going to open it to check inside)Looking at other tablets, I would have to pay 10 times as much to have something as good as my Fire!

Truly Impressed! Avid Control surface users- don’t hesitate!!
Just before Christmas in 2021, this item popped up on sale for just $75. We’re an apple family. We have numerous iPads in the house, plus our iPhones, Mac, MacBooks, Apple TV, etc. I’m an audio mixer, and use a product from Avid called the S1. It’s a control surface for Pro Tools that is meant to house a tablet for additional functionality- or eye candy. My older IPad worked, but looked tiny in the cradle, and wasn’t all that useable. I wanted something bigger, but didn’t want to spend the money on yet another iPad. For $75, I was willing to roll the dice.It fits great, looks great, and does exactly what I bought it for.But then I started to explore it deeper. It has built in Alexa with the wake word Amazon. As an audio engineer working from home, I sporadically have actors coming to record. I’ve got Ring doorbells at the entrances, and Echo devices in nearly every room. But for the first time, I can say “Amazon, show me the front door!”, and actually SEE it- and a lot faster than the Ring app on my phone would allow. This was a nice bonus. In fact, in my experience and opinion, Alexa works for much quicker and more reliably than Siri, that I’ve found myself relying on it a lot more. Having Alexa in the tablet to verbalize reminders, appointments, phone calls, etc- all right in front of me, is amazing!I became fascinated with my new toy, and downloaded all the steaming media we subscribe to, plus other apps for news and weather that provide lots of content. I quickly found that I enjoyed watching tv on a 10 inch screen a lot more than on my iPhone. It’s nice to have lunch at the table with my kiddo and share a video we can both easily see and hear. So- this little guy has a great screen and works perfectly for watching shows, movies, YouTube, news, etc.Now- I love my iPhone, and have my music library in iTunes. But when I purchase music, it’s always via Amazon. This is because I get my MP3 files instantly for most albums- but then have a physical disc arrive that often goes unopened. I just like know that HAVE the disc if I ever need to load it again or want to enjoy it in my stereo system. My iPhone can store a decent amount of music internally for when streaming isn’t an option. But I was floored to learn that the HD10 2021 has a micro SD card slot that can store up to 1 TB!!! That’s amazing to me. I can preload entire series, movies, music, photos- anything I need for a long trip or chilling in downtime. For like $25 I added a 400 gig card. Why iPads don’t have this is beyond me.I work with and coach voice actors outside of my day job as a recording engineer. Having that much memory on a tablet and access to an app like WavePad, gives them the ability to record in a pinch while away from their studios. On-screen editing is also fun and easy. I actually added a nifty stylus and case to my HD10, along with a Bluetooth keyboard. It’s essentially a mobile studio, albeit limited. While I haven’t experimented a ton with this- Silk browser (which seems to run on Chrome) allows me to use Source Connect Now to tap into actors or listen to sessions remotely at “CD quality”. Of course you can also use Zoom, Skype, etc.As an apple user, I still want access to my ICloud apps, like Contacts, calendar, Pages, Keynote, Numbers, etc. You can log into your iCloud account and get it all. The trick is to choose “request desktop site”, otherwise you dead-end at “find my device”. You can even log into Apple Music via the browser. So all my apple stuff is still with me!I chose Outlook email to run my various work and personal emails and have a unified calendar. It’s perfect for what I need. For $75, I’m finding myself using it more than I have ever used my iPad. It’s the right screen size for me to actually be productive with it, while also having endless entertainment in reach. Add a case, keyboard and stylus- and you’re good to go!

Fixed the only issue I ever had..
I am reviewing this tablet because I’ve been asked to. To combat all the false BS reviews coming out nowadays. So, here are the facts.I got my first Amazon tablet (a seven inch 16 gig) back in 2012. From then on, the s**t got real.. I would upgrade as soon as the newest tab would go on sale. BTW I’ve spent WAY too much money on Amazon!? Anyone else? Anyway and I’ve gotten this latest 2021 10.1 32 gig. I really like it. Over the years, up to this point, all of the tablets were tough, very entertaining, I couldn’t put them down! So fun! I spent hours and hours reading, streaming, shopping, and reviewing. As a mater of fact I was, at one time, among the top 1,000 reviewers in the country. A lot of hard work. But something, (I was told rather vaguely) about “suspicious activity” on my profile and it caused me to loose about 500 reviews, votes, and over 1,000 views!?! I still don’t have a clue what the he!! happened. Anyway, I just about stopped reviewing after that. I’ve fallen into mediocrity. I have over 950,000 views. I HAD a squeaky clean reputation. Wow. I couldn’t believe that MY Amazon did that to me.. so even though, I still have to put that aside and review these super tablets. This newer model is very fast. The battery is absolutely stellar compared to the earlier tabs by Amazon. Simply a great device (not gonna bore by going on and on about all the bells and whistles that these tablets have. Honestly, after wearing out at least seven or eight tablets in the last ten years I’ve never really had a “bad” device.. all except the one weakness that would eventually ruin every one of my tablets, the USB port would wollow out and get so bad that they wouldn’t take charge. Well the new USB C port is much more secure. I have great expectations for this tab. Very pleased. The tablet has a micro USB card slot for tons of storage. Great screen clarity. And the sound is actually loud and clear enough to use without ear buds if you’re sitting in a quite room. I think these tabs will be very popular… And those are the facts.

Moving from a 2017 release 10 to this model…
…due to decreasing battery life and wear and tear on the charging port..but in fairness I have used it every day for five years and it still works…the USB-C is an improvement over the micro-usb connection…the weight is about the same…the new unit has better ram and storage than the previous unit along with the screen display but for myself the change had been marginal (so far) with the caveat that I only use it to read e-books and stream movies and for that purpose it (IMO) is one of the best bang for the buck items on the market…my only two real complaints are the sound which is nasty/horrible on some movies…you really need headphones or some sort of bluetooth connection to other speakers…the other is that it was extremely difficult to connect to my Altice/Optimum Wifi…it took close to 40 tries before it made a connection…it was easier on my 2017 release…I’m not sure where to place the blame but it was a problem nonetheless…I would seriously suggest upgrading from the 9 to a 15 volt charger. Otherwise I am ok with this unit. Edit: what I do notice is the color is more vibrant than previous models…that’s a definite plus…also there is way too much bitchin’ about the screen lock…you only see it one time and you move past it…you save some money and a buck is a buck…I’ve actually had some useful information from the adverts. I would add You cannot rely on just the basic information from the manufacturer that its cord fits a Fire 10. It may or may not. ALL you have to look at is the charging port to see if it’s a USB-C or a micro-USB. For example, the previous Fire 10 I have is a 7th gen 2017 release that uses the micro-USB. Again, all you have to do is look at the charging port to see which one it is. My understanding is that the Fire can handle up to a 15W charger and the 9W one supplied by Amazon is too weak for my purposes. It may be they do this out an abundance of caution so that a power surge doesn’t damage the unit, but I come from a long line of village idiots so what do I know. I’m told the length of the cord may also affect how fast an item charges. I bought a 10ft one that works fine. My other observation after numerous Fires I have owned is the subject of reinforced/braided cords. My experience is that the braided cords because of their stiffness have a tendency to damage the charging port. And as many of you know that is usually the first to go. Yes, braided may last longer but I’d sooner replace a cord than a Fire. Considerably cheaper in the long run. All I know is that the 15w one works better than the OEM item. Just as an additional item there is this issue of breakage of the cord. I have bought a fair number of cords for my Fires over the years from various companies and have NEVER had a breakage issue. It is true that I have accidentally tripped over and otherwise inadvertently pulled cords from the Fire a number of times which could have resulted in breakage. I have been lucky it didn’t but have probably “worn out” the charging ports earlier than they should have because of my clumsiness. Considering I use and charge the Fire every day, regardless of the protestations, I am reasonably certain that most of the complaints from non-braided cords have resulted from that and not from defects in the cords themselves. All that is required is that you have to be careful when inserting and pulling the cord from the device as I have to keep reminding myself.

Just great
I’ve tried out tablets before and always found them lacking. They were fine for consuming content and being portable browsers but if I wanted to get work done they were too slow or too weak or not comfortable enough to use, especially if I needed a keyboard.Well, I couldn’t resist the Amazon Black Friday deal that paired this tablet with the Bluetooth keyboard case, and now I love it. Finally, all the functionality I need, with portability and performance. And it didn’t cost an arm and a leg like my old Samsung tablet or the more recent Apple tablet I got for a family member. The screen is great, it’s bright and colorful and supports full HD. The touch screen performance is pretty good too. With the keyboard case I can type emails quickly and even when just browsing or reading I can use the keyboard keys for navigation since sometimes that’s more precise than the touch screen. The tablet even has stereo speakers. The one thing I really like the tablet for is reading documents with graphics such as comic books and magazines. For text only, a lighter reader or a phone are ok. But I always found it uncomfortable to read comics and magazines. Not anymore. With the Kindle app’s special comic reading mode that expands each panel into view one by one, my poor aging eyes can enjoy comics on the tablet without having to put on glasses. Magazines are still a little tricky and you have to spend time zooming in on text but it’s still better than older tablets when it comes to reading.Cons? Not many, but as other reviewers have noted, this device lives in the Amazon ecosystem. So you get Alexa (if you want it), and great Amazon integration with your account, but the Amazon version of the Play store may not have all the apps you use. There are also ads on the lock screen in my version, they’re inobtrusive enough, but of course Amazon is in control and could potentially make them more invasive if they wanted to. It’s, at this time, a fair trade-off.The tablet is a very nice and lightweight way to easily grab some reading time before bed, or check email anywhere in the house, or read a magazine. For content creation, nothing will beat a desktop and full-size keyboard, but for what it is, I think this Fire tablet is helpful and functional and affordable.

A huge step up and big improvement over my older HD 8
I’m a iPad/Mac user, but, for kindle book reading, I’ve used a dedicated Fire Tablet HD 8 that I’ve had for well over 2 years. When this new model 10 inch Fire Tablet was reduced in price during the holidays in 2021, I decided it was time to make the jump to a larger screen (more (paper) book sized) and gain more battery ife per charge due to a larger battery. This 10 incher did not disappoint at all. As a primary use for Kindle books, I’m getting 20 or more % battery life then the 12 hours the specs suggest this tablet can get.The screen quality for reading is perfect. I typically set it to lower brightness (fixed) and there’s no glare in the eyes nor any eye strain when using in a darkened bedroom at night. The faster processor then my older 8 inch HD clearly adds some speed to anything you do on this tablet. There’s no lag at all in trying it for video, gaming, etc. As stated though, for me, I use a Fire Tablet primarily as a reader, period.Screen resolution and contrast is excellent, certainly not any better ( and a little less) than my iPad PRO, but, of course we’re talking a big difference in cost between tablets here and very different display technologies as well. That said, this 10 inch HD Tablet is no slouch in offering a clear, sharp/detailed display with very sufficient color saturation and accuracy plus nice crisp text over-all.Given Amazon offers just about any app needed for this fire Tablet, it certainly could be used for just about everything that an iPad could be and at a competitive price to the new basic model iPad model that sells in the $330+ dollar range now. Some reviewers said due to where the camera is (oddly) located, one must use this Fire tablet in a case with the cover opening to the right rather then to the conventional left, but, not true. Since this tablet can flip screen orientation based on where the top of screen is located, I’m using a hard shell case for my Fire and the conventional left cover opening as normal. Granted the camera is at the bottom left corner in my configuration, but, that is no issue since if one needs to use the camera, they can orient the tablet however they wish and the screen (and camera) will orient as needed for photos. The net here is you can use the tablet in a case and flip open the left cover as normal. As an owner of both an iPad Mini and an iPad Pro 11 inch, I can say in all honesty, anyone wanting a tablet on a budget and hoping to get some decent performance and screen quality plus great battery life won’t be disappointed at all in this new model 10 inch Fire Tablet.I got the base 32 GB version with ads. Ads only show on the screen saver when opening up the sleep/wake cover and a one finger flip up of the screen goes back to where you left off or the home screen. Ads really are not a biggie in this context at all.Given one can add a micro SD card to gain more storage space, and Micro SD cards are dirt cheap now, the 32GB version is fine for me.No complaints at all and 5 stars all around for this Fire Tablet. A well designed tablet at a very good price.I highly recommend it! If you order one, it’ll be a definite “keeper”.

Great screen, good quality for the money
The keyboard case is pretty nice. It basically turns into a nice little laptop. Easy to use and responds quickly without lag. The memory expansion option is nice. I’m happy with it. The split screen feature is great if you want to have music or tv on the side while you read news or surf the web.Update: I’ve had it for around 3 weeks now. I still really like it. It works well as my entertainment laptop. It handles email, streaming services, Kindle and Audible books, Amazon photos, etc. really well. I added the 256GB memory chip. It isn’t a work laptop replacement but is great for entertainment/home use where you’re tired of using your smartphone and want a bigger screen but not a full blown laptop. That’s what this is perfect for in my opinion. I really like the keyboard and find it handy as a good quality storage case in addition to being a keyboard. Very happy with it and would buy again.Update August 12, 2021: I’ve had this for 2.5 months now and still really enjoy it. I think it is perfect for what I wanted – an entertainment machine. I still wouldn’t recommend it as a work laptop replacement, but if you’re looking for something to read news, watch TV in a portable way with hot spot on your phone, review email, surf the web, and do your internet shopping – I’d say get this with the keyboard case. For the money, this is as good as you’ll get on the market today.Update April 11, 2022: The tablet is still great for my purposes. The add-on keyboard for it had keys that stopped working, so I wouldn’t recommend that any longer. I’d buy the tablet itself again for sure though. Haven’t had any problems after almost a year and it is still zippy. Still love the HD screen, too.Update August 30, 2022: I still use this regularly at night while watching news in the background. Still love it and would buy again. Never had a glitch or problem with it and still enjoy the high quality screen.

Tablet
I like that this talbket is bigger than the one I use to have. The smaller one just didn’t have enough memory. This one is nice in size but it had a few glitches in the beginning. It would turn off or freeze up when I was in the middle of using it. I didn’t want to send it back for defects because it’s such a long process. It appears to work better now.

Tablet is amazing for the price !
I had originally bought this tablet for my grandma. She had them gave it to her sister so we decided to get her the kindle 7 version, Both tablets are amazing for a budget and I would highly recommend 🙏🏻❤️
